Lego tends to do things that we don't like.

We discussed in another thread that Lego communication to its consumers is a bit poor at times, but what else?

How could The Lego Company improve themselves?

Sorry but we try to keep a positive attitude toward our favoryte toy. Making a list of complains is not really our cup of tea here. Sorry, I just try to keep the spirit :/ We just don't want to like another fbtb were people are :

- complaining about new sets

- complaining about sets that doesn't exist

- making polls all over the place

I think lego made some really nice things this year. maybe it will help them more to know what they are doing right instead of what they are doing wrong

Its not suppose to be complaining! Its suppose to be constructive criticism!

You're right, it probably would help them if we let them know what they're doing right - but we don't know if they're actually listening.

I don't want to break your dreams but I really doubt they read us :-D And I think they all know the problems... the main thing is for them to solve those and this can become a real headache.

That's what I meant. I doubt they pay any attention to what we say about them.

I was just agreeing with your statement "maybe it will help them more to know what they are doing right instead of what they are doing wrong". But since they don't pay attention there's no point!

i have no clue what you're saying here, Jipay. if you'd follow this line of reasoning, than you should have to delete A LOT of the posts/topics on this forum...

obviously, you learn from your mistakes, so it would not be great if we were to forget and not mention the things TLC is doing wrong, in our view... in fact, it would be great if TLC read this, and took notes

you're also mistaken to think that TLC is not aware of our presence, after all, Eurobricks is mentioned as a "Project" in TLC's own financial report of 2003; TLC also told the administrators of this website to put the news of the combo set off line, a while ago, remember? so at least some one of TLC is taking a look once in a while

I haven't read all of the 2004 financial report yet? Was there any mention of EuroBricks being mentioned in that? Does Lego still check this forum?

Apart from LugNet I don't know of any large Lego Message Boards (aside from the Bionicle ones). Lego.com message boards are pitiful and GeekBrick is only just starting off. Are there any other Lego message boards? Would anyone from Lego check those?

I like to have a rant about what Lego should be doing with Pirate Lego. Obviously I'm just one person which may not account to much, but I'd have satisfaction in knowing my thoughts were being reached by those within Lego.

The eurobricks mentioned in the 2003 report is another thing, it's not us. And for the news, it just proves they read the frontpage. We don't know about the forum. Anyway in fact we dunno anything :-D

And I know people are also complaining and giving hints on other threads, but that's my point : if they really read the forum, then they already know...

Feedback, especially constructive criticism is a most useful tool for continuous improvment. We may only be a small community, however we are consumers of their product and could possibly represent a larger body with similiar interests. Therefore Lego should take our opinions and criticisms into account - well that's my opinion anyway!

TLC uses some of the forums/websites as a marketing instrument. a forum is after all an extremely efficient way to spread certain (commercial) information. the entire story of the Death Star was a brilliant piece of marketing...

there's also a difference between reading posts and listening to what we have to say... unfortunately, it all comes down to us not being numerous enough... we, afols, don't represent enough people...

and Jipay... i read your reply... and I don't believe you :P :P :P Let's leave it at that...

We need more pepople! Enough for LEGO to take notice! Time to execute a major recruiting operation!

I'm sorry but the LEGO company is just dead, it's as dead as 5,000-year old mummy. They keep on trying to "go back to its roots", yet they somehow manage to screw it up. For example, they said they would cut down on the partnerships, yet they just released new Thomas the Tank Engine sets, plus new Ferrari sets and other stuff. They said they will introduce new sets with lots of pieces, the Designer Sets, yet they manage to screw that up with new colours, in fact, they screwed the whole line with the change in colour. Plus, there are many other problems. A hardcore LEGO fan would be very lucky if he would have died in 1997, because that's when the LEGO company died.

As for constructive criticism? The best I could say is that I maybe the original creator of the LEGO brick could be ressurected to solve everything and kick his grandson's megablocks for destroying the LEGO company.

My final point? It's too late for the company to try to improve itself.

What if Lego all of a sudden decided they were going back to making sets like they did in the late 80's and early 90's?

Ok, I'll dream on...

Yeah, exactly, we can all dream...

And how long is it going to take the licences to be out of the game?

According to the 2003 Financial Report the Star Wars Licence doesn't expire until 2007. Though it didn't specify if that was early or late.

What about the other licences?
