Pyrovisionary Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) "Ah, you must be talking about Doctor Jiiv'ni. He came back earlier to look for the key he lost, but he must have dropped it somewhere on the beach because he could not find it in the room he rented. He rented it again so he could continue searching tomorrow, saying there was no going back to his wife without the key." Sarge nods "Yeah, we were sent by the good doctor aint we Eric. We just need to check the beach for it then we'll be off, no hassle mate. Aint as if we'll be cheating you of money, or sights," Sarge winks back "it's the small hours." Zepher Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 "Tell me about honor. You're hardly fulfilling your duty." Boomingham stands up. "I'll see what I can do. Rex, let's do some shopping." Trudging away, Boomingham shakes his head and talks to his companion. "This city is indeed in a sad state." OoC: So I have to uncover all three of those things, and then... what, the Azure Eagle will let me into the palace even though I unearthed his Black Market deals? Sorry, just a little confused as to if I HAVE to do those to complete the quest, or if any way of getting the Black Scorpion back is acceptable.
Khorne Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 "I guarantee that our meals will leave you feeling bolder, faster and luckier after you've gotten your belly full. Our patrons also have access to the private beach, where you can enjoy the beautiful sights - if you catch my drift." The proprietor winked at the two men. "There are cheaper ways to get bolder, faster and luckier in life. I'll pass on that meal. The beautiful sights, now those might be worth 150 gold, but like my older companion here noted, we're actually here to help the good doctor Jiv'ni locate his key." Eric grinned. "Let us search the beach now and we'll be back to check out those beautiful sights later. We won't be of any nuisance, as has been said: it's the small hours."
Sandy Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Heckz approaches the guard from the Daystar Tower. "Any chance that I might learn some new magic tricks?" The guard shook his head. "I apologize, but the Daystar Tower is only open to visitors during the Midday Ceremony. The wizards must not be disturbed at any other time. And Magister Lapis Lazuli does not allow just anyone to participate, either." Entry to the Daystar Tower requires 5 influence! Sarge nods "Yeah, we were sent by the good doctor aint we Eric. We just need to check the beach for it then we'll be off, no hassle mate. Aint as if we'll be cheating you of money, or sights," Sarge winks back "it's the small hours." Sarge makes a step towards the beach entrance The bouncer intervened, blocking Sarge's way. "Hold your seahorses! You really need to pay before you can gain access to the private beach." OoC: So I have to uncover all three of those things, and then... what, the Azure Eagle will let me into the palace even though I unearthed his Black Market deals? Sorry, just a little confused as to if I HAVE to do those to complete the quest, or if any way of getting the Black Scorpion back is acceptable. QM Note: With Black Scorpion's reveal, the subquest took a twist. If you complete it, it will be Black Scorpion who will let you in. If you can find a plausible alternative way of making Black Scorpion return to his duties, then I'm willing to reconsider. This is a role-playing game, after all. The rhinotaur nodded. "SO! Will we head to the Palace District now?" Eric grinned. "Let us search the beach now and we'll be back to check out those beautiful sights later. We won't be of any nuisance, as has been said: it's the small hours." "I'm sorry, mates, but I'm running a business here", said Sed, spreading his arms apologetically. "Besides, it's pitch dark outside. You won't find a thing. Just relax at one of our luxurious rooms, and you can continue your search in broad daylight. Deal?"
Pyrovisionary Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Sarge grumbles and leaves. He walks to the docks. Ooc: So Sarge and Eric should arrive at the same time as Boomers and Rex are there?
Zepher Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 OoC: Thanks, sorry. "I guess so," says Boomingham, as he nods to the Black Knight and steps outside. "What's your opinion, Rex? Think its worth getting the whole of the guard in trouble just so this fellow will return to his post? Doesn't seem right to me. Who the Hel is going to take their spots? Isn't it best to leave the Queen protected, even if two of her guards are porking each other? They're surely at least the best of the best. Can't say I approve of the fellow who's bothering the poor folks, wouldn't mind putting a stop to that..." OoC: Making conversation/killing time so that I can get to know Rex, and also so Sarge and Eric can catch up.
Khorne Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 "I'm sorry, mates, but I'm running a business here", said Sed, spreading his arms apologetically. "Besides, it's pitch dark outside. You won't find a thing. Just relax at one of our luxurious rooms, and you can continue your search in broad daylight. Deal?" Eric lay his long arm around Sed's shoulders and grabbed him closer. He grinned impishly and with his index finger, the Nord prodded the hotel owner on his chest. "You are severely underestimating our finding skills, friend." He then let go of the man, and released his as quickly as he had taken him in the first place. Eric sighed and rolled his shoulders. He put up a fake friendly smile towards the hotel, which faded fast. Sliding his hands through his hair annoyedly and then pointing at Sed again, he coldly stated: "we'll be back". Not breaking eye contact with Sed, Eric took some steps backward towards the door, then turning around and exiting the building. Rolling his eyes, he was soon to catch up with Sarge and also headed towards the docks.
