Waterbrick Down Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Atramor's Pegasus finishes off the guard mob as Dumora obliterates the remainder of the spear mob in a wrathful smite. Jebediahs Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 En Sabah Nur takes 175 gold and the Mythril Axe (WP: 15, Axe). "I'll take that...and a few coins to spend at Odmin's. This dwarf needs medical attention so he can stand trial for his crimes. Even with the righteous Dumora as witness, I'm sure the people of the Cities Under the Mountain will have a difficult time believing the High Priest was responsible for the mythril shortage."
Sandy Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 "Phew! Crisis averted! I could take at least one Mythril Shard, the Fire Bombs, and my share of the gold, please." Ellaria then used a Health Core on the High Priest. "Now will you explain yourself?"
CMP Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 "I'd like the scroll, some gold, and that shield. I s'pose the Ether Cores'll be split between me and Nur." Atramor shuffled the Pegasus back into its deck, and, unable to suppress his curiosity, walked around the Nautilis, examining it thoroughly while mumbling under his breath about various parts of a ship he recognized (or didn't).
Jebediahs Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 "As a true child of Oleg, your actions offend me. We're waiting, High Priest. Speak!" En Sabah Nur looked incredulously upon his servant as it spoke out of turn. Peppermint_M Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Calming from the battle was a struggle. Tapping into the dark power of Cysgodion was becoming risky... "Aye, a fair share of the loot for all. Thank's Nur..."

We're waiting, High Priest. Speak!" En Sabah Nur looked incredulously upon his servant as it spoke out of turn. "You're right and his actions against his own kind and clan deserve but one response." Dumora draws Foe Smiter. "I'd like the scroll, some gold, and that shield. Atramor discovers that the six Nautilis are fully plated in Mythril with enough cargo space to hold at least a couple dozen dwarves each. Scrounging further, the drafter comes upon a set of schematics with the imprint of the Tri-tech company upon them.

The High Priest might not answer to us, but he will answer to his people. Let's take him to the other chiefs, guys."
Peppermint_M Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 "We can't end it all down in this dark. Let's take it up to the light so everyone can see the scheming." Tesni said to the vindicator. "A swift blade now seems like the best thing, I can see that. But it will not be ended. More shadows will fall and the bad will crawl out to snatch hearts with lies."

Ellaria stepped in front of the vindicator's blade. "That is not the way to deal with this. The High Priest might not answer to us, but he will answer to his people. Let's take him to the other chiefs, guys." "We can't end it all down in this dark. Let's take it up to the light so everyone can see the scheming." Tesni said to the vindicator. "A swift blade now seems like the best thing, I can see that. But it will not be ended. More shadows will fall and the bad will crawl out to snatch hearts with lies." "Who are you to know what is best for our people, or to dictate our policy? What know you of our laws or our traditions. He has done the unspeakable, the unthinkable, the unforgivable and I will end him. There is enough evidence here to make his memory and wicked deeds plain to see by all." So saying the Vindicator raises her sword again. "Hold fast Dumora, I believe your friends are right." The Party looks up and notices the arrival of the a contingent of Brumpknob guards in addition to the heads of Clans Krumpkin and Frumpkin. "Aye, someone want to explain exactly what's goin' on here? Knew somethin' was up when you didn't return that mine cart." "Ufknav here was in league with the Dark Dwarves planning some sort of invasion of the surface world, with these... machines. He's been siphoning the mythril supply for their construction destroying our entire economy in the process." The high priest keeps his mouth shut as Kulbin looks at the heroes. "Is this true?" CMP Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) Atramor takes the schematics and rolls them up, tucking them into his cloak. "Is this true?" "Aye. He would've expanded his way outta this hole and...I dunno, I guess try to take over the surface. He was stealin' this Mythril right out from under your noses." Edited November 1, 2015 by CallMePie
Jebediahs Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 En Sabah Nur nods in agreement. He tries to remain diplomatic but well...he's not always the best at it because he's Nur... "Chief Kulbin, my comrades and I came here under pretenses that although were noble, were false nonetheless. Us serving as bodyguards for Doctor Ellaria's mission to establish trade with your people was one of many lies told including the one I told the Party about Xor just so I could try to earn extra coin. I should make an effort to apologize to that man. uh, lies told to ensure our primary mission to uncover the truth behind the missing mythril was successful. I will not plead for this dwarf's life as it is your right to punish him and his accomplices how you see fit but I urge you to take a look at the good his actions have brought. He managed to unite the dark dwarf population and focus them towards a solitary goal. Perhaps relations could be repaired there. They have some redeeming qualities...Just look at what they've constructed! Instead of stripping these machines down for parts, put them to use to actually extend trade beyond Uland. You can cover the expansive waters while bypassing those pretentious Bonapartes at the same time. Am I right?" Nur looks around hopeful someone agrees with him. "You're also going to need a new High Chief. I don't know how your election or appointment process works but that's another issue you're going to have to work out."
Sandy Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 "Nur?!" Ellaria gasped in shock. Of course the mage would be looking out for his own interests, as always. "Forgive my colleague. You dwarves are free to do as your customs dictate. We are from Heroica, and having now uncovered the truth behind the mythril shortage, and will inform our employer, one Mr. Fromptious, about the events that took place here. We are sorry for deceiving you with our investigations, our intention was only to seek the truth without interference, but unfortunately the High Priest here got a wind of us and ushered his dark dwarf minions and Scarlet Worms on us. I hope the damages done to your great cities can be easily repaired, and I am sure the High Chief will gladly cover all costs from his own pockets." Ellaria gave the wounded dwarf a meaningful look.
Peppermint_M Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 "All true. Though I mostly come along to hit exotic creatures with magical weapons and maybe accidentally solve a local problem or two. I can't dictate political things or economic decision, but I still think it is wise for the truth to be known."

