Not asking you to kill them at all, but maybe a vampire or necromancer or two." "We're not exactly in the best shape after that little bout...we'll stay here and rest up a bit. If we remember anything else we'll come and find you." "Uh, I'm kinda the highest rank here, aren't I s'post to be the leader?" The rest of the Bonapartes give Henry a deadpan stare. He coughs nervously. "Er, maybe I'll just stay quiet. Good luck you guys!" Erik looks out into the blackness. "Huh, nothing unusual. I was thinking there might be more zombies here, or something. Should we head to the laboratory now?" He turns back towards the staircase leading to the lookout tower, but then stops and looks around, curious as to whether the dragoon had ended up accompanying the party to the lookout tower, or had been left behind at the barracks. Guts checks the area with a magnifying glass before continuing to the Laboratory. There's nothing of interest around the lookout tower, but Guts spots a faint film of dried blood trailing from the bottom edge of the laboratory door. The door itself is completely sealed otherwise. An eight-letter combination lock, remarkably like the one they entered from but apparently in active use, stands before them. '<Ohh. Fancy. Guess we'll have to keep out for any spare letters, huh? Heheh. Does anyone use regular doors these days?>' Omen was apparently still trailing the party, rubbing up against their legs occasionally. Hoke hops on Torc's back and flies a circuit around the fort to see if anything catches their attention. It's still remarkably dark outside, and Hoke can make out nothing beyond the faint outline of the Apocalypse at the mouth of the grotto. Luckily he doesn't get shot at - not even from the gun emplacements that stuck out at the front of the grotto. Edited April 27, 2015 by CallMePie
UsernameMDM Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 After finishing up the quick circuit, Hoke and Torc catch up with the others to find them standing in front of a closed door.
Emjajoas Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Mortimer, his sole eye focused on the Wyrms-- and thus missing most of Illdria's display-- nods to the marauder. "Very impressive, captain," he offers, firing at Wyrm J from the back row with Erdy's Handcannon. "I'm glad you're on our side."
JimBee Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 "Hm... A friend had a similar way of dueling, though he has put down his swords for now. Since you hate the Bonapartes so much, have you ever encountered the Ji Pei?" Hybros repeats, same BO.

Thoughts about what's going on, heroes?>'
JimBee Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Hybros turned to face the party, and in doing so, a vision crossed his mind. It went as quickly as it had came, but it left a lasting sensation at the fore of the imp's mind. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Ehem, eh... well I am glad that is finally over." He looked around the room to determine if there was any indication on where to go next. The Magpie ought to be docked in the same place, he thought. Loot: Dyric: 3x Silver Ore, Earthwyrm Fang Em: 5x Silver Ore, Earthwyrm Fang Thalion: 3x Silver Ore, Earthwyrm Fang Hybros: Earthwyrm Fang Illdria: Earthwyrm Fang He also handed Erik's Gold Satuette and Crystal Ball to Em. "Maybe it would be better if you held onto these treasures for now, eheh... I would like to focus my efforts on this Crystal Ball." He pulled the gleaming orb from his bag-of-holding. It looked more valuable than it had before, thanks to the imp's alchemical skills.

CMP Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Hybros turned to face the party, and in doing so, a vision crossed his mind. The 'room' was in fact open, with no walls save the cave the grotto had been carved into. A pier lay before them, and beyond it, the Magpie; but it was lashed to the opposite dock, across the water. Illdria wiped the blood off her boots and frowned, unfurling her map and handing it to Hybros. "We're directly underneath where we were. That would put us at Dock 2. Unfortunately, we can't very well reach my ship from here, unless you want to fly over and solo whatever's guarding it. We made quite the racket, too." Hoke recoils reflexively at the hideous odor as Torc hisses at the unpleasantness on the other side of the door. He watches as his quest mates attempt to work the combination on the lock. "Can anyone here just pick the lock? Erik, can you melt it?" '<Heh. Break it? You must think this one of those flimsy, insecure eight letter combination locks with an obvious magical presence behind it.>' Omen licked his paw. '<Whoever built this thing has paranoia like your dragon has scales.>'
UsernameMDM Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 '<Heh. Break it? You must think this one of those flimsy, insecure eight letter combination locks with an obvious magical presence behind it.>' Omen licked his paw. '<Whoever built this thing has paranoia like your dragon has scales.>' Hoke resisted the urge, just barely, to snap up the feline and throw it over the parapet. "Hardly. I was just putting some faith in my companions and their abilities. What a useless companion you're turning out to be. You seem to know so much about this fort, but you don't seem to want to share," Hoke said as he thought over what the cat said, looking for a clue.
Emjajoas Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Mortimer squints, trying to see clear to the other pier. He keeps squinting for a moment, cocking his head as if it would help his poor eyesight. "Can you see anything?" he asks awkwardly, glancing at the party, brow knotted.
Myrddyn Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 "Two rooms that are either empty or locked? We'll definitely be coming back. I'll try blasting it down if you really want, but I think the cat's right." Erik only blasts a fireball at the door if Hoke really wants him to.
UsernameMDM Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 "Tis your call. If the lock is sufficiently warded, it could be detrimental to our current course." Hoke looked about a bit to see if there was any other way into the room. If not, he mounts Torc and flies as inconspicuously as possible to see if there is a window on the other sides.
Scubacarrot Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 "We're coming back here later. We're going to the room that was marked as mystery on the map." He asked the cat. "How come we can all understand you anyhow, I never had a penchant for talking to animals like some of the other heroes."

I was under the impression you were only half-blind. I think the fastest route would be through the mystery room and storage. I have no issue with that - does anyone else?
