"We're directly underneath where we were. That would put us at Dock 2. Unfortunately, we can't very well reach my ship from here, unless you want to fly over and solo whatever's guarding it. We made quite the racket, too."

"Even if I wanted to fly over there I do not think I could... eheh. These wings are relatively new to me, heheh."

Mortimer flinches at the quip about his eyesight, but quickly recovers.

"Should we not visit Cell Two first? The crew..."

"Hm, yes, perhaps we will find a crew member there who can help us. Then we should go upstairs and try to meet up with the others, to see if they have found anything."

If there were no objections, Hybros leads the party to Cell Two.

"Should we not visit Cell Two first? The crew..."

"Good point, with any luck we may be able to find someone there."

Thalion puts the broomstick away and takes the Nightfall out of its sheet, then follows Hybros to Cell Two, all the way looking around with a magnifying glass for traps or hidden passages.

"I may get some use out of those treasures yet, eheh..." Hybros takes back the treasures that he gave to Em as well as two of the Silver Ores that he distributed.

"Hardly. I was just putting some faith in my companions and their abilities. What a useless companion you're turning out to be. You seem to know so much about this fort, but you don't seem to want to share," Hoke said as he thought over what the cat said, looking for a clue.

16742072489_8bc21f8d19_t.jpg

'<Heh, 'companion' he sez like he knows what I want. If I knew anything about this place beyond what I could see I'd be just pleased as a peach to share.>'

"Two rooms that are either empty or locked? We'll definitely be coming back. I'll try blasting it down if you really want, but I think the cat's right."

Erik only blasts a fireball at the door if Hoke really wants him to.

Erik expends one ether to fireball the door, which does not open.

Hoke looked about a bit to see if there was any other way into the room. If not, he mounts Torc and flies as inconspicuously as possible to see if there is a window on the other sides.

Hoke flies around the fort a second time to once again finds it difficult to spot anything in the darkness.

"I'll try blasting it if necessary when we come back, then."

Erik follows Guts to the mystery room.

"We're coming back here later. We're going to the room that was marked as mystery on the map." He asked the cat. "How come we can all understand you anyhow, I never had a penchant for talking to animals like some of the other heroes."

16742072489_8bc21f8d19_t.jpg

'<You're not talking to me, I'm talking to you,>' replied the cat, still trailing along the party.

Guts leads the way to the question-marked room. A pile of smashed electronics is piled up against the walls, which are now covered in a thick, murky sludge and riddled with four of five enormous holes, rather like a nest of some sort.

Mortimer flinches at the quip about his eyesight, but quickly recovers.

It's a fairly short walk, and luckily the heroes run into nothing. As they approach the cell, shrouded in darkness, the low mutterings of its sole occupant became more and more apparent. Illdria narrowed her eyes, then lightened up considerably upon seeing who lied within.

"Melvin!"

15752057766_89b7d48c3d_t.jpg

"Eh? Cap'n? Heroes? Orrik's eyebrows, I shoulda figured you'd get in here eventually!" The dwarf pressed his face up to the prison bars. "And I think I've seen all of ye around in some way or another. Usually fighting enemies on the ship, or...enemies in the caves, or enemies IN the ship. Well, just means ye've got experience."

16403890313_9ffb0c7a7d_t.jpg

"Well, that's one." Illdria let out a small sigh of relief. "But I don't see a key around here...or even a lock, for that matter."

15752057766_89b7d48c3d_t.jpg

"It ain't even a door! They shuffled me in and magicked these bars in place. The old cell bars were falling apart. This place is a damn mess, cap'n. And the Bonies are even dumber than usual!"

"Melvin! Are you okay?" Hybros looked concerned for the dwarf, and tested the bars by pushing on them. "Hm... I do not think we will be able to open them that easily... Do you know anything about the Bonapartes here that can help us?"

"Hah, nice to see you too Hybros. Nice wings, ye know, you look a bit like those little bat fellows flapping around Zylstra these days..."

The bars squeaked slightly as Hybros pushed them, but didn't seem to move a significant amount.

"Well, they weren't tripping over their own feet like they usually do. I think the vampires have something to do with it."

16403890313_9ffb0c7a7d_t.jpg

"The what?"

15752057766_89b7d48c3d_t.jpg

"Yup. Vampires. There's three of the little bloodsuckers running about, shuffling the Bonies around like they were sheep like they were damn shepherds! Erm, really pale shepherds that feast on blood. It was one of them who put these bars here. Not a clue what they have to do with eachother, I'm afraid, but...well, none of this adds up. It looked like you'd expect for the first day or so. Soldiers running about and patrolling, everything ye'd expect from the Bonies. Then...these vampires, silence from the guards, and they didn't even bother feeding me! That, my friends, is just cruel."

