Zepher Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 "I understand, madam." Boomingham grins. Despite all the grave warnings, he was having a pretty good time chatting with the elderly witch. He recalled specifically from the Foundation Ball that she'd been one of the only leaders willing to actually have a conversation with the heroes. "I'm asking you, friend to friend, what you think our next move ought to be. I don't know thing one about the Conclave, whereas you seem to actually have an idea of what might be going on within those chambers. If Ulrica is really up to no good, will the other sisters listen? Will they oust her? Seems like support is there for her at the least." "It's good to know what good ol' wolfie is up to as well. Didn't like him alongside that Baba, but he can hardly be a good leader, even on his own, if he's looking at the jaws of death. Seems like a leader should have more optimism than that." "As for the poisoners, I will keep an eye out for them. Poison is a cowards weapon. I doubt you've forgotten the time I was moved to save you and your kin from the devious poisoner Steerpike." Boomingham omits from this speech his own favorite blade, poisoned by the poison Steerpike had left behind.

Boomingham omits from this speech his own favorite blade, poisoned by the poison Steerpike had left behind. QM Note: Technically, this quest takes place way before the event of #135. Timey-wimey, I know... "If Ulrica has really resorted to such desperate measures as to kidnap a novice, the Sisters will not tolerate that. Sure, she has her supporters, but so do Ovelia and the local Revered Aunt, Verdra. If I remember the Sisterhood's codex correctly, two thirds of all Conclave participants are required to deem a representative unsuitable to attend. And of course I remember that dreadful ball. I believe nobody in Eubric can rest easy as long as that Barbariccia woman is at large in the city. I do not believe I ever thanked you and your companions for your part in solving that, so thank you, Sir Boomingham." At that moment, the Almagesta returned, escorted by the Black Scorpion Knight. The queen did not look happy. "It is done. With a heavy heart I had to relieve three royal knights of their duties and send them into exile from Salmanda for their crimes. Without your aid, Sir Boomingham and Rex, I would still harbor those snakes at my hems without knowing about it. I will give you this as a token of my gratitude." Royal Seal of Salmanda (Grants the holder access everywhere in Salmanda at any time of the day; quest item.) "I just wish there had been another way..." "BAH! Those scumbags got what they asked for! Always stay loyal to the person who pays your salary, I'd say." With their business at the palace done with, where would Boomingham and Rex go next?
Cutcobra Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) "Ah, you must have forgotten that the private beach is only open for customers. You do not have the wererhino with you this time, have you?" "Very well, then. I'm sure all the citizens and tourists of Salmanda would be happy to know that this so called resort is an absoulte pile of shit, after they hear it from my influential and reputable self. That Marigold Hotel is way better, anyways." Heckz slowly walks away, attempting the idiot whose name he forgot to stop him and give him free entry. If he does leave, he returns to the Palace District. Edited October 14, 2015 by Cutcobra
Zepher Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 "Thank you. Once more, I apologize for the ill news, but I thought it best that the city be purged of dishonest knights. I strongly encourage that the Black Scorpion pick the next batch. He is a good man." Boomingham bows, and speaks directly to the Black Scorpion. "If you need a drink tonight to get over this, let me know. You can buy." He winks and then heads back out onto the street with Rex, whom he pats on the shoulder. "Not such a bad team, you and I. Another mission complete, and the city better off for it. I think we ought to head to the Conclave and sort out this Ulrica business. Didn't you say you came with some sisters as well? Which ones were they?" Boomingham inquires as he goes to meet the sisters.
Khorne Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Sarge slid the gold off of the table and into his satchel for safekeeping - right next to the tyrant statuette. At Eric's indication of the compass, he immediately pocketed the damned thing and bit his lip. "I'm on the way out. This'll find me way back in. Then -" He drew the knife he'd bought from those midgets - a butterfly knife- and stabbed it hard into the table with a thud "Then, all them try-hards back in Eubric. Kaboom." He winked at Eric and grinned with empty eyes. Before calming down and pocketing the knife. "It's for the curse, innit." He muttered downtrodden. Eric only half-knew what Sarge was mumbling about, but he did agree on his views concerning Eubric. "Right there with you. Eubric could do with a clean-up", the Nord grinned widely. Eric saw Boomingham leave the Palace and walked up to the old Paladin. "How did things go with the Almagesta?", he inquired and then said: "There's something else too. I've got some business to finish up at the beggars' shelter, but I believe I will need the book you have on you to do so. The one about the money stuff?" I could of course be mistaken, but I do believe that's the key to solving the Straw to Gold subquest, which I do want to wrap up.
Zepher Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 OoC: Sorry, I phrased it weirdly, but yeah I know about the timey-wimeyness of quests. Basically he was saying that now regardless of Baba he dislikes Ulric, not that she had left. Boomingham grins and shows off his new Royal Seal. "A token of thanks from our friend the queen. The ladies on the beach may like you, chappo, but royalty has an eye for finer things." He chuckles and searches around in his satchel for the book. "What are you looking to do with it? Never took you for a reader." He passes the book to Eric. "I'll come with you. Enough of this splitting this way and that. I need to get to the conclave, and I could use someone to bad up my story about Peri and Ulrica."

