Captain Zuloo Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I have seen a couple of brickbuilt masts but if I could only build a strong one dammitt!!! :-O I want to build some small ones as well as big so if anyone has any pics of a good realistic mast (I like my MOC's to be realistic), I would worship you for ever! Well... not really, but I would really apreciate help. Thanks! Captain Zuloo :-$ Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 7, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) I suggest to start here: Index: MOC ships Also, the new ship of ZCerberus has masts which are partly custom made: The Phantom. Edited August 7, 2007 by Bonaparte Quote
ZCerberus Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Lego Pirate 83's ship also has brick built masts if you can find that on in the forums! Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 (edited) Lego Pirate 83's ship also has brick built masts if you can find that on in the forums! I found it in the forums! X-D Here's a link to Legopirate's Ship and a link to his Brickshelf Folder. Also my recommendation for brick-built masts would be to use 2x2 round bricks like this: Then for added strength, add axle bricks, 4L bars, or 6.6L bars like these respectively: but i don't recommend using those colors :-D P Edited August 11, 2007 by phred Quote
Shadows Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 First you chop down a really tall tree, making sure to select one that appears to be free of rot and fairly straight ... :-) Ok, seriously phred seems to have the answer there, and it looks like a good one. I think I'll go read up on that myself! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 21, 2007 Governor Posted August 21, 2007 Is this a MOC or a Custom thread? Quote
Scouty Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Silly Phes...I think it's just a thread asking for techniques on how to make masts. As to where it should be...I wouldn't know :[ . Alot of the good ones have been places...so those should help :capn: Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 22, 2007 Governor Posted August 22, 2007 Say whaaaaaaaaaaat? Quote
Scouty Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I'm saying it's neither, just a thread asking for techniques on how to build masts. Though, I'm really unsure if it should be moved to MOC forum, or just stay here. Whaaaaaaa Quote

Captain Zuloo Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 I'd guess at the MOC forum Nah. Keep it here. Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) Is this a MOC or a Custom thread? I'd say this should be a MOC thread cause it's a discussion about how to make a MOC ship. Same with Captain Zuloo's new thread about tips on how to make a stern.. I look forward to seeing which type of mast Captain Zuloo has implemented in his MOCs. Whether by what bricks he has available :-D or which method he likes. *y* One method of mast construction that i'd like to try, is using "X-wing Engines" for masts with a 3 stud diameter. I've never tried it, but i think i may for the USS Constitution bottom portion of the masts. P Edited August 23, 2007 by phred Quote
Errorist Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 That x wing engine idea is a good one. I never would have thought of that. maybe i could use it on my ship. *sweet* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 17, 2007 Governor Posted September 17, 2007 I'd guess at the MOC forum Agreed and done! Quote
