Round One of the Floraphant Battle:

Sarge flees

Heckz flees

THE BATTLE IS TERMINATED!

Sarge begins to draw his sword but hesitates - They would need their strength for the Ship-wreck. He beckons for Heckz to flee with Sarge. It was cowardly and weak to flee but there were only two of them, and they'd be better prepared for the shipwreck. While running through the undergrowth he puts a great potion into his Hollow Demonic greatsword. He also downs a nostrum, whilst Heckz drinks mead.

They make their way to the Shipwreck shore

When the pair of fleeing heroes thrashed through the bushes to the Shipwreck Shore, night fell upon them along with a heavy rain. On the beach they almost trampled a group of minuscule men. They were frantically searching something from the sand.

"Righto! Good to see you, Barty! Where in Hels have you been?"

Barty just rolls his eyes. "I don't condone treasure hunting when there are so many bigger fish to fry."

Boomingham nods. "I told these chaps, we get the treasures, they owe us a favor. We'll deal with Ulrica yet." Boomingham watches Eric slyly out of the corner of his eye as he drops the name. "Rex, let's get the big baddie!" Rex and Boomingham attack the Shaman from the front row.

OoC: Put Rex last in case of another truce.

Slightly annoyed, Eric gruffly grunted at Rex: "Why did you go and do that? I was about to take down one of these miscreants!"

Eric attacks Beastman Warrior A, then Beastman Warrior B, from the front row, using Godricsleif.

Battle order:

Eric

Eric

Boomingham

Rex

Sarge stares in surprise at the small men, considering ignoring them but hesitating. "You lot wouldn't have happened to see two or three ugly blokes carrying a statue leaving here? What the hell are you doing here anyway - what are you?"

Dig It Up

Assignment: “Our vessel got caught in the storm, but me and the boys managed to make it to the shore safely. However, when we went to explore our surroundings, the waves buried the whole ship under the sand! Now we cannot find it anywhere. Could you big people help us little fellows?~ Weepadel, Lilliput Merchant

Reward: “I can sell you stuff from our cargo with a BIG discount.

The Liliput's cargo sounded good - As long as it was normal sized. "Sure we'll help. Just gizza few minutes to explore the wreckage" Sarge and Heckz make their way to the wreckage of the Titaanic

A sly grin crept unto Eric's face once more. The Nord was content with the swift crushing of his foes, even more so that he had gained some gold in the process. It truly had been a while since he last stole something...

He picked up the Crystal Skull and examined it closely, but then shrugged. "Doesn't really look special to me. Plenty of skulls in the world." He then casually tossed the artifact to Boomingham. "You keep it for now".

Loot distribution:

Eric: Meat Lump, Bone, Ancient Bone

Boomingham: Meat Lump, Bone, 70 gold

Rex: Meat Lump

Boomingham caught the skull deftly and slipped it into his bag.

"You got it. Good folks, those were-lions. Glad it didn't come to blows between us." Barty flashes into existence next to him for just a brief second and jerks his head toward the Nord before flashing back to other planes. Boomingham rolls his eyes. The heroes and their compatriot start to clamber out of the Beastman's Lair. "Listen chappo, have a question for you. Might seem a bit arbitrary seeing how far from Eubric we are at the moment, but I can't help but imagine you've heard of or come up against the Wolfgang in Eubric, no? All these political games over here in Salamadna has got me thinking about them a bit. What's your take on this King of Eubric? Ulric, right?"

"Very well. We'll be here - unless the rain hasn't drowned us by then."

Sarge and Heckz continued along the beach towards south until they saw the figure of an enormous cargo ship ahead. The ship looked like nothing they had ever seen sailing on the seas. They soon spotted two of the Rakshasa staring at the wrecked hull as well.

"Whoa! I don't understand how that thing stayed afloat in the first place!"

heroicaquest130-nalahfiremane.jpg

"Those dwarven engineers sure are something, Tarzean. Too bad none of them survived the trip. Makes our job that much easier. The Tyrant Statue is said to be worth a long penny."

The werelions then heard the heroes approaching.

heroicaquest130-tarzeanlongmane.jpg

"Damn, looks like it won't be that easy, after all - the competition's here!"

heroicaquest130-nalahfiremane.jpg

"Ah, Mister Brutenhal. I see you brought a friend, as well. My compliments for daring to face me in a race for the treasure." A small flame flickered in Nalah's hand. "I am not called Firemane for nothing, you see. Catch us if you can!"

