Ooc: I'm all for regrouping :classic: . Also, Sandy, seeing as can sell weapons for 5xWp, would I be allowed to buy obscene amounts of Lilliput daggers and sell them for 5 times their price?

OoC: Since we're in the same "area of the map" as the fountain I don't think it will cost us any extra time to go there… right? Also sorry to leave you without someone to bounce against, Pyro. :cry_sad: But I am going to utilize this time with Sandy away to chat with Eric as much as I can. Have I mentioned how much I love this whole party?

Boomingham frowns. "Was it the cove they were going to? Thought they trundled on out to the desert. I say we take a look out the fountain while we're round these parts. It is the sisters we're here for anyway. Or at least I think it is."

"I'll level with you, Eric, but only because I've known you for such a Hel of a long time and it's been bugging me, and Barty's only so good to talk to. See, there's a wolf here, goes by the name Ulrica. She's trying to be made head hand-maiden to Danab or whatever the Hel they're all squabbling about. Seems mighty fishy to me, right?" He lowers his voice needlessly. "Besides, you remember Aunt Easter? I've got a good hunch that might be Zelda Zeigfried. Say what you want about the Bonapartes, they seem like they've got a stick wedged where the sun don't shine, but the Zeigfrieds have always seemed kind to me. I think she might be worried about what's happening in this city, and Eubric as a result. What do you make of it?" He scratches his temple. "Be careful with who you let in on all this. This is all in confidence, alright chappo? I don't know this or that about Pegleg or the pretty boy and who they might be looking to help. That goes for you too, Rex. Sworn oath, keep that mouth shut."

OoC: I think visiting the Fountain will cost us extra time since it's technically a "new" area even if it is within the Bog. If it doesn't cost us extra time, I'm willing to go there. If it does cost us extra time, Eric will go to the Coast.

The Nord's eyes widened and he blinked somewhat more than usual, trying to comprehend what Lawrence was telling him. Eric then proceeded to chuckle slightly. "Now, now, Lawrence. Are you discriminating against our lupine counterparts. I'm sure she's equally qualified for the job as a Human". He winked and then gradually turned more stoic and serious again. "So, you believe there's a connection between Ulrica and Ulric?"

"I'm not quite sure," Eric shrugged. "Ulric is quite a common name for those who follow the Path of the Wolf where I come from. The name means 'might of the wolf', so it could just be coincidence that Ulric and Ulrica share that name, them being Werewolves and all. One of the more powerful clans in the North, clan Isengrim, is well-known for the numbers of lycanthropes in its ranks. They see it as being blessed by Sarfangr himself. Hel, they even call the affliction 'the Blessing of Sarfangr'. Point is, many of the clan's folk are named Ulric or similar. To them its good omen. Catch my drift? Might be nothing to it. We need to find out more about this 'Ulrica' before jumping to conclusions."

He then tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. "I'm not really familiar with the Ziegfrieds. Can't recall having met them or having worked for them. I know of them, though. Heard they were a bunch of zany clowns and lunatics, but still quite powerful at their craft. I don't know what to make of it, really. Don't mages usually stay in their Circle and care little for the world outside of it?"

Boomingham chews on the inside of his cheek. "I suppose it's possible they're not related. I find it hard to believe though." Boomingham uncorks a mead and begins to drink it. "Got to wet my whistle. All this thinking… not nearly enough drink to go around. You're right though, we need to find out more about her. Those sisters are a tight-lipped bunch though."

"The Zeigfrieds are a zany crowd, as you might call them. But… even so…" Boomingham shakes his head. "Have to stand for something, don't you? Eubric is I guess the closest place to home I have, and Ulrica rising to power here seems to spell trouble for us back on Uland. That witch… and as you say, Ulric doesn't truly seem the man of the people he pretends to be. Not when he has to use brainwashing to get his way."

QM Note: You can freely move within the same region without spending time, and the Fountain of Danab belongs to Kalakita region.

Pyro, you can keep on digging to initiate a battle on the Shore. On a roll of one, you will get a treasure from now on.

And I knew I should have implemented a limited stock for Weepadel's shop.

Thanks for clarifying! We'll be with you shortly, Pyro. Hang on in there!

"Let's check out that Fountain, then. Better be some damn spectacular fountain", Eric smirked.

QM Note: Sorry for the continued delay. I got some new LEGO I wanted to build and a new phone I needed to learn, too. First world problems, I know...

"Let's check out that Fountain, then. Better be some damn spectacular fountain", Eric smirked.

Eric, Boomingham and Rex decided to make a detour and check out the place called Danab's Fountain that was marked on their map. When they got there, they saw a woman gazing into the pool that glistened in starlight.

heroicaquest130-danabsfountain.jpg

The woman heard the heroes rustling through the undergrowth, and as she turned they saw that she was actually a wereparrot.

heroicaquest130-auntelessa.jpg

"Greetings, weary travellers! You have arrived to the Blessed Fountain of Mother Danab, a place of rest and tranquility for all living creatures. I am Aunt Elessa, and I have been assigned to watch over this fountain while the others attend the Conclave. Would you like a drink from the pond? It costs you nothing, but it will sooth both your body and your soul. Just do not mind the beasts of the forest that may come in for a drink as well. They will not harm you here as long as you do not threaten them."

Sarge keeps digging then

Sarge dug around, but found nothing.

