Domer_Simpsoy Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Did anyone else have a problem with the piano against the wall of The Simpsons House? It just kept coming off way too easily and I was getting really frustrated with it sticking out and not fully going on so I had to put the two tiles that hold them one place over away from the wall for it to sit properly without falling out, I think I might put Snowball II behind it since cats love to hide underneath or behind things lol but just curious to know if anyone else was encountering this problem with the previous set. I don't think it was ever intended to go fully against the wall, mine has always been one stud away. Quote
Marc77 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The piano is built using 4x 407026 (the black 1x1's in step 9). These have an edge which stands in the way when placing the piano against the wall (under the arch). Instead find 1x1's without this edge - in light grey that would be 4558953. I found some red and black ones in my miscellaneous - the colour doesn't really matter as they are covered by the purple exterior parts. Now it fits perfectly. Marc Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 In a delightful touch, the freezer has been set up so you can actually fit a minifig (jasper) in there (in place of the sticker). Made me chuckle... Quote
Legoman123 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Fantastic review! But could someone please tell me what's behind the 'Keep Out' door? Quote
Domer_Simpsoy Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Fantastic review! But could someone please tell me what's behind the 'Keep Out' door? It's just a small 3x9 hallway/storeroom which has a ladder to the roof/shelves (I don't know which they're supposed to be), a rat and a wedge of cheese. It leads to the back door which is accessed from the outside. Also just finished the number 5 bags and ran into 2 problems, I ended up with a missing yellow 1x1 brick but an extra yellow 2x1 brick and a missing 3x1 light blue brick and an extra light blue 2x1 brick. I went back through the instructions and disassembled possible locations but found no mistakes. I have improvised and everything will be fine but this still has me scratching my head. Zusammengebaut Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I needed seven hours, to build this great new LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Markt set with so many details inside. I do enjoy every minute of it. The supermarket in the Green Grocer (Modular Building, Creator Expert) is really fine. But this one is awesome. If you like: This is my review (in german), but with a special view on this set. Have a nice sunday. Many greetings Andres Quote
Kaleb705 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Great review! I'm anxious to pick this up! :) Quote
ritzcrackerman Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Has anyone displayed this next to a modular? How well does it fit into a town environment? Quote
ARSLOCK Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 anyone else flip around these parts during the build so the concave bits are on the inside of the store? i did and I think it looks MUCH better, should have been that way officially IMO. you don't notice the concave parts in the interior, most are blocked completely or have something more interesting in the way... concave on the outside just looks off to me... Dunedain Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I got a question for anybody who owns this already, and put it together. Do you think the Kwik E Mart would be a good set to get 2 of, and MOD into a bigger store, with more counters, shelves, freezers, and stuff ? I ask this with money being NO issue. In other words, I don't care if its "worth" it or not, I am asking specifically if this set would benefit from combining 2 into 1 giant awesome Kwik E Mart, with money being no issue. Thanks in advance, to whoever has this set,and can please just let me know. Quote

The size it's at right now is actually really in scaled with the show version. Quote
mediumsnowman Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I wonder if anyone has considered "Un-Simpsonizing" this set and turning it into a regular (albiet large) CITY convience store. Hmmm... Quote
Zusammengebaut Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Has anyone displayed this next to a modular? How well does it fit into a town environment? Not excactly - in a row with the modular buildings. But if you have a bigger town, you can place the Kwik-E-Mart as kind of a stand alone building - like in real life, too. The size of this set is fine - and of course somehow similar to the modulars (the base area is only a bit larger). I wonder if anyone has considered "Un-Simpsonizing" this set and turning it into a regular (albiet large) CITY convience store. Hmmm... Just put the Simpsons minifigures somewhere else - and replace them. In Germany, we have "yellow" marts - it is called Edeka. So I really think, the colours and the size of this building are fine for a market. Not only in Springfield. Quote
Dunedain Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 The more I look at pics and reviews of this set the more I love it, and the more I am convinced I am going to get 2 of them. After checking out some more detailed pics, I think combining and modding 2 together into one large Kwick e mart will work. Its seems the way to go would not be to make it bigger left to right, but instead combine them front to back, so that the store will be almost double in size depth wise. It can be one really deep store, with a longer row of freezer space, extra shelves, longer counters, and so on. I am looking forward to getting 2 sets and doing this MOD. With the amount of unique parts, printed pieces, and specialty items, you just cant go wrong with an extra set. Quote

That is sort of my plan. I want to make an urban Kwik-E-Mart as the bottom floor of a modified modular-style multi-story building. Possibly offices or apartments on top. Quote
alohamitsu Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Looking forward to seeing your build Dunedain! I have not been able to build mine just yet, may tell my friends I am busy all day Sunday so I could spend time on it lol Quote
Robert8 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) Hey what happened to the review??? EDIT: Nevermind. I found out. Edited June 18, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
Dunedain Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 So, back in April, when I mentioned about combining and modding 2 Kwik e mart sets, I was just "thinking" out loud about what I wanted to do. Well, this past week, I went and bought 2 sets from the Lego store. I have NOT opened either one yet. My goal is to combine them into one big Kwik e mart. I have no problem doing it, its just I am not sure which way I am gonna do it. I did the same with 2 Detectives offices, that I bought. I knew where I was going with it right away, on that one, but the Kwik e marts seem a little tougher. Has anyone combined 2 Marts together? Did you do it, left to right, or front to back? Are there any pics? Any advice, or help, would be AWESOME, thanks guys. Quote