Cutcobra Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 The guard shook his head. "I apologize, but the Daystar Tower is only open to visitors during the Midday Ceremony. The wizards must not be disturbed at any other time. And Magister Lapis Lazuli does not allow just anyone to participate, either." "Pff, 'Lapis Lazuli'. What a stupid name." Heckz waits for as long as he should for the other heroes to arrive at the port. Mainly because he was tired of being alone with Periwinkle.
Sandy Posted May 16, 2015 Author Posted May 16, 2015 It was the morning of their second day in Salmanda when the party was finally reunited, after an exhausting day of exploring the city and its perimeters. They all met at the same place they had been 24 hours earlier; the Golden Square by the Port. "There you are! By Mother am I happy to see the rest of you! I should go visit Revered Aunt Ovelia at the Temple to recount all I've managed to gather about the other Sisters in the city. Have you found anything else? Did you find Aunt Esther, too?" Cutcobra Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 "I believe I still need my book, so priorities first. That genie over there is intriguing me, though, so I might just go there for a while. And do any of you have some meat lumps or something like that? I need those. And please don't make the vulgar joke that would be made after that question." Heckz goes to the Dream Forge.
Pyrovisionary Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 (edited) Sarge smiles as they run into the rest of the party. "Some Black knight said she went to the palace. She's probably back by now. Not usual some random sister gets to see the Almagesta on demand" He takes a puff from a cigar and grins through yellow teeth. "We stick together now aight, as a party." "I believe I still need my book, so priorities first. That genie over there is intriguing me, though, so I might just go there for a while. And do any of you have some meat lumps or something like that? I need those. And please don't make the vulgar joke that would be made after that question." Sarge idly hands Heckz the meat he procured earlier, heavens knows what the lad wanted to do with it. Nonetheless, hopefully, whatever it was, it was for the good of the party. He doesn't particularly feel like being torn to pieces by a ravenous beast and comes to the conclusion than acting nice will keep him alive. He gives Rex the Cactus Flower and a Garnet. "There. Khorne Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Eric saw Sarge walk over to the woman selling apples and quickly followed his steps. Once there, he put on a warm, sheepish smile and said: "My partner here is only telling half-truths. See, you do look hot, but not solely literally speaking, of course. Secondly, I am the one selling this nice straw hat." Eric procured the hat and put on his best salesman antics to present it. Cocking an eyebrow, he spoke: "The straw used is 100% natural and hand-picked by our well-paid manual laborers. There are no added dyes, nor chemicals. Due to the nature of its design and the specific type of straw we used in making this hat, it shields the wearer from the sun quite well, if not perfectly all the while making the user look quite stylish. This is most likely the best Straw Hat we ever produced." "Another great feature of this hat, is its extremely light weight. It truly almost doesn't exceed the weight of a big feather. All the benefits of this Straw Hat , without any of the burdens." Still holding the hat in one of his hands, Eric pointed his index fingers at the woman and put his thumbs up. He flashed another great smile and ended his pitch: "Best part: Straw Hat could be yours. TODAY! For only 100 gold, taxes included! Straw Hat , putting the 'cool' in 'coolie'. Buy it noaaaw"
Pyrovisionary Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Sarge nods at Eric's flirtatious , keeping his composure whilst trying to hide a smirk. After taking a deep breath he daintily strides away to the inn. Where he puts one hand on the inn's pillar and another over his eyes and sniggers quietly. After regaining his gruff look, Jon returns to the group and lets Eric do his sale pitch. He smirks passively at the group before gritting his teeth and speaking; "I wanna get into their hotel, check around the other Sister's rooms whilst they're aat the conclave. Whaddaya think lads?"
