Brickdoctor Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I always love the lighting of your photos, fenris. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Those are indeed great Echo snow shots Solscud! I see you have been having fun outdoors eh, with complete camo attire! And excellent shot as always fenris! The lighting is simply superb. Quote

smokebelch Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Great snow shots solscud007 The first one is excellent- the background work looks great to me. Thats one of the hardest things to do when shooting outdoors, to try and get a 'clean' background with no buildings etc in it. Some nice subtle photoshop work there. Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Great snow shots solscud007 The first one is excellent- the background work looks great to me. Thats one of the hardest things to do when shooting outdoors, to try and get a 'clean' background with no buildings etc in it. Some nice subtle photoshop work there. Thanks. yeah tell me about it. I scoured my apartment grounds and the best I could get was this slight incline. There were other steeper inclines but they were too short and shallow. Not enough depth to hold an AT-AT let alone two AT-ATs. This one at least has a nice long sheet of snow that I can set up on. The biggest challenge is putting them in the snow and not leaving traces of hand prints or foot prints that would ruin the shot. Plus eye level shots are better to look at. hence the composition of that shot is done to mimic the movie. So no matter what incline Im at, im still gonna see something undesirable in the bkg. Quote
General Magma Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) Endor photography continues! Enjoy. I decided to do another ewok biography shot after Wicket, and here it is, this time featuring... Chief Chirpa Chief Chirpa by General Magma, on Flickr "Chirpa was the head of his Ewok tribe's Council of Elders in the Bright Tree Village on the forest moon of Endor. The gray-furred Chirpa carried a reptilian staff denoting his rank which carried the teeth and horns of animals he had hunted. He and his wife Ra-Lee had two daughters: Asha and Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka. Chirpa was also the brother of Bozzie and the uncle of Paploo." I also tried a different kind of lightning in an "Endor at night" shot: Endor at Night #1 Endor at Night #1 by General Magma, on Flickr ~ General Magma Edited December 28, 2010 by General Magma Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) Nice pic. you might want to try adding a little blue filter to make it a "night shot" like how Hollywood used to and some still do. They use blue light to give the impression it is night time. Edited December 28, 2010 by Solscud007 Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Good job, General Magma. I think I like the night shot better; I don't like the lighting in only one area in the first. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Nice photos all of you. Now here are some of my snow shots that the contest inspired me to do. Lets start off with my holiday greetings. Then some Hoth shots. And some snowtroopers having trouble with the deep snow. Thanks for looking. All the photos can be found here. Please C&C Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I think I like the second Hoth shot the best. Brightness is really good. I would crop it, though, at least to half the size, 'cause there's too much white. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Nice shots darth yogi! I love the astromech Season's Greetings - clever green-red pairing. And I agree with Doc, the second Hoth shot is the best of the bunch. I like the exaggerated brightness, makes the snowies blend into he white background and makes chrome Vader 'glow' more. Very well done! Quote
smokebelch Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 Like the third shot the best darth yogi- nice composition and framing, looks good Here's an oldie alternate shot from me- been having withdrawal symptoms from not being able to get out for outdoor shots, so been messing round editing old unused takes, my hard drive's full of literally 1000's of em Dewback Patrol by smokebelch, on Flickr Quote
filospinato Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I didn't realize that was photoshopped until you showed the original. It's my favorite. These are some of the best snow pics I've seen. Same here, very nicely done. Quote

Legoman Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Heya guys. Thought I'd share a few shots that I've taken, including some variants of my Contest entry - In that one, The idea was that a rebel was going in to buy a christmas tree, but it was a trap (Was going to make a sticker or use photoshop so it would say 'Christmas trees' on top of the Cave. - That was one I was wondering about for the compitition. I'm still very happy with the Picture, but Desided against it's use in the Compitition itself. Based on Kasyyyk Then here's a couple of other shots I was going to use for my Compitition entry: Hope you like the pictures Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Love the last one, with all the ash everywhere. Quote
distortme Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) Got a 10188 Death Star for Christmas [from my beloved wife!], and have taken a bunch of photos. Will take more, just need to play with lighting a bit in the next shoot - just wanted to get some photos up to celebrate the finished build. Welcome my young apprentice. Big Cam Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 This one is money! I kind of wish there was more to it than just the rock wall, but it is instantly recognizable, and I love the ash effect. It reminds me of this shot I took for a review. Quote
