Eslandola, Corrington, and Pirates are really interesting to me, I'm not sure what I'd choose! Will there eventually be larger descriptions about the factions?

I just wondered something. Where do the darkbluecoats (revolution soldier) fit in? I guess they are hard to army build, my brother and I have nine, but yeah... Where to place them? :)

Also... Will Aztecs and Achu be in the "natives" group?

Regarding question one, I personally would count them as Bluecoats, even though their uniforms are darker, they are still blue. There is no separate faction for the "dark bluecoats". And I guess you could count the Aztecs and such in the natives group, however that will be up to the administrators of this, I assume.

I've got a bunch of native Americans that I would like to incorporate into a trading outpost in the interior of the colonies.

Guess I would defend the homeland, Oleon it is! Even though I have a small redcoat burried inside me, I can't hide that fortress and warships are a bit cooler than speed and navigation.

Well, I'd say the dark blue ones might be Oleon, as mentioned before, maybe as part of a special bodyguard unit. Or, regarding the actual pirate sets, the high rank officers wear dark blue as well. Another option could be to treat them as a group of merchants or mercenaries, depending on the usage of gunpowder and saber, I suppose ;-), loosely conected to the Greencoats (green details in ships, buildings and flags should be sufficient for this, plumes and feathers for example). The "natives" in my point of view could be nearly anything, different islands deliver enough possibilities. Aztec (ish, as we are not in the "real" world), Indian, Asian, African, Polynesian... I guess with a fitting background story even cursed crews of undead would be possible.

But before asking to many questions we should let the "think tank" keep going with the development process and just start with our inquiry in anything remains unclear afterwards

After a break of a year or so from LEGO, the new Pirate range has drawn me back in.Im intrigued by all those factions. Ive gone for green as I like the idea of merchants and privateers, but I'm largely undecided!

Dark blue coats will most certainly count as Oleon troops. I personallyy own only 2 light blue troops from the new pirate sets but a proud army of dark blue. This was a driving factor in my choosing Oleon.

Aztecs and Achu will be natives neutrals indeed

If you'd just read through this whole thread, than you might have noticed this to start in a couple weeks if not month, as there is still a lot of planning to do. Nevertheless, the more time you have to be prepared yourself (collecting usefull bricks and minifigs, thinking about your background story, and so on). That`s what I am doing...

There is a lot already figured out, but there's enough to do before launch. Keep in mind almost everyone developing BoBS is also involved in Guilds of Historica, so please be patient. Hopefully there will be an update in the near future. :cry_happy:

I too am getting ready for BoBS with a new ship and small fort planned to be built soon.

Whilst I voted red coats, I am torn. I have found a new love for the blues following this latest release. So......I betrayed the reds and deleted my original vote in favour of the blues

I have made a start to my Fleet. I am going for Oleon.

I also have the Brick Bounty primed as a 'captured' prize. My Impeial flagship is primed, armed with a full compliment of Blue coats and cannons

Glad to that. Will it be in about 10 days, as than i will make my pirate moc and i wanna know if i should wait with posting it so i can post it for my faction in BoBS

Going forward is a good step. I voted for bluecoats as i have some older and new ones alike and i am waiting for some more to come. I could easily go for redcoats too, as for each bluecoat i got, a red torso is sitting on my storage cases. Or shall i become a pirate? :P

Aaah, the endless dilemmas of life.. I will focus on smaller outposts and battles of the oars though, as i am short at the moment in appropriate white pieces and masts for ships pirate_pirate_angry.gif

The Sea Rats/Pirates faction really took off after a slow start, but I suspect the naturally relaxed structure (compared to the others) might have something to do with that. Seeing Eslandola and Corrington closely matched looks like natural randomization... until you look at Oleon's supporters! Talk about imbalance! If it truly plays out that way the first two factions are going to have their hands full. Anyone think it's mostly due to the blues being new, or do you think there's just that much more support for them, period? Either way it looks like a collection of curious matchups. Time will tell...

I guess the appeal for the Blues is on the one hand they were the first (nostalgia, more or less my reason, too) and they are "up-to-date" (increased availablity for specific parts).

Each faction may get a "handycap-factor" depending on the number of (active) members for correction purposes.

And never underestimate the advantage: the less members, the higher in rank your mediocre MOC is and the more points you get (in the limit: if you're the only one of eslandola, your creations are always best ;-)
