le60head Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Hello! I came across this site: http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4852398 Unfortunately i do not understand Russian, but the linked page seems to contains instructions for MOCS by Sheepo, Sariel, Madoca, Nico 71 and others. I suspect the MOC instructions from those authors are not free for sharing, so my guess is that the above page is illegal. May i ask someone who understands Russian to confirm? Quote
rm8 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) There is nothing to understand here. It is torrent tracker site, resource of pirate soft/video/audio.... As description says it contain instructions to models. If you open list you'll see list of models added on the last update. I did not see any famous non-free instructions there. You can check, may be you'll find. All other instruction you can see only if you download it. It will be not surprise if you'll find something non-free there Edited March 25, 2015 by rm8 Quote
le60head Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) My wish is to raise attention to this torrent. I did not see any famous non-free instructions there. Thanks rm8! If any of the authors of the corresponding authors fell that their work is being illegally distributed, please advice on how to proceed. Edited March 25, 2015 by le60head Quote

Sariel Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) They also steal books. And the funniest thing is, if you're the author of a stolen book, it's pretty much impossible to request a takedown. Uploading takes probably 2 clicks, but to take something down you need to fill a very long legal request and attach a letter, preferably sent by mail, and also give them all your personal data. And of course, you have to comply with Russian law. What a wonderful system it is. Edited March 25, 2015 by Sariel Quote
Nalyd997 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I tried downloading it and my McAfee said it had a virus. DO NOT OPEN THIS. Well you would deserve it because you were greedy enough to download them Quote
Rishab N Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) I only saw free instructions(but I could be wrong) so I wouldn't call it being greedy... Edited March 25, 2015 by Rishab N Quote

As far as I remember, their form explicitly tells you that any legal proceedings have to take place under Russian Federation's jurisdiction. Quote
le60head Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 I was afraid it would be difficult to take actions against this case :/ Sariel, you could at least send you hamsters after the ill-doers! Quote
Sariel Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I already have. Soon they will experience the terrible nibbling at their ankles ;) Quote
0RBlT Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Good day to all! I like to share my opinion with you. With regard to the topic of the author, then clicking on your link, it says that the archive contains the instructions from the easiest to the most complex models, there are also instructions paid models. Yes, and it's certainly not acceptable, as the author for his great work would like to receive remuneration in cash, but I can almost with 100% certainty I can tell you that a justice on sites like these angles are too extreme you will find, in the extreme case, you need a huge force in order to prove their case, since we have so many loopholes that they can be avoided, and thereby avoid liability. rm8 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) It almost impossible to prove that this is "your" instruction since you have documents that prove that. But with books it should be easier since all rights reserved. Edited March 26, 2015 by rm8 Quote
Sariel Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 But with books it should be easier since all rights reserved. Not really, they have ignored my takedown request completely. I'm pretty sure they only put this takedown option there to keep up the appearances. It's useless, but they can always say it's there. Quote
D3K Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I tried downloading it and my McAfee said it had a virus. DO NOT OPEN THIS. Did you have to "register" to download it? I'd like to see the files in there, as he has several of my MOC building instructions, as well as digital files. They are all freely available from me, but of course I can't say for sure about all the others, as the list seems to show the actual file names (for example "6x4 dump truck instruction model.lxf", which I can only assume is my own digital model found on my Bricksafe page) Quote
kamsohal Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 its more likely a virus thst will wreck havoc on your machine. Quote

Aleh Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Hi over there. Make sure there are no viruses. And there are NO paid building instrictions in this torrent. I'm the owner. And the main aim is to spread all over the world MOCs from talented builders. I actually do not understand what's the problem.. And it was me who warn Sariel about stealing of his book.