The werelions dashed to the wreckage, leaving the heroes no other choice but to follow.

~TREASURE HUNT #3: THE WRECKAGE OF THE TITAANIC~

heroicaquest130-titaanicmap.jpg

The party must decide which path they would take from the start to the treasure. They must choose between the right and the left path twice. Whichever party reaches the treasure with the least amount of turns taken, wins the race.

The Rakshasa will choose whichever paths the heroes do not take.

"Listen chappo, have a question for you. All these political games over here in Salamadna has got me thinking about them a bit. What's your take on this King of Eubric? Ulric, right?"

"I'm familiar with the Wolfgang", Eric simply said. "Heck, I've even met Ulric in the flesh", the Nord thought to himself but found it to be wiser to keep that thought only to himself now.

"People always need someone to lead. Someone they can follow. There will always be sheep and wolves, those who rule and those who are ruled. Right now, it's the Houses that rule. If the Wolfgang wins, Ulric will rule. The game will not change, nor will its set of rules. Only thing that will change is who's at the top of the pyramid."

"Frankly I don't really care much for either the Houses or Ulric's ideas. A benevolent king that wants nothing but the best for his underlings? Please. It's just a gimmick if you ask me."

Eric stopped walking and looked at Boomingham. "I support me and I look what situation and what side can gain me the most. Perhaps the cards lay different for you, but right now, Ulric is the one I get to gain most from. The Bonapartes will perish and my fortunes will rise. I once heard someone compare chaos to a ladder. Ulric will bring chaos and then, ..., well my friend, I intend to climb this 'ladder' to the highest rung."

He let out a soft chuckle. Steering his gaze away from Boomingham and starting to walk again, the Nord added: "I'm not one of those simpletons that merely want to watch the world burn. If I wanted the world to burn, it would solely be because I could then sell its ashes for a profit and become better of it myself."

The party takes the left then the Left path, not searching for traps and jumping over holes, destroying barricades with magic.

The heroes chose the left path from the start, and then turned straight towards the treasure. On the way they passed seven empty tiles (7 turns), jumped over four holes (15 turns) and destroyed three barriers with Heckz's spells (21 turns, Heckz: -3 ether). They also tripped on one trap, hindering their way (26 turns).

Meanwhile, Nalah and Tarzean advanced through the right side of the ship, moving through six empty tiles (6 turns), jumping over four holes (14 turns) and destroying three barriers with fire (20 turns). However, there were two traps on their path (30 turns), which meant that the heroes made it to the treasure first.

The Tyrant Statue glittered in the darkness of the cargo hold, but before the heroes managed to grab it, two dwarven zombies lurched towards them.

Ooc: If you guys wanna join us and regroup that'd be nice, but as unlucky as I've been this quest, Sarge drunk a nostrum. :classic: Also we could do the poisons subquest after this, earn us some more cash.

Battle order:

Sarge attacks Dwarven Revenant Captain (double) from the back row

Sarge attacks Dwarven Revenant Captain (double) from the back row

Heckz casts a darkness spell at Dwarven revenant from the back row

OoC: Speaking of gold increasing artifacts, Sandy, I haven't gotten my 10 gold from the last two battles. Also, what time of day are Eric and I in. And Pyro, Boomingham said he was planning to try to get something real done if he helped you guys with this current mission… so you might have to bribe him.

Boomingham scrunches up his face, trying to recall the Bonapartes from the Foundation Day Ball. He thought that perhaps they'd been a little rude to him, short, not really interested in leadership. He sighs. No dice remembering the exacts of it.

"Gold is only so good if you can spend it. Burning the world sort of costs your that opportunity, wouldn't you think?" Boomingham laughs heartily, but keeps his eyes locked on his friend's back. "Ulric seems fine and dandy enough, if he can win power on his own, I'm sure he'd be a fine leader. It's the witch I don't trust. She bring a whole different force to the table. Have you met her, chap?" Boomingham glances around the forest. "Where are we headed, again? Back to the Maramaducs?"

Results of Round One of the Titaanic Battle:

>Sarge vs. Dwarven Revenant Captain (twice) - Steal & Hide/Special Damage

>Sarge vs. Dwarven Revenant Captain (twice) - Special Damage/Shield (Arrogant Prick - Captain: 623 health-(111+111=222x8=1776 dmg)=0 health; Sarge: items stolen)

>Heckz (Darkness) vs. Dwarven Revenant - Sleight of Hand (Dwarf: confused, jinxed; Heckz: -2 ether)

In one arrogant prick, Sarge vanquishes the zombified captain and loots all his items, including the Tyrant Statue. Now only a single dwarven revenant stands in their way, and Heckz gets it jinxed and confused.