"He managed to pull together a group of mongrels and force them to build weapons of war, this is not genius but devilry of the worst kind." Kulbin glances at the heroes. "Your role in stopping Ufknav is appreciated, but know that your recommendations are tainted by your deception. Our elections will happen in their won time, in the interim Volaf shall function as the High Chief until Clan Brumpkin has an opportunity to appoint a new leader." "Nur?!" Ellaria gasped in shock. "There will be no need, the Mythril has been recovered thus his damage will be undone, though it will take time. As for him..." Chief Volaf nodded to Dumora, "There is but one end. Ufknav, for your crimes against your own clan and your brother clans, you are hereby banished from the Under-mountain." Dumora stands behind the once high priest and presses a silver seal onto his neck a blinding light momentarily filling the cavern and the sound of branded flesh. "That seal shall forever mark you as a traitor to your kind and should you ever return cause you the most unbearable pain that you will wish you were dead. Guards, take him away." A set of Brumpkin Guards escort Ufknav to the entrance of the tunnel. "Fools, you think this will be the end? Your precious clans will whither. I have seen it, I have been told the horrors that await you down here." "Get rid of him already." "All true. Though I mostly come along to hit exotic creatures with magical weapons and maybe accidentally solve a local problem or two. I can't dictate political things or economic decision, but I still think it is wise for the truth to be known." "An accurate assessment and one I wished was shared with more of your companions." Heroes of Heroica, I know of this Fromptious and his employer and can see why he has sent you. The Bonapartes are ever greedy for their share of the sea as well as the land. I would ask that you do not speak of any of the happenings in this cavern to anyone, t'would throw our own people into a panic knowing that one such as the Ufknav was so easily corrupted and would cause those outside our borders to think of us with even more suspicion than they already do. Will you do this for me? If not then I must ask you to leave the Under-mountain at once." How would the Party answer? Edited November 2, 2015 by Waterbrick Down
CMP Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 "Don't have to ask me twice. Won't breathe a word of this to the Bonapartes." He glanced at his party members. "Aye?"
Jebediahs Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Nur flinches as Ellaria says his name. "Well I have business to conduct in Brumpknob so I will not speak of these events to the Bonapartes. Can't beat dwarven crafsmanship. Did I ever tell you all that me mum was half dwarf?"

"But I will make an exception in this case, having seen how fragile your subterranean community down here is. The High Priest's devious plans have been prevented and the mythril business can once again boom, and that was what we were here to do, so I will not give a detailed report to the Bonapartes either. We were promised some mythril as a compensation by the Bonapartes, though..."

As for some sort of payment, I think granting you the privilege to leave at your own convenience is most generous, whatever deal the Bonapartes made with you is between you and them. I thank you all for your discretion, Dumora will guide you back to Brumpknob from there you are free to make your own way home." "Knew I wouldn't be rid of you lot yet." The vindicator smile slightly. "If you'll be wanting passage by water-way stop by my place back in Krumpknob, I'll be there in a day or so." The Party makes their way out of the complex of tunnels glad to be out of the cramping spaces, the cities of the Dwarves were free to them and while some new the shores of Eubric Freeport called eagerly to them, others had mind to spend a little more time and perhaps a little more gold in the bustling marketplaces of the Under-mountain.

Could ye reforge my Unlucky Horseshoe from a throwing weapon to a crossbow? A gift for a rather large friend of mine who could put it to good use and if not...I could use the practice." Nur's Actions: Sell Henry Award: +200 gold Morph Unlucky Horseshoe to xbow: -150 gold

The dwarf smiles at the sight of the Henry award, testing the gold before taking the horseshoe in hand, "I think I can manage something, good thing it's already somewhat shaped." Additionally, he has the Silver Katana reforged into a greatsword, for a total cost of 650 gold.
