michaelozzie Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 As part of my train layout I've been working on lately I have begun to build a few houses. This one is inspired by typical architecture as seen in Brugge(Bruges) where I lived for a few years before moving to a smaller town. I am yet to add the interior though, as its a toss up between a chocolate shop or café. My wife used to run a chocolate shop in Brugge, so she would like to see that option come to fruition. What do you guys think? by michaelozzie1, on Flickr by michaelozzie1, on Flickr Quote
Kristel Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Nice! Love the SNOT window frames. I'd say chocolate shop, although my first thought when I saw it was a pub. Quote
Bennemans Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) VERY nice window frames! I'm definitely stealing that! ^_^ I'm experimenting with window frames at the moment, and this is some great inspiration, thanks! I was thinking pub as well, probably because of the green facade? Chocolate shop would be very nice too, but I'd say change the color of the shopfront to reflect the chocolaty richness, maybe a shade of brown? btw, is this modular? Open back? Hinged? I had considered brown but it blends too much with the dark red. A pub or café was what I had thought of originally. It opens modular style too. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I too thought it was a pub......an Irish Pub. Nice work and Brick On 'michaelozzie' ! Quote
Gespy Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Does the blue plate going to have a sticker with the name of the shop? Then it would be clear this is a chocoate shop. I have been in Brugge and reconize the building style. Well done. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Very much Brugge! Very good indeed. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Chocolate shop! It's a nice building and it deserves lots of customers. I like the window decorations, they're very realistic. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 We have been to Brugge and this brings back good memories. Belgian chocolate has no equal. This certainly is true to the local architecture. Quote
michaelozzie Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Update time. I changed the green front to dark red which looks a bit nicer now. I've added a neighbour too. Now to do the interiors and stock up on the chocolate. by michaelozzie1, on Flickr Quote
Kristel Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Nice! And feels much more like a chocolate shop now than a pub. I like it's neighbour too. Great use of SNOT again on the windows. Quote
El Garfio Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I preffer the green floor ground but both buildings are great. I'm working on apply your techniques in my buildings. Quote
Grendelego Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Wonderfull houses, I went to Brugge a lot of time (and going there again soon ;) ) you really catch the athmosphere of the city in those 2 houses. I love the entrance of the left one too ;) Quote
vespagt66 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I really like your rendering of that tiny shop in the town centre of Brugge. It makes me want to build such a 'flemish' building or similar like ones found in the Netherlands. Quote
