Posted April 11, 20159 yr I have been seeing this type of problem fairly often now that I've been building more technic sets. When using angles, parts don't line up the way they should. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a LDraw problem or Bricksmith? I haven't had a chance to test this with windows software. See pictures from 42021 (Snowmobile) below. and the official instructions any thoughts? File Download (this is a partial of the model)
April 11, 20159 yr I can confirm that: There is no way to make it match perfectly by using Sr3D or MLcad. But there is no need to worry about it: It is just the same offset as in real life. Right now I made a quick check. It's clear: In real life it is no problem to pull it a tiny bit to make it match.

Real bother is that it will affect the rest of the build as the offset will get larger and larger. But I'll figure it out.
April 12, 20159 yr It wont fit when you have two pins/axles in the left hook beam, but this model uses one pin which allows for additional movement. In such a case it will be possible to get it exactly right You could use my LDCad's selection info feature for it.

Thanks, but if you look at the instructions, you'll see the section with the "headlights" needs to be aligned as well which is impossible if I would angle it as you describe. It's probably a combination of flexing parts and your solution. Unfortunately I am not able to use your software because I am using a Mac, I know I can double boot, but the hassle of getting a legitimate copy of windows isn't worth it.
April 12, 20159 yr It isn't aligned in reallife too, the second hook beam attached to the headlights will be lower then the black beams along side it. If you zoom the picture on brickset (http://brickset.com/sets/42021-1/Snowmobile) you'll should be able to see it.

April 13, 20159 yr Lego parts are little bit flexible and elastic, because it is made of A.B.S. However, CAD part don't consider it yet. I have met this mismatching problem in many models, especially in old technics. Cheers. Edited April 13, 20159 yr by widetent