Sarge retries until he finds something

QM Note: That's unfortunately not how this "minigame" works. Digging for stuff is supposed to be frustrating. You can have Heckz dig too to double the effort, though.

Sarge tried again but still found nothing.

Boomingham shrugs. "Sure I'll drink from your pond. Why the Hel not?" He bends down and cups his hands, taking a sip of the water. "How'd you get stuck with this bum duty? Don't they want your vote as well? Seems everyone has someone they need to be Queen of the Sisters or they'll keel over dead."

Eric looked unpleasantly surprised when the woman turned around. He crossed his arms and stared at her in disbelief when she spoke of the Fountain's magical properties.

"What sets this pond apart from any other pond?", Eric asked. He then unveiled one of his Meads and said: "This is the only drink that'll soothe my soul. Your Danab holds no reign over my soul, nor my body."

Boomingham felt refreshed by the sweet, pure water he drank, and the threat of fatigue fell off his shoulders.

"This fountain has long been sacred to our sisterhood, but when the Witch of the Bog appeared decades ago, she made it impossible for us to visit it anymore. I heard she even allowed a Foul Wyvern to besmear it, but a group of heroes from Eubric came, defeated the wyvern and purified the fountain. Soon after that, the witch left. I do not know why or where she went, but ever since that there has always been a Sister of Danab watching over this sacred fountain so it would not be as easily tainted again. It is worth sacrificing one vote in the Conclave, that is what Revered Aunt Verdra said."

heroicaquest130-auntelessa.jpg

"You will know when you drink. No wine or liquor can match the taste of Mother's blessed water. But hush now, something is coming." Aunt Elessa motioned the trio to step back as a gargantuan creature carrying a whole tree on its back appeared to drink from the pool. "Look! The legendary Enki has graced us with her presence!"

Aunt Elessa walked to the great beast and patted it's muzzle.

heroicaquest130-auntelessa.jpg

"This poor beast is among the last of its kind in this bog. Those accursed Venomari Cobra Priests have hunted them down because of the potent venom extracted from the bark on the tree they carry on their backs. In a twist of fate, the Enki cannot live without their poisonous trees."

Sarge pockets the crystal chalice, grinning. Heckz wouldn't find anything good, the lazy child was only good for magic. The old man begins to scorn Heckz for the scorpions emerging from his hole, until a golden one follows. Perfect.

Battle order

Sarge attacks Ebony scoprion A (& Ebony scorpion b)

Sarge attacks the Golden scorpion (Double) from the back row

Hecks attacks Crimson scorpion A

OoC: Hey guys. I'm back for a small while but I've still got about two more weeks of work ahead of me. I may be able to update once a day now, though, so I'm going to catch up on the quest. And it's okay if Heckz doesn't earn rewards that were earned during the time he was inactive.

Heckz is disgusted by the amount of vermin that can come out of a single hole. As Sarge begins to scorn him, Heckz begins to scorn back.

"My fault? Those spider-looking things clearly loved that chalice and you stole it from them! Now, stand back and let the useful one here do his job."

Heckz rapidly flings frost (Ice) at the Crimson Spider-Looking Thing A from the back row.

"Hmpf". Reluctantly Eric drank a smidget of the Fountain's water. He didn't really seem to full much at first. The Nord's eyes widened when he saw the tree-clad creature nearing the water. "Venasaur Enki...", he muttered.

"No wonder there's not a lot of them left. They're worth a ton of gold. So this is the last one, eh? How will it reproduce, then?", Eric asked, purposefully misinterpreting the wereparrot's words.

Eric felt invigorated by the water as well, and Rex decided to drink as well to keep the fatigue away for few more days.

"Strange...", the Nord remarked, but decided to give the occurrence no further thought.

"She is not the last, but her kind is on the brink of extinction, at least in these swamps. If you ask me, the death of these beautiful, gentle giants cannot be measured in gold."

"Some would say the death of these gentle giants would measure exactly 1000 gold pieces. So, it's probably up for debate"

The longer Eric stared at the beast, the more his lust to slay it dwindled and the thought of the reward slowly dissipated. "You say these are gentle creatures. Does that make them easy to kill? Is that why so few are left?"

OoC: Crimson Scorpion A should be jinxed

Heckz coughs as he is sprayed with poiso and nervously shouts at the black knight.

"Idiot! Did you know the idiot man-child ruined these clothes already, or do you want them to look like yours! Now, stand back and allow me to get rid of these pests."

Heckz casts a darkness spell at Spider-Looking Thing A from the back row.

Aunt Elessa squinted her eyes.

heroicaquest130-auntelessa.jpg

"So you know the street market value, then? It must mean you have been in contact with the Venomari. I beg of you not to listen to a word they say. They have weaseled their way into the Almagesta's court, but their cult will be the death of us all. All they want are the riches of Salmanda, no matter the cost." Elessa stepped in front of the Enki protectively. "I would advice you to leave now. The Enki will surely put up a fight if you try to harm it, but I will allow this holy place to be tarnished by bloodshed!"

Boomingham glances at his Nordic friend. "There are many strange sights in this world," he says to the were-parrot. "I am glad I can see this one. What a beautiful creature." Boomingham ventures forward timidly and attempts to pat the muzzle as well.

Alarmed by Eric's words, the Sister of Danab did not let Boomingham approach the Enki.