Results of Round Two of the Titaanic Battle:

>Sarge vs. Dwarven Revenant Captain (twice) - Shield/Special Damage/Damage/Critical Mortal Hit (Arrogant Prick - Dwarf: 318 health-(111+111=222x8=1776 dmg)=0 health; Sarge: items stolen)

>Sarge vs. Dwarven Revenant Captain (twice)

>Heckz (Darkness) vs. Dwarven Revenant

With Sarge being lucky and the enemy jinxed, the battle is over as quickly as it started.

THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS!

Sarge and Heckz gain a third of a level. The enemies have no more items to drop.

Ooc: Ok, so my plans are for Sarge and Heckz to find the Lillliput ship, then find the golden scorpion and take its venom, then return to the Marmaduc, have a shopping spree and finally, doing stuff for the sisters. Sarge gets kinda greedy with all this gold to be made.

Sarge smiles, for the first time this quest they had excelled in battle. He grins at Heckz, and slaps him on the back. As they exit the ship, the old man approaches the Lilliput. "Alright, we'll search for yer ship now. I'll use me magic compass if it helps."

"Gold is only so good if you can spend it. Burning the world sort of costs your that opportunity, wouldn't you think?" Boomingham laughs heartily, but keeps his eyes locked on his friend's back.

Eric laughed, albeit somewhat repressed. "Hehe, you got me. It was more a figure of speech than anything."

Eric met the witch, but he withheld that piece of information from Boomingham as well. "She's a wildcard. An unpredictable piece in the playingfield. I don't care much for her, but right now she's not my main concern."

The Nord grinned. "First the Houses come down. First he will rise up himself. Then he'd consolidate and further his power. If need be, the witch would go down. If need be...", he thought. His eyes flickered at the very prospect, the noble title he was promised in Ulric new Eubric. "Eric of Clan, no... Southerners don't use clans... Eric of House Njorrling-Eubric. Seamaster and Warden of the Crystalline Sea!"

Eric was pulled away from his thoughts by Boomingham's question. "Umm. Not quite sure. Marmaduc's is probably our best bet. Or we can go to Shipwreck Coast and regroup? I think both parties will be there at midnight then. Then we go to Marmaduc together?"

Boomingham massages his head, trying to recall what the map had looked like and who had it, besides. "Aren't we near Danab's Fountain?" he asks finally. "That must be something to someone - aren't the sisters we're protecting sisters of Danab? Might as well take a peak while we're here."

Ooc: Ok, so my plan is to go on a shopping spree through The slums - The port - The Luxor dunes - the palace district, after Sarge and Heckz find the Lilliput's boat and find the golden scorpion's venom. After that, doing work for the sisters is Sarge's priority. :classic:

"Much appreciated! I don't think any compass will do you any good, since the ship is right here, somewhere under all this sand."

The results of digging on Shipwreck Shore will be the following:

  1. Lilliput Ship
  2. Treasure
  3. Nothing
  4. Nothing
  5. Easy battle
  6. Difficult battle

Would Sarge and Heckz dig despite the odds?

QM Note: I will be away until Tuesday or Wednesday, so please don't expect updates until then.

Sarge gets out his shovel and starts digging

Sarge picked a random spot and started digging, while Heckz only pretended to do so, yawning and streching every once in a while. Suddenly Sarge's shovel hit something... It was the hull of a miniature ship, roughly the size of a large do.

"You found it on the first try! What competence!" Weepadel then ordered his men to help dig it up. "I want to see if the cargo is still all there."

The subquest is successful! The party's influence is increased!

Once the ship was completely dug up and hoisted back to the water, Weepadel emerged with a big grin.

Eric shrugged. "Don't really care about a fountain. I'd rather head to the Shipwreck Coast and meet with the others. I've got pieces of gold itching to be spend."

"Besides, like you said: it's the Sisters we're protecting so we're bound to wind up at their Danab Fountain sooner or later."

OOC: If we head to Shipwreck Coast now, the entire party will be there and it will be midnight for all, am I correct? I'd rather regroup the party, but if you want to check out the Fountain, that's fine with me too, Zepher :classic:
