"Getting greedy, are we? Nothing wrong with a little greed, if you have the gold to satiate it. An Amethyst - or any other gem - will cost you 150 gold. You can get them cheaper from Nemeshtar's magic shop at the Slums, though. A Grating Stone or a Bright Polish will cost 150 gold, as well. Overkill Gloves come at an overkill price of 1000 gold. A Scroll of Nimbleness or something like that would cost 300 gold. The question remains, how rich are you?"

Eric smirked. "I believe we understand each other perfectly well. Greed is good."

The Nord moved closer to the dealer. "Quite the assortment you got there. You must've got some pretty good connections to get all that stuff. Want to lift a tip of the veil on your secret? I wouldn't mind earning some coin on the side myself, see."

Eric reached into his pocket, fumbling for some gold. He was itching to spend some, but couldn't decide on what to spend it yet.

Heckz pulls out the Old Teddy bear and acts like he is fighting it, throwing explosions of darkness all around the toy but being careful not to harm it or the others. If that doesn't work, he will drink a Smelling Salts, a Mead and give Periwinkle a Phoenix Essence. Then he heads out to find easy prey that could be of almost no danger, if possible.

The trio moved away from the pyramid-like resort and back into the scrubby sands. Periwinkle looked wide-eyed at Heckz's stunt with the teddy bear. She then turned to the little Pharpharian.

"Listen, Phred. Mister Brutenhal isn't feeling very well, so why don't I take you to your mother now..."

heroicaquest130-phred.jpg

"But he promised me monsters! I WANT MONSTERS!!!"

The dunes began shifting from the boy's voice. Heckz fumbled to open the potions and tossed a Phoenix Essence to Periwinkle just in time before three ghouls rose from the sand. Phred picked up a stone from his feet and flailed it with an excited grin on his face.

he glances at the hotel and the woman outside and walks over, giving a quick bow. "Howdy there. My name is Lawrence T. Boomingham. Are you a patron, or an employee here?"

As Boomingham approached the hotel, he saw that the person he thought was a woman was actually snakeman. His sex was not apparent at first, though, but when he spoke his voice was lispy but deep.

"Are you talking to me, sssir? I am neither, really, jussst a neighbour popping in to visssit an old friend. Vipersssace issss my name, I run the fashion boutique across the square." Vipersace gave a measuring glance with his four eyes. "I do not believe I have anything for the likesss of you, though."

Vipersace's Boutique requires 5 influence to get serviced in.

heroicaquest130-djuvali.jpg

"Now don't be rude to a guest of this city, my friend", said the man in the company of the snakeman. "Surely this man is only weary from travel, and with your magic touch he could easily turn into a dashing socialite."

heroicaquest130-vipersace.jpg

"I will not touch jussst anyone, Djuvali. And I do not practice charity, either. But perhapsss there isss a gentleman hiding under that layer of dirt. We will have to sssee.... Good night, priessst."

The snakeman sashayed away, careful to avoid touching Boomingham's cape when he passed him.

heroicaquest130-djuvali.jpg

"My apologies, sir. Salmanda sees so many travellers that the locals have become somewhat uptight towards them. Only the rich and famous get good treatment around here. Trust me, I know it first hand. I only moved to this city a couple of years ago, as the representative of Addis Vipara, the largest city in Kalma Badlands, and had to take my place among the Almagesta's court. I am Cobra Priest Djuvali, pleased to meet you." The priest reached out a hand to Boomingham.

"Quite the assortment you got there. You must've got some pretty good connections to get all that stuff. Want to lift a tip of the veil on your secret? I wouldn't mind earning some coin on the side myself, see."

Boomingham claps his hand into the Priests. "Good to meet you. I've gotten more his sort of welcome than your's, so thank you. Would you like to go for a little walk and allow me to pick your brain about the city? For example, do you have any idea where one can buy flowers and jewelry? I'm heading over to the Lodestar Inn to talk to a night, thinking of passing through the souk. Where do you live within the city? Am I going your way?"

"Greetings, sir. If you are here to listen to us, you have come a little late. We only perform in the evenings. Although we feel we should probably quit, because nobody wants to listen to us. In our homeland, everyone flocked to listen to the Awareness of Ul'damahr, but here we are nobodies. Our music is perhaps just too strange to the local audience."

Discovered a new subquest!

Boomingham yawns and walks up to Rex with a friendly wave. "Morning there, chap! Good to see you again. Good news on the wife front - all we've got to do is buy her flowers, some jewelry, and take her to dinner. Good old fashion wooing. Shouldn't be too difficult. I'm planning on dealing with it later today if you're game - I'm even willing to pick up the flowers and jewelry, though I figure she'll want you at the dinner instead of me."
