Waterbrick Down Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 QM Note: Smithy will be up tonight. Ellaria looked around in awe. "A giant diamond... I never could have imagined such a thing. But what did you mean with burial location not fitting the man in front of the line? Are some burial places somehow better than others? And sorry, I did not introduce myself earlier: Doctor Ellaria Arbour from Eubric Freeport. Where is it you are travelling from, err... sir?" "The Babaleth Darklands, I have a cousin whom lives down here. Apparently the Dwarf doesn't want to be placed next to certain relatives of his family, I do wish someone with some sense would step in, their bickering does take away from the atmosphere of the place."
Peppermint_M Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 "Well sod." Tesni looked around. The noises of steel working and also carousing caught her ear. "The Smithy before the pub." She stumbled into town, well recalling a shopping spree after a drinking session that had not been of the wisest investments. Yes, a good bit of iron working and then a drink was just the ticket.

She stumbled into town, well recalling a shopping spree after a drinking session that had not been of the wisest investments. Yes, a good bit of iron working and then a drink was just the ticket. Tensi heads for the nearest sounds of hammers and on her way, bumps into Nur. "Well my mission is clear. Thank ye for the goodies." En Sabah Nur heads to Odin's Smithy. Nur prepares to enter Odin's Smithy when he bumps into Tesni. The pair open the door to the forge to the sound of singing and cheering from within. "...for he's a jolly good fellow and nobody can deny..." Edited June 23, 2015 by Waterbrick Down
Jebediahs Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Nur leaned sideways toward Tesni. "The owner's birthday. Impressive cake." Inhaling deeply, the mage took a step forward. "Here, here! A finer gentleman and craftsman cannot be found in all the cities under the Mountain. Or so I've been told...As a stranger to your city who has only recently arrived, I have had numerous citizens praise this man and thought as a visitor I would pay my respects." Alfred stood silently and surveyed the merriment that filled the smithy.

"What seems to be the hold-up here? I am carrying the ashes of the highly respected citizen of Krumbknob, Mr Thisbe, and his sister would want them to be delivered in a timely manner. So is there something I can do to solve your dispute and allow us all to move on with what is left with our lives?"

"Ah, well better mine than my brother. Get this man a drink and his lovely lady as well. Actually another drink for all of you, it has been a wonderful year and here's to many more." The group cheers again as they welcome Nur and Tesni into their midst. "So where do you come from, my fine friends? Tis not everyday that a humble smith receives such eloquent guests to his birthday celebration." "Or good looking..." The old dwarf smiles at Tesni. Ellaria sighed. So is there something I can do to solve your dispute and allow us all to move on with what is left with our lives?" Ellaria makes her way to the front of the line where a portly dwarf is arguing with the attendant. "No, I can't be placed next to her. She married a Codwell." "I'm sorry sir, but you're not giving me any options here." The portly dwarf frowns at Ellaria. "This imbecile can't seem to get it through his thick skull how simple my request actually is." "Actually it's not quite so simple, sir we have four crypts allotted to your family, lain next to each other left to right." "I know and if you'd listen to me, you'd see how you're unnecessarily complicating things, now: - I want to be laid to rest on an end of our section (either left or right) only if Aunt Agatha is next to me - Aunt Agatha doesn't want to be laid next my sister Helena nor laid on the right end of our section. - Helena doesn't want to be next to me if she's on an end of our section. - Uncle Reynold wants to be next Aunt Agatha or not next to me, and if he isn't on the left end of our section he wants to be on the right end of our section. Now isn't this clear?"
Sandy Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Now isn't this clear?" Ellaria pondered for a while, then nodded. "I agree, the solution is quite simple. Just mark the graves like this, from left to right: Aunt Agatha, you, Helena and Uncle Reynold That way everyone gets their will, no matter how absurd. Now, can we get the line moving?"