Mortimer squints at the dwarf in the cage, a small smile dawning on his face. "So it is you, Melvin. I'm almost afraid to ask how you've been. Can we blow those bars with a bomb?"

"Ah yes, the warden from Zylstra! Could say the same of you, I'm afraid, Em. Ah well, don't need two eyes to shoot straight...erm, yes, I suppose ye could, but this cell isn't particularly deep, and I'm, well, ah, standing right here."

Posted

"I never shot straight to begin with, friend," Mortimer replies lightheartedly. "If my shield can fit through the bars, I figure you might be able to hide behind it, yeah? It should be strong enough to block most of the blast."

Erik picks up a bit of smashed electronics and looks at it. "Um. Maybe Thalion could fix this? Probably not. Looks like a mess." He mutters.

"On to the docks overlook, then?" And since it's collapsed, we can presumably go straight down the stairs afterwards, and then either to the Kitchen or to meet up with the other party.

"Melvin, it is so good to see you! Dyric has a point, I do have some knowledge of craftsmanship so let me see what I can do..." Thalion uses Craftsmanship to dismantle the bars on Melvin's cell.

"That is exactly what will happen if you keep making so much racket, giving away our position and allowing them to set up an ambush. Let's just move on."

Posted

"Racket? Torc hasn't made a single noise. Are you afraid of a couple of worms? Besides, seeing as we have so far fought a necromancer and a vampire, I'm pretty sure there's an ambush around every corner."

Posted

Erik smiles as he watches the party leader berating the dragoon for his lack of caution. "Inexperienced troglodyte!" He snickers quietly.

"Yes, let's move on." He says, acting as if nothing had happened as he strides out.

Hoke hears Erik's snide remark.

"I ddin't know I signed up with a bunch of prudish hens when I joined this quest. I thought we were here for a bit of adventure."

Hoke and Torc wait a bit to see what comes out of the holes, if anything. Meanwhile, Hoke sorts through the pile of smashed electronics.

"Hm, I thought there was something off here... That might explain why we have not seen any soldiers patrolling the halls yet."

Hybros supervises Thalion trying to open the door. "I could once pick the lock, if there was one, though I am a little rusty, eheh... My alchemy skills are improving, but I do not think I can melt metal."

He looked around cautiously before peering through the bars again. "It is best that we do not linger. If you cannot get these bars open, Thalion, then we will have to move upstairs. Melvin, can you wait a little longer for us?"

Hoke looks at Torc and nods towards the holes. Torc saunters over and unleashes a gout of flame into each hole.

Hoke and Torc wait a bit to see what comes out of the holes, if anything. Meanwhile, Hoke sorts through the pile of smashed electronics.

Outside of a rankish burning stench, there doesn't appear to be anything coming out of the holes. Whatever once nested in them seems to have tunneled deeply, but no longer appears to be present. The destroyed electronics appear to be several years old and to be of Tritech make.

The party proceeds forward, to find a gaping hole in the floor and a pile of rubble below - along with a small ocean of giant wyrms that fit the profile of the odd nest above them nicely. Just ahead they spot the other party, and are reunited, for the moment.

16403890313_9ffb0c7a7d_t.jpg

"Good, you're back," greeted Illdria immediately. "I even won't bother asking if you're alright. The Bonies couldn't train their men to hit the broadside of a ship with a blade, much less a handcannon. Numbers is their only advantage. How many of them did you get?"

"Melvin, it is so good to see you! Dyric has a point, I do have some knowledge of craftsmanship so let me see what I can do..." Thalion uses Craftsmanship to dismantle the bars on Melvin's cell.

Putting his artisan abilities to good use, Thalion spots a few loose nuts that when removed with the usage of his toolkit scatter onto the floor. The bars fall apart into a neat pile on the floor, and Melvin steps out of the cell, clapping Thalion on the shoudler.

15752057766_89b7d48c3d_t.jpg

"Hah, always knew ye'd be 'round to help us. First with that robot, then the...then the same robot disguised as a man! Erm, not the robot Hybros, Em and I fought alongside...not even sure I would believe some of these tales anymore." Melvin eyed the party that approached. "More?! Well, we need as many as we can I suppose!" The dwarven cook looked sideways at Hybros and Em. "Never doubted the cap'n would show up, but I'll admit I wasn't expecting an army of heroes! That said, I've been practicing that tune ye gave me back in Zylstra - bit more musically-inclined these days, and I'd be happy to help out yer group 'til we're out of here, if you'll have me." Melvin put his gloved hand forward.
