While the heroes were finishing the monsters, the Cobra Priest looked after Periwinkle.

He then walked over to the corpse of one of the slain creatures and plunged his sword in the carcass, skinning the dead beast.

The party scouted onwards, following the path made by the fleeing beasts, until they came to a clearing with multiple abandoned tentpoles, dropped foodstuff and lukewarm fireplaces. Djuvali inspected the site with dread.

"Wow...", Eric respondes to Peri, somewhat flabbergasted. "You really ought to work on your jokes more."

Eric turned to Djuvali in a more threatening manner. "Take a cue from this guy. He's playing a big joke on us. Leading us away from the city knowing these desert rats can't hold their own against the Snake Priests."

The Nord tossed his skinnings on the ground and sheathed his sword. "Whoever wants the leather, take it. I'm off to the city to deal with this mess and then get out of here. I've about had it with these people."

Taking a swig of Mead, Eric strode back to Salmanda.

Sarge handed the floraphant leather to Heckz for fashion purposes and grumbled at Peri, disgruntled.

When they arrived at the site, he looked over it with the nostalgia of a soldier. It reminded him of the old camps in Charis. As neither Peri nor Boomingham had responded to his request for healing, he let boomingham heal him, then headed for the city

Boomingham clears his head as he watches Sarge chugging some potions. He puts his hand over the lids.

"Sorry, chappo. Getting distracted. The wife always said my brain wasn't much good for remembering." He heals Peri, Sarge, and Rex to full health.

QM Note: Apologies for the lack of illustrations, I had to dismantle most of the MOCs for this quest when I moved, and my building time has been very limited recently.

When the heroes arrived to the city gates, they saw the large gates wide open, and the guards dead on the ground. They could see smoke and hear screams coming from ahead. Quickly they split up to cover as much ground as they could.

Boomingham, Heckz and Rex hurried back to the Floral Square in front of the Almagesta's Palace. There they saw the Black Scorpion Knight defending the palace gates with some guards. They were up against a horde of Venomari cultists with fearsome weresnakes among them.

Near the raging battle, the heroes saw Vipersace's boutique in flames. The weresnake merchant himself tried to appeal to the cultists.

Boomingham glances at Vipersace and sees the light fading from his eyes too quickly to be saved. He digs around in his pouch, his hand brushing briefly over the Phoenix Essence before realizing reviving the snake would only lead to his death again, unless they can unpin him from the door, for which there was no time. Boomingham instead decides to honor him with vengeance.

He quickly sniffs a smelling salt with his initiative as Rex drinks his Soma.

Boomingham next drinks a Nostrum and attacks the Blakesnakeman from the back row with his Frozen Saber. Rex attacks the Bluesnakeman from the back row.