Tesni hoped the attention was more on the blade-set. Really hoped. "We are bodyguards escorting a lady to this fine city from Eubrick freeport."
Jebediahs Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 "Ah, indeed. We were given a slight reprieve in our duties when our shift ended. My name is En Sabah Nur and my traveling companion is the blade-mistress Tesni. I'm sure she could benefit greatly from your services. Perhaps after the festivities have settled? My equipment could also use tending to. Especially with a bit of mythril if ye ask me but never mind that for now. The chains are extremely sturdy but at the very least you could melt 'em down...I suppose."
CMP Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 "It makes plenty of sense and if you mean by way of saying you'd like a full alchemical analysis on the origination of the owner of this kidney stone, well then you should have simply said so, or at least thought so." The Mind-flayer snatches up the Kidney Stone and while swirling his potion in one hand plops the nephrological mass into a beaker of blue fluid. After a matter of minutes the alchemist removes the stone with a pair of tongs and hands it back to Atramor. "Basalt, unmistakable and quite boring. What I wouldn't have given for some Mylonite. What were you planning on doing with it?" "Ah, don't worry 'bout it. Was hopin' to get more information on the damn things to-..er, protect my employer more...effectively from them. Almost got stomped on the way form Krumpknob. Thanks for the help, mate." Atramor tilts his hat to the Mind-flayer and heads back outside.

Since you're a stranger to Brumpknob allow me to extend a warm welcome to you, I'm the owner of the local inn, The Rusty Mine Cart, mention to the bellhop that Mr. Stoute sent you and he'll see about setting you up with a free room for the night." "If you're quite finished Mr. Stoute, I believe we have quite a line. What was your request, Miss? "Thank you my friend, they are fitting gifts and I gladly accept them. If you're looking for a smithy you've come to the best one in town, my name's Odmin Ironfoot. We all do plenty of work in mythril down here, but if you're lady is partial to fine craftsmanship, she won't find any better armor in all of the under-mountain. Clearly I have gained their favor. "Well it is fortunate there is still work in mythril here, Odmin. Some folk in Krumpknob mentioned that mythril was in short supply." He looked to Tesni hoping she would take advantage of Odmin's services though he was unsure if her armour could get much better.

Ellaria smiled at the portly dwarf. "It was my pleasure to help. I am Doctor Ellaria Arbour from the alchemist's guild in Eubric, by the way. I might take up on your offer, Mr. Stoute. It seems our business here in Brumpknob will take some time..." "If you're quite finished Mr. Stoute, I believe we have quite a line. What was your request, Miss? Oh yes, you wish to deposit some remains here, I assume you have the proper paper-work, genealogies, and such?" Ellaria sighed, ready to give up on the bureaucratic dwarves. "I do not, for I am merely the carrier of the remains. I wish Miss Thisbeen had warned me about this beforehand... Just hand me the papers and I will do my best to fill them in. With your kind assistance, Dumora."

Sandy Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 "Genealogies and such information can be located in the archives, two floors below this one." Ellaria's heart sunk as she saw the papers. Everything seemed to literally require going through the rock to achieve down there... "And the archives are free access, I assume? Or is there a different stack of papers that I need to fill?" Ellaria searched for a way to the archives.

Jebediahs Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Nur gave Tesni a slight nod before moving to the were-raven. "Great cake, ya'll selected. There is no doubt it is from Samwerk's. I recently purchased some fine pastries from there. I understand they do deliveries?"

Everything seemed to literally require going through the rock to achieve down there... "And the archives are free access, I assume? Or is there a different stack of papers that I need to fill?" Ellaria searched for a way to the archives. The hallways through The Glittering were distinctly marked, though in Dwarvish, but Dumora has no problem leading Ellaria through the narrow hallways. As the duo approaches the door to the Archives, they hear an audible crash and a muffled shout. The light underneath the door is also extinguished. Dumora draws her sword and knocks on the door. "Everything alright in there." A voice behind the door answers. "Yes, just tripped over a scroll tube and knocked over the light. Very busy, no time for appointments I'm afraid." The Vindicator looks at Ellaria "What do ya think?" "Low production? Is there less to find or does someone want to make more money off those who need the ore?" Tesni mused aloud. "Low production, the carts have been bringing in less and less ore every day. Though what's the cause of it, your guess is as good as mine. We haven't heard a word from the mines in Frumpknob." Nur gave Tesni a slight nod before moving to the were-raven. "Great cake, ya'll selected. There is no doubt it is from Samwerk's. I recently purchased some fine pastries from there. I understand they do deliveries?" "They do indeed, though the soddin' delivery boy nearly dropped it, he was so sopping drunk. Samwerk's cakes are the best, have you tried their caraway seed muffins?" Edited June 28, 2015 by Waterbrick Down

She had Dumora's sword to back her up if there was a tight spot. "I think I've just about had it with dwarven bureaucracy. We are coming in, like it or not!"