The day turned to evening as the heroes (sans Heckz) returned to the Temple of Danab. They arrived just in time to see Ulrica storm out of the front doors, accompanied by the Rito, Aunt Kree. They didn't notice the heroes closing in on them. "What a bunch of hypocrite spinsters! If they had seen what I have seen, they would be wetting their petticoats and flocking north to ask Sarfangr to deliver them through Ragnarök! Instead they had the nerve to throw me out of their sewing circle!" "It was just not meant to be. What are you going to do now?" "This path has proven to be the wrong one. I had hoped to get at least some of these women to see the truth and help me spread the word, but now I have to return to Värtland and start all over." "If your visions are true - if all of Olegaia is really going to drown in a great flood - then what hope is there? We Rito can always fly to the highest mountaintops, but what about all the other nations?" "I have faith in my son. Sarfangr has shown me that salvation lies within the Kingdom of Moon, and that can only be in Uland. It is no kingdom yet, but my son is doing his everything to change that." At that moment, the Rito sister saw the eavesdropping heroes and pointed them out to the werewolf. Ulrica bared her fangs. "It is no use, Ulrica. Let's just go." What would the heroes do? Cutcobra Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 "Say hello to Madame Lavender for me." "I hope you and that yellow grin freeze in Hel." He then looks at the Anubian. "Or wherever you furry beasts go to die." It was midnight when Heckz made it back to the city. The square was almost deserted, and only a shadowy figure of a woman loomed over the flowerbed in the middle. Heckz heard her sobbing. The first thing that Heckz notices is the fact that the other heroes didn't wait for him. Idiots. Now he notices the creepy crying lady. Khorne Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 "Well then, if it isn't the cowardly Rito", Eric grinned his canines bare too, in a semi-feral way. He snorted dismissively and spat on the ground. "Are you going to fly away again this time?" His grin slid away and turned into a short burst of laughter at Ulrica's statement. "What makes you believe the End-Times are upon us, She-Wolf? Olegard will not come to its end yet, for the twilight of the gods is still far away from us. Wartan still rules supreme, with his loyal kinsmen at his side. Njordon will keep his ocean-kingdom at bay. There will be no all-engulfing flood." Eric waved away Ulrica's stories with his hand, but inside he was less certain. "What if the She-Wolf is indeed telling the truth and that the End is indeed upon Olegard?"
Pyrovisionary Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Sarge drew the demonic greatsword and held it out at arms length to his side, blocking the sisters. He stayed silent, and smirked smugly. He snorted in amusement and maintained an aged malevolent grin, then took a step forward. Waiting for the others to make there move.

