"Hm, the Captain is right. Well, we might as well get started... It is not like we do not have enough potions, eheh..." Hybros takes the first step, gingerly placing his foot on F6.

'<She's who I was talking to, Mister Dragoon. Not everything's about you, heheh.>'

Torc eyed the feline a bit sharper, a coil of acidic smoke winding out of her snout & onto the floor.

"Cats..."

"Hm, the Captain is right. Well, we might as well get started... It is not like we do not have enough potions, eheh..." Hybros takes the first step, gingerly placing his foot on F6.

"Hold on Hybros."

Hoke digs around his pack and grabs a bone. He then tosses it on the lowest right hand corner tile.

"Anyone have a Magnifying Glass I can borrow?"

"I had to get out of the Hovels at some point. I found work on an independent shipping vessel. Worked my way up the ranks, made a lot of contacts, and then the majority of the crew ended up dying in a pirate attack. Most parted ways after that, but not me: I ended up with the ship, repainted it, got a new crew, here I am. Probably not as exciting as how heroes get recruited, but there you are."

"Oh wow. Gettin' out of the Hovels, fightin' pirates, and earnin' a ship's an impressive amount to have accomplished by your age."

"A bone might not be heavy enough to trigger any traps." With a shrug, Erik steps into F5. "I'm no expert on dealin' with trapped rooms, but if I can figure out how many traps there are nearby, that'll help us figure out where exactly the traps near Hybros are. Maybe."

"Hm, the Captain is right. Well, we might as well get started... It is not like we do not have enough potions, eheh..." Hybros takes the first step, gingerly placing his foot on F6.

Almost at once, the F6 tile cracked into two as Hybros stepped on it, a bear trap that had been buried underneath snapping up to catch his ankle, letting go only after it caused a substantial amount of bleeding, reducing the imp to one health as his wings skittered about to get him back to the doorway.

Hoke digs around his pack and grabs a bone. He then tosses it on the lowest right hand corner tile.

"Anyone have a Magnifying Glass I can borrow?"

The bone slid down onto the trap, but failed to activate it. Apparently the weight was not enough to set it off.

With F6 having been trapped, neither Erik nor Hoke could perform their attempted actions.

Hybros yelped loudly, flapping his wings desperately to try to take the weight off of his ankle. He fumbled through his bag and managed to grasp three potions, quickly gulping them down.

"Hoke, maybe you should go first, eheh..."

Mortimer takes a deep breath, stepping gently on F2.

It's the other way around, letters across the top and numbers down the side. I probably should've labelled that in the picture.

Em steps onto B6 gingerly. The tile creaks under his weight, but little else. Em determines there is 1 trap within the surrounding 8 tiles.

Hoke examines the squares around F6 for traps.

I might not've been entirely clear about the magnifying glass thing, either. You can stand on a tile (assuming it has not been trapped and you can reach it) and use the magnifying glass to reveal a random trap within the surrounding 8 squares, but only if one has not been revealed already, by the glass or otherwise.

His success giving him a bit more confidence, he decides to step forward to B5, doing his best not to flinch.

As Em put his foot down on the next tile, the crunch of glass could be heard underneath it, and with a ringing bang, the trap exploded, sending Em flying back into the wall. Hybros quickly rushed to feed Em three Potions. Illdria pulled the warden to his feet.

"Somebody really didn't want us getting past here."

"Beats me how they cook under these conditions!"

"That kind of--" The Warden's statement is interrupted by a cough, and he pounds at his chestplate for a moment. He takes a deep breath before standing again, nodding to Hybros in thanks. "Kind of blindsided me," he mutters, trying to humour his mistake.

He steps to C6 and, knowing that it isn't trapped, steps to C5 afterwards.

A trap like this doesn't really seem in the Bonaparte's MO. Could be left over from the pirates? Either way, this'd be a pain for Bonaparte HR. I begin to follow the others down the line.

"And that's why I appreciate your group. The Houses are too outdated. They don't care about the common people. That's why we ought to be rid of them."

And do what? Rule Eubric by ourselves? The Houses are a pain, but they're a necessary evil. Eubric has no other ruling government, and you can be sure the Heroes won't do it. More and more people come into Heroica for the money more than to do something right. It's like they didn't even bother to read the sign over the door.

Taking advantage of the Warden's discovery, Erik steps to B6 and then A5.

I should've noted you can't move diagonally, sorry.

Mortimer moves two tiles. There is one more unrevealed trap around C6, and two unrevealed traps around C5.

"I know a thing or two about necessary evils, but half the time they only exist because people are too afraid to challenge them. Maybe a ruling government is what we need - seems like a silly sentiment coming from someone like me, but one government would have a better time dealing with this crap than six people all pulling at Eubric's strings. If there has to be a necessary evil ruling the city, it may as well be the Wolfgang, they know how things really work in the world." Illdria shrugged. "Between them and Heroica things might actually change around here."

The Warden eyes the crate located on tile C4. He didn't trust it, for some reason. Thus, Mortimer hesitantly steps over to D5, half expecting it to blow up in his face. He ignores the talk of politics-- it didn't matter to him, after all. He had to keep looking forward, as he had said before.

"Between them and Heroica things might actually change around here."

I've telling myself that for the past few years, but apart from the rise and fall of a few fringe groups, nothing's really changed.

I shake my head tiredly. What we need is a unified movement, a group that can rally the people. But I have no idea who would start that or what shape it would take. It's not the Wolfgang, and it sure ain't Heroica anymore.

Mortimer's prediction was spot-on, as the trap under D5 blew up violently right underneath him as he stepped on it.

Hybros continues to follow behind Em. When able, he lifts the lid to the barrel on C4.

Hybros pops open the lid to the barrel and rummages around, pulling out a fair number of food items.

Erik steps on A6 (1 trap nearby, which is B5), then A5.

Erik steps forward two tiles. Neither of them are surrounded by any unrevealed traps.

"There's two and a half centuries of success behind Heroica. You can't just abandon your group's cause over a few bad apples. The same goes for the Wolfgang, have you stepped into the Hovels lately? Every organization has people like that, but what matters is whether or not they know what to do to fix things and how to get there. It's never going to be perfect, but people chafe under the Houses every day."