Sandy Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Heckz goes to the Dream Forge. The genie smith laid down his hammer as Heckz approached the blue-flamed forge. "The Dream Forge deemeth thee worthy. Cometh forth, mortal. How can I be of service to thee?" DJIMINI'S DREAM FORGE Upgrade Equipment: Any weapon or shield can be upgraded with this service, adding one point to its power per upgrade. Each upgrade costs the amount of WP the weapon has after the upgrade times ten. A Mythril Ore can be used to mythrilize a weapon or a shield, increasing its power by 10. The piece of equipment gets a "Mythril"-prefix and cannot be mythrilized again. Adamantine equipment cannot be mythrilized. This service costs 100 gold. An Adamantite Ore can be used to adamantize a weapon or a shield, increasing its power by 25. The piece of equipment gets an "Adamantine"-prefix and cannot be adamantized again. Mythril equipment cannot be adamantized. This service costs 250 gold. Imbue Equipment: Any weapon can be imbued with an elemental gem to give the weapon an elemental property. A shield can be likewise imbued with a gem, granting it immunity against the element. A gem can also be recovered from an elemental weapon or shield, but the equipment loses its property in that case. This service costs 50 gold. Any weapon can also be imbued with a scroll to give the weapon the effect of the scroll (including the same chance of success in executing said effect). A shield can be likewise imbued with a scroll, granting it immunity against the element. A scroll cannot be retrieved from the equipment once imbued. This service costs 50 gold. QM Note: Just so if it isn't clear, this subquest involves a string of trades, as it is based on an old oriental folk tale where a guy traded straw for one thing, then that to another, until he had a pile of gold in his hand. He gives Rex the Cactus Flower and a Garnet. "There. Something nice and something spiky that looks like a flower. Now you just need to take her out for dinner." The wererhino looked doubtful when he accepted Heckz's items. It was just a single flower bud and a solitary gem, after all. "WELL... I guess these will do. But where could I take my Rhiannon to eat? I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy a plate of chilli peppers at the Lodestar Inns..." The zookeeper Istaban who they had met on the previous day approached them. "Hey, it is you again! Have you found any of the creatures that were released from the Menagerie yet? I heard the damned animal rights activists were captured yesterday and thrown to the antlions. Good riddance to them!" Cutcobra Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) The genie smith laid down his hammer as Heckz approached the blue-flamed forge. "The Dream Forge deemeth thee worthy. Cometh forth, mortal. How can I be of service to thee?" "I know, I know, I'm the worthiest around. Now, this scythe is just too heav- I mean, it makes me look barbaric. I can clearly lift it with my overflowing muscles, but it's just not practical. Could you turn it into a dagger, please?." He then starts thinking about other genies he met before. "Out of pure curiosity, do you know of someone by the name of Djinniffer? She owes me something. If you could summon her or something, that would be great." He then sells his Scrap Metals, his Rat Wand and the mighty Pitchfork of Abomination. "WELL... I guess these will do. But where could I take my Rhiannon to eat? I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy a plate of chilli peppers at the Lodestar Inns..." "Maybe to those amazing kebabs at Kabob's? I don't think it's that fancy for a date, though, so please don't tear me to pieces if I don't know of any other food-places." "Hey, it is you again! Have you found any of the creatures that were released from the Menagerie yet? I heard the damned animal rights activists were captured yesterday and thrown to the antlions. Good riddance to them!" "Good riddance indeed! In fact, I've got this creepy red beast that I found. Can you lock it up immediately, please?" "Heckz!!! What did I tell you?!" "You told me quite a bit of idiotic stuff in the time that we were together. Please specify." The sorcerer turns to the other heroes and explains his plans. "Okay, people, here's the deal. I'm gonna go to the Holy District so I can get my book and Poppyshittle can go report to Aunt Ovelia. Maybe I could even bring Hymne-sassy to these music idiots that Boo-ming-hun talked about earlier. After that, I am probably going to the Luxor Dunes once again so I can meet Marmaduc, the great killer of beast-lovers, and then go to the Resort. I don't know what I'm gonna do after that." "So, anyone wanna come with me?" Edited May 17, 2015 by Cutcobra
Pyrovisionary Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) The genie smith laid down his hammer as Heckz approached the blue-flamed forge. "The Dream Forge deemeth thee worthy. Cometh forth, mortal. How can I be of service to thee?" Jon's wide grin fades as the genie calls him worthy. Bloody ethereal creatures think they're so superior to the rest of us, not even the elves top this prick in arrogance. He angrily growls at the genie "Bout time too... Mate." The word was spat out in indignation "Could you reforge these" He raises his hand, displaying the demonic scissors before continuing; "Into a greatsword. Mate." The scissors were great, concealable, and perfect for slicing fruit. But they didn't have the cleaving, skull cracking action that he so desperately desired Ooc: Can the Demonic Greatsword retain its Dualstrike property? The wererhino looked doubtful when he accepted Heckz's items. It was just a single flower bud and a solitary gem, after all. "WELL... I guess these will do. But where could I take my Rhiannon to eat? I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy a plate of chilli peppers at the Lodestar Inns..." Jon scratches his chin in thought, recalling the resort. "The