RoryoCox Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks for the great tag Kim, it looks great. Afosl that Boba shot is beautiful Quote
sok117 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Here are a few shots from my Hoth display, there not very good photographywise, but I thought they were kind of funny, my main goal was to work on the lighting from my last round of photos. Pathetic Rebelscum Run Pilot! Run! Check out the rest of the scene in the Forum p.s. did that rebel pilot look familiar? Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Good pics Sok. I think it is time for some more from me- Enjoy! Quote
brickfoot Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I like the reflection great job burman. Quote
smokebelch Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 Congrats on the Camera tag Burman- well deserved Couple of new ones from me (its been far too long!) Quote
Skipper 24 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Well I haven't posted any pictures in ages. For these few that I Have done I decided to try HDR Images. High Dynamic Range of HDR is a method of taking photos where 3 images are combined together, it works really well with building and landscape photography. When the 3 images are merged you can adjust various parameters adjusting the highlights, white level, black level etc. Unfortunately with these images the technique didn't really work so well. But it was a great experiment. I think I will try again when I have more, 'better' light. Quote
Adam the Ant Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Lots of great photos in this thread and I haven't looked through all of them yet I recently bought a pop out lighting cube to photograph my models in, but I've only photographed one model so far, as I'm sorting my bricks and haven't had time. With the model I did photograph I had to improvise with the lighting, I ended up using a couple of torches on stacks of books Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Brilliant photos Smokebelch, that Wampa looks fierce . Skipper your pictures are really good, so much detail with HDR Quote
LuxorV Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Hi everybody, I've been following this thread every now and then during the last months, and I always thought I had to try some SW photography like this some day. I took the occasion during this vacations and I'm going to show you my first efforts. Do not espect great lighting effects, though First off, a AT-RT scouting the land (in the absence of the official one, I made one with some spare parts, so the colour scheme is a bit fancy ) This one I call a war tired clone trooper And, last one, a K.I.A. trooper with what remains of his vehicle (you know, I had this charcoal at hand...) Hope you like them Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Very good pictures LuxorV. I like the outdoors feel of it and I do like the last picture. A really good start to Star Wars photography Quote
Brickus Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Great new shots guys, good to see more shots smokebelch. Edited August 17, 2010 by Brickus Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Good to see you back, smokebelch. Nice shots of the wampa, although it's the tauntauns that are smelly. Wampas are virtually odorless, which allows them to sneak up on tauntauns, who can barely smell beyond their own stench. Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Some more photos from me- I tried some new techniques with this. Mainly opacity using Gimp. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I really like your set of outdoor photos Luxor, it reminds me of mine which I did way back link That opacity style looks great Burman. C-3P0 looks lost in mist of fog IMO. Today I took some more photos in HDR. What do you think? Quote
The Legonater Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Good to see you back, smokebelch. Nice shots of the wampa, although it's the tauntauns that are smelly. Wampas are virtually odorless, which allows them to sneak up on tauntauns, who can barely smell beyond their own stench. I belive it was a quote from the firts scene witht he wampa... Quote
smokebelch Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) ^^^ Ha ha, beat me too it- yep just a quote from Luke when his Tauntaun's getting a bit frisky Nice shots Skipper, the Jabba one came out particully well. Lovely tones on the green fella, he's a hard one to light/ photograph well. Oh and a couple of new ones from me- Jabba's Wall Art Edited August 18, 2010 by smokebelch Quote
Skipper 24 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Thanks for the encouraging words Smokebelch. Your lighting is just superb . Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Excellent shots Smokebelch, that close-up is superb . Skipper your most recent shots are very good, the detail on Jabba is great to see. Quote
Solscud007 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Smokebelch what lens and camera are you using? Quote
Solscud007 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I need a good macro lens. This was shot with a 1.8 f/s 50mm budget lens. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Simply amazing photos as usual, smokebelch, Skipper, Burman, LuxorV. @Solscud007: Your photos are brilliant too. In the eyes of a non-expert in photography like me, I must say your pics are crisp-clear and looks very good IMO. Great job! The winner for me hands down is this one: I could just imagine time slowing as Vader and Boba held hands with the sound of love songs in the air... Quote
Inconspicuous Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Nice shots Skipper, the Jabba one came out particully well. Agreed! You managed to make him look revolting- in a good way! Oooh that hits the spot. Quote
LuxorV Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Thanks for the comments everybody Now, seeing your latest excellent photos, I really think I'll have to try some lighting tricks Quote