"Du är godtrogen, människa! And blind, too! Have you not seen the turmoil this world has been as of late? And worse is to come, Sarfangr has shown it to me! A great flood, burning cities, a devastating plague... The forces of evil are at large in the world, and we should all be wailing in despair!" "Listen! We are going to leave Salmanda now, Ulrica and me. Even though we were thrown out of the Conclave, you cannot harm us. Not in front of the Vindicators. So just let us leave peacefully, alright?" Now he notices the creepy crying lady. Being a gallant hero, in other words, trying to get some, Heckz approaches the woman. "Oh noes, what happened? I can surely help you." He puts up his everlasting fake smile. The woman turned, and Heckz saw that she was no damsel in distress, but a ghoulish werepanther with a manic grimace on her face. Aside from the sharp fangs, she had enormous claws on both hands. What would Heckz do?

Eric gritted his teeth and put up a half-hearted defense. "Och du är en lögnare! The world has always been a mess. I don't see how the current state of things forbodes the end of Olegard." "Wail in despair?", Eric scoffed in a mocking tone. "You go ahead and wail, but that's not my way of dealing with things." The Nord pointed at the Rito. "The She-Wolf can go for all I care, but you and I have unfinished business."
Zepher Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Boomingham draws his sword. The others had helped him with the rainbow knights, now it was his turn. "Listen, madam, I have no soft spot for your son but I'm with these chaps. If you want to go, go."

Aunt Kree pointed her spear at Eric. "Go, Ulrica. If this savage wants a fight, I will give him a fight." "May the Goddess guide your hand, Sister Kree." Ulrica glared at the heroes one last time and departed. Aunt Kree looked at the heroes defiantly. "So, are the four of you all going to gang up on me? Or will you at least give me a fair duel with the savage one?"

Pyrovisionary Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Sarge lowered his sword and leant on its pummel - listening the the Rito and her Canine mistress. "So, are the four of you all going to gang up on me? Or will you at least give me a fair duel with the savage one?" He put his hand on Eric's chest, stepped forward and gritted his teeth. "I aint had that much action here, I'll handle this glorified owl." the old man hefted the demonic greatsword onto his shoulder with ease. "You'll see what a real angel looks like when Orthaniel comes for your soul" he gestured at aunty Kree.
Cutcobra Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Heckz covers his ears. "You'll die slowly for that! Well, slower than planned!" Heckz attemptsto fight fire with fire and casts a darkness spell on the horrendous creature of darkness, from the back row.
Zepher Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Boomingham chuckles. "I don't think you're going to get between Eric and a girl he's interested in that easily, peg leg."

"You'll see what a real angel looks like when Orthaniel comes for your soul" he gestured at aunty Kree. "You will do no such thing!" The doors of the temple had swung open, and the sisters stood on the doorway, horrified at the sight of warriors threatening one of their own. The Vindicators pointed their spears at the heroes as well. Aunt Ovelia walked to the Rito. "I thought you were gone already, Sister Kree", she said with a chilly voice. "Hmpf!" The Rito then flew away, leaving the heroes facing a mob of angry nuns. Even Periwinkle scolded them. "What were you thinking, causing a scene like that right here on the Mother's doorstep?! Let's go, before the aunts tear you all a new one!" "You won't have to tell ME twice!" Periwinkle rejoined the party. Where would the heroes go next? ~*~*~*~*~ Results of Round One of the Lang Suir Battle: >Heckz (Darkness) vs. Lang Suir - Great Spell/Spell (Lang Suir: 372 health-60 dmg=312 health+weakened+jinxed; Heckz: -2 ether) Heckz debilitates the wailing ghoul with a great dark spell. Khorne Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 "Damn you!", Eric cursed aloud and raised his fist at the fleeing Rito. "I'll get you! Mark my words, your day will come!" The Nord shook his head in disbelief at Peri's words. "What are you talking about? She kidnapped you, one of her own order. She's a traitor to whatever cause you serve. If you had let us deal with it, the Rito would've gotten what she deserved." Seething with anger, Eric strode off to wherever the homeless and downtrodden people's shelter was the Slums, I think?. The thought of reaping a possible reward somewhat eased his mind, but he'd still need to kill something to be completely satisfied.