resort said they served meals, might be a bit posh, innit. But it aint as if you don't got yerself a lady." He shrugs, disinterested. The zookeeper Istaban who they had met on the previous day approached them. "Hey, it is you again! Have you found any of the creatures that were released from the Menagerie yet? I heard the damned animal rights activists were captured yesterday and thrown to the antlions. Good riddance to them!" Sarge reaches into the refines of his cloak and passes the small creature he found earlier to the zookeeper. "Here ya go Lad." The sorcerer turns to the other heroes and explains his plans. I don't know what I'm gonna do after that." "So, anyone wanna come with me?" Jon sniggers at Heckz and speaks happily "Aint you the strong independent man, don't need no-one else - Oh look" He nods at Periwinkle. "You do. You pursue your own wants Laddy, we'll do what we get payed for." He pauses, continuing to smirk but speaking more gruffly now, no longer ridiculing the boy. "So I'm gonna meet Ovelia, see if I can get access into the hotel through her. Tonight I'm getting my disguise, and then tomorrow we'll go in to get us some dirt on the other sisters." He looks at the faces of the other members of the party, trying to grasp what they thought of the plan. "Til then I'm gonna check out the slums for a bit. Get into a good scrape an' all. Might go to the bog for a bit then loop back to the dunes, we can meet at the resort tonight. Anyone gonna join me? Boomers, Eric?" Edited May 17, 2015 by Pyrovisionary
Zepher Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 OoC: When did I mention the musicians to you, Heckz. I don't mind that, but Boomingham is a conniving fellow, so he will actually be trying to keep some of his goals under wraps. Sorry, just wanted to let you know before it becomes an issue. Boomingham's face shone with pleasure upon running back into his friends (though it did cost him Rex's reply to his question), and he let them all talk out their different plans, becoming more and more aware as they did so that they might be parting ways once again. "My first and foremost goal is to help my friend Rex here with his lady. If its the resort that serves meals, then to the resort we must go." He glances at Rex. "What say you, friend? Would you like to ask her yourself, or do you require my charm? I am with you until the end of that endeavor, so whatever it takes. Don't hesitate to ask me for what you need." He then turns to his companions. "I wouldn't mind seeing the slums myself. Apparently one of the Rainbow Knights is a bit of a nuisance around those parts. Though I will stop at the dream forge before we head out."
Khorne Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 "Alright, fine then," the Nord grumbled as he traded the hat for the apple. "I'll go to the Slums next, so I guess I'll be coming with you," Eric then said to Sarge and Boomingham. "First, let's see this genie's forge." Eric sells 6 Silverfish Wings ((WP8x5)x6) = 240G, if I understand correctly?)
Zepher Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Boomingham steps over to the forge along with Eric, selling his Silver Sword (90 gold) and then handing over Scupperer and a number of scrolls (blinding, sealing, fragility, weakening). "Think you might be able to read these and see if the sword can't do the same thing?" he asks as he also passes over 200 gold.

If you don't feel like helping him out, just leave the slobbering mess be, and find another way into the palace. I just ask that you escort me to Rhiannon and act as an intermediary. Tell me the truth, should I really hand her the Cactoid Flower, take her to the Beach Resort to eat and give her this plain Garnet as a gift?" "Alright, fine then," the Nord grumbled as he traded the hat for the apple. The apple seller eagerly gave Eric a red apple in exchange for the straw hat. "Phew, this'll come in handy! Thanks!" Pyrovisionary Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) "Two out of five, a great start! Just keep your eyes peeled for the rest of the buggers, they should be around here somewhere..." "Will do mate" He idly nods at the zookeeper in acknowledgment. QM Note: Of course. Only the weapon's type is changed. Djimini morphed the Demonic Scissors into two blood-red greatswords for 150 gold. Jon sighs in near perfect awe. They were beautiful, and had retained their gory colour, those Genies knew their shit at the least. He hangs them, one on each hip so they would be quick to draw - Quicker than the other bastard at least. "THANK YOU! You've been a great pal, Sir Boomingham! I'm sorry I can't help you more with the black knight - my morals are where the money is, you see. If you don't feel like helping him out, just leave the slobbering mess be, and find another way into the palace. I just ask that you escort me to Rhiannon and act as an intermediary. Tell me the truth, should I really hand her the Cactoid Flower, take her to the Beach Resort to eat and give her this plain Garnet as a gift?" He nods at Rex's statements, he had his heart in the right place - the gold pot. Just like Eric. He waves a hand at the Wererhino before speaking himself, shoving his chewing tobacco into his cheek so he could talk proper. "Ya can't overdo it with women, check out that boutique before you go to see her. Also mate, you can give her this." He fumbles about in his pockets, arching his back to get right to the bottom of them, and withdraws his hand with a small, shiny object. He gives it a blow and the assorted dust falls away to reveal the Gold Ring (worth 15 gold; can be given to someone to make them enamored with the giver) that he had procured in an earlier quest. He flashes Rex a smirk quickly, making sure he accepts it, and nods at Eric, before shuffling down to the slums, chewing tobacco as he went. Ooc: You forgot to subtract the purchase from Sarge's gold. He should have 176 now. Edited May 18, 2015 by Pyrovisionary
