September 2, 20159 yr Well a while back when lego dimensions was announced i emailed lego asking about wizard of oz sets and the lady replied " You never know you may be building your very own Emerald City soon anything is possible" No. Freaking. Way! Just2good's twin sister works at Lego? And oh so excited!
September 2, 20159 yr I'd like to see evidence??? Maybe a picture (on your phone, not desktop) would be cool.
September 2, 20159 yr OOps well the email quote was Thanks for getting in touch with us. LEGO® DIMENSIONS™ is quite a new and interesting adventure for us and the Wizard of Oz is a really cool addition. We haven't heard of any new Wizard of Oz sets as of yet, but our designers are always working on some very cool things behind their shrouded curtain. It would be very cool to have some adventures with a LEGO Tinman, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion, and Toto. We are hoping that a Wizard of Oz set might come out in the future. We just don't know of any at this point. LEGO DIMENSIONS certainly will be a great new program for us and we are hoping that not only does it create a new way to play for our LEGO fans, but also might lead to some new and cool sets. Although we have not released a lot of information yet there is more to come in the future. Keep your eyes peeled and look forward to hearing more from our media sites. We hope forever comes sooner than later and you get to build an Emerald City. We want to make sure we're doing a good job for you, so you’ll always find the link to a four-question survey in our emails. Please tell us how we did today: so i was a l was off a bit with the info sorry but it still sounds like they have something up their sleeves

September 3, 20159 yr It looks like a stock answer that people will get when emailing TLG about Oz sets. But...it's a pretty awesome stock answer. They've put some thought into it and at least appear optimistic about releasing sets someday.
September 3, 20159 yr Not a suprise to know that Oz sets are wanted. However, almost all of Dimensions' new/exclusive licenses were initially suggested by the rejected Ideas projects. It's not as simple as Midway's case (it'd be nice to see some sets based on the classic games, IMO). Dimensions doesn't seem to be the incentive, it's rather a source of problems how LEGO deal with fans' expectation.
September 5, 20159 yr Oz sets would be great. I love this, though. The witch is a great looking minifigure as is. It's a bit pricey, especially for people who aren't going to play the game at all, but still great.

September 5, 20159 yr I'll wait until she hits Bricklink. I might do the same, actually. I expect it'll still be a relatively pricey figure.
September 5, 20159 yr When I first saw the Wizard of Oz Expansion Pack, i literally said out loud: "I'll get you my pretty!". Now, at $15, I think I'll also take to BrickLink or the secondary market. Unless we get a Wizard of Oz set next year.
September 18, 20159 yr I'm guessing they'll do a pack for Dorothy and the other main characters from the movie. The press release did mention more being revealed as the release approaches and I can't see them not giving us the main characters. I'm not particularly a fan of the movie but the minifigures in the trailer look awesome so I might have to get a hold of them. Plus it looks like a lot of new and interesting minifigure parts. I'm kind of hoping Dorothy includes a mini build of her house, perhaps as a weapon in game (I just think that would be oddly funny). I would get Toto if he was released separately to Dorothy (doubt it, though) but personally I wouldn't be bothered about getting any other Wizard of Oz characters. More of a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang person.
September 18, 20159 yr Not only that but the latest Dimensions set codes that leaked don't look promising for anything Oz-related. Oz Lego took a huge hit today.
September 19, 20159 yr There may still be a chance for sets in the future. I'd wait until Dimensions launches and they get some solid sales figures on the Oz merchandise. Maybe if the sales are high, we could be seeing Oz come to life in brick form down the (yellow brick) road.
September 19, 20159 yr To me it makes no sense to secure the Oz license just to use it in Dimensions.
September 19, 20159 yr To me it makes no sense to secure the Oz license just to use it in Dimensions. And not only that, they've only used it to make one villain fig that didn't require any new molds. Seriously, you have to have at least a Dorothy. And it just isn't complete without Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion.
September 19, 20159 yr It is odd they acquired a license to only produce one physical minifigure, not even the most desirable one... It's even more surprising when you factor in how much promotion the Oz portion of this game is getting. Perhaps they'll do something down the line.
September 19, 20159 yr I'd be shocked if there isn't at least two more Wizard of Oz Dimensions set. There's absolutely no way they'd deliberately include a license like Wizard of Oz and not have three Dimensions sets. I can understand Portal only having one set because I'm not familiar with Portal but isn't Chell pretty much the only human character? But with Wizard of Oz, there's certainly scope for three sets and other franchises such as The Simpsons and DC Comics have at least three. I bet LEGO will announce Dorothy and Glinda The Good fun packs.
October 13, 20159 yr I hope so! I need minifigures of Dorothy Gale, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, a Flying Monkey, Fiyero, Glinda, .... Don't forget Boq, Nessa, Dr Dillamond, Madam Morrible. But I guess this is really based on the movie and not Wicked....
October 13, 20159 yr Don't forget Boq, Nessa, Dr Dillamond, Madam Morrible. But I guess this is really based on the movie and not Wicked.... I never get why Wizard of Oz is more popular than Wicked. The Wizard of Oz is good but Wicked is so much better IMO.
October 13, 20159 yr Possibly, but Wicked is dependent upon The (Wonderful) Wizard of Oz for its existence, not the other way around. The original book and its 1939 movie adaptation are long-established classics; Wicked is a relative newcomer by comparison. And it's sort of a meta textual comment upon the original work, and is thus most fully appreciated when one's familiar with its inspiration, but the reverse isn't true. Moreover, as regards this material's inclusion in LEGO, of course it's going to be based on The Wizard of Oz, since the game is published by Warner Bros., which also currently holds the rights to the movie. They don't own Wicked, but they do own The Wizard of Oz. Finally, The Wizard of Oz is a lot more kid-friendly / family-friendly than Wicked, so even putting aside all issues of corporate ownership, LEGO is much more naturally going to want to connect itself to The Wizard of Oz than Wicked.

Wicked is getting a kid-friendly film based on the kid-friendly West End musical, though. It has been in the works for a while, I believe.
October 14, 20159 yr I never get why Wizard of Oz is more popular than Wicked. The Wizard of Oz is good but Wicked is so much better IMO. IMHO Wicked the Musical is much better than The Wizard of Oz the Movie. Wicked the Book, however, is not better than the classic Wizard of Oz Book. I've read through the entire quadrilogy and while Gregory Maguire is brilliant at rewriting these characters, the books were a little impenetrable and the musical rescued them from oblivion, because a lot of people wouldn't have bothered to try and read them otherwise.
