The Rockling claps his hat back on his head before taking another drink from his tankard.

"It was a Scarlet Worm, you see. The biggest one I ever saw. Nearly the size of a small barge. You see, I was minding my own business just passing the Brumpknob depot when it attacked me. I was glad to make it out of the tunnels alive, you see."

"Aye? Sounds like a nasty thing. Might go and take a look, a tussle with a worm is something to add to the list of beasties I beat."

"Perhaps, but they'd best try and keep their politics to themselves upstairs and not try and bring any of it down here. Can't see how they'd do it though, seems to me they're always squabbling too much to ever make a united nation on their own. No, they'll probably be invaded before they ever organize into something civilized."

"Oh, it isn't that bad up there. From what I know, the Free Islands have remained that way for centuries because it's in everyone's interests to keep them so. Besides, we have Heroica to keep us safe. Surely you've read about them from your paper? I hired my bodyguards from Heroica. Cost me a fortune, but they have truly been worthwhile."

Alfred's appearance suddenly caused stirring, and Ellaria raised her hands in the air. "Please, do not be alarmed! The golem is with us, and perfectly under control!"

She then marched to Nur, disgruntled by the mage's inconsiderate stunt. "Nur, please! Do you really have to flaunt your golem all over the place? Can't you see that his presence is deeply upsetting the dwarves! Do you want to get us in trouble?!"

"Best take care then, you see, those things have an acid strong enough to dissolve even Rocklings."

"Heroica aye? Not the same place as what we had down here few years back?" At Ellaria's calming the Dwarf takes his hand off his weapon.

"I am uncertain. We did hear they were here before from Lady Thisbeen. Do you have any more insight on the incident?"

En Sabah Nur learned what he had needed. He gave a curt bow in deference to Ellaria. "I am truly sorry Mistress. For this inconvenience, please feel free to reduce my pay in any way you see fit since you're not even paying me a single copper ..." Nur recalled Alfred then walked to the mouseman who didn't seem to have or show any strong feelings about his golem. "Hello there, friend. Do you mind if we sit here?"

"Damn, mate. Ya' were just passin' by the...the hell is a depot? We don't have many of those were I come from. Do these worms usually come that close to the cities?"

"Well they say it was dark dwarves, but I say it was a Mindflayer that got all them golems riled up. Next thing you know heroes showing up, doing their business in some secret cavern and poof all the golems stop attacking."

En Sabah Nur learned what he had needed. He gave a curt bow in deference to Ellaria. "I am truly sorry Mistress. The mouse-headed man blinks at Nur but doesn't say a word, though he does move aside from the table to make room for Nur.

"The depot, you see, is the spot where they unload all the goods coming from the inner cities to here in Krumpknob. Whole maze of mine cart tracks, you see."

Ellaria thanked the dwarven guard for the information, and then returned to her quest mates. "I guess we now know what we face in the tunnels: golems, scarlet worms, dark dwarves and maybe even a mindflayer. Perhaps we should head out before before we hear about even more fearsome beasts lurking there..."

Tesni bought a Pickled Mushroom "Ok, m'lady. We have one mission already and if those tunnels are all linked we'll probably get a chance to fight a big worm anyway."

Nur stared awkwardly at the mouse man. "So...do you hail from these parts? You seem like an interesting fellow with stories to share?"

QM Note: I'll wait to see if Atramor wants to do anything else before moving you folks on.

His curiosity sated, Atramor returns to the party.

"Aye. I don't even know where to start with figurin' out this mythril business. Maybe these worms have been meltin' it down, maybe they're hidin' it intentionally. Maybe we can ask the chief for the directions he gave the other heroes and retrace their steps to find this 'great vein' of the stuff."

As the Party begins to exit the tavern they notice Dumora walking towards them, a pack upon her back and two scroll tubes at her side. The vindicator removes two pieces of parchment and presents them before the Party.

"As I promised: maps. Here's one of Krumpknob and another of the entire under-mountain."

"Now, if you're all ready, we'll head..."

A loud rumble followed by what sounds like an explosion can be heard coming from the center of the city as the docks begin to sway. A thick cloud of dust begins to rise from somewhere near Meladonna's Surplus.

What shall the party do?

Posted

"Oh no, sounds like trouble. Hope nobody is hurt!" Ellaria drank a potion to replenish her health before rushing to see the site of the explosion.

The Party rushes to the scene of the disturbance. Arriving near Meladonna's surplus the Party sees a good deal of rubble that has spilled out of one of the extensive tunnels.

"Cave in. Well that certainly might make it difficult to get out of town."

"I think there is someone...buried-" En Sabah Nur kneeled near the rubble. "-in there. Not quite sure if it'd be safe for us to move anything yet." Nur used his magnifying glass on and around the rubble.

Ellaria rushed to the dwarf that is half buried, checking to see if it is safe to move him. "Are you alright, sir? What happened here?"

"I think there is someone...buried-" En Sabah Nur kneeled near the rubble. "-in there. Not quite sure if it'd be safe for us to move anything yet." Nur used his magnifying glass on and around the rubble.

Nur can see that most of the rubble has settled though it is composed of some heavy boulders and large slabs of stone.

Ellaria rushed to the dwarf that is half buried, checking to see if it is safe to move him. "Are you alright, sir? What happened here?"

Ellaria only gets a slight grown from the dwarf who is most definitely trapped beneath a giant boulder.

"Ug."

"Nur, can you use your powers to move these boulders?" Ellaria asked as she used a potion on the dwarf herself. "Stay with us, sir! We are going to get you out of the bind in no time!"

"I will try but the debris is composed of some heavy boulders and large slabs of stone. I might require assistance perhaps from a tunneling creature or one with great strength to share the burden, eh Pirate?" En Sabah Nur attempts to remove the rubble with earth magic.

"Right..." Atramor shuffles briefly through his deck before expending one ether to summon his Cave Troll (Rock 6), who slobbers around and gives Atramor a clueless look. The drafter rolls his eyes a bit and points to the rubble.

"Dig this fella out, would ya'?"

The troll wipes its mouth with the back of his stony fist and starts slowly pulling the rocks off of the dwarf.

With help from both Atramor's summon and Nur's magic, the Party manages to extricate the dwarf from the rubble. Ellaria revives the miner with a potion and observes the good deal of rubble still within the tunnel.

"Oh my aching head."

17398261021_45a59416fc_t.jpg

"What happened in there?"

18028106395_00aa0d8625_t.jpg

"Don't rightly know, I was standing here at the entrance when I heard that large rumbling sounds. Next thing I know I'm buried under half the mountain. Not sure if there's anyone else in there."

"Well, we can hardly sit 'round and keep on wonderin'." Atramor points to the tunnel, and the Cave Troll gets to work trying to tunnel through the rubble. "What do ya'll think? Golems, scarlet worms?"
