That means they're giving out a total of 20 UCS TIEs. That's pretty generous, actually.

I may be wrong, not being in your part of the world, but I don't think you'd need to spend that much to get all the posters. A single Star Wars purchase each month should do it, even if it's just a keychain or something.

Yeah it's a pretty cool competition even if you aren't interested in the prize. And no, we wouldn't have to spend $200, if we wanted we could just spend $50ish for a keychain. No thanks. Want to avoid the hefty postage? Gotta spend $200. No folded up poster is worth paying that kind of postage for.

I think TLG probably assume that Aussies are so used to paying inflated prices anyway that they'll buy even without a discount being offered. You can't even order non-SW stuff this year and still get the bonus SW stuff as was possible in previous years.

Sadly there's nothing from SW I want this year that I don't already have, so will have to get my polybag in the aftermarket.

Yep, we'll take the whipping, complain about it but then turn up 'voluntarily' for another one next time anyway, haha. Yeah I bought the shadow ARF on Bricklink & skipped Han Solo, but the other years I've found something I'm interested in.

Looks like we'll see the first glimpses of Star Wars Episode VII Lego on September 4th (not counting leaks). I was hoping to see a hint of it today on May 4th but it's happening on Force Friday according to StarWars.com.

Just got a 10188 Death Star in the Danbury, CT Lego store this Saturday for the May the Fourth Promo. No mention of low stock, retirement, etc. In fact, they had even more in the stockroom plus the display model.

Although there seem to be some "signs" pointing toward a sooner than later retirement, I'd still say we are still a ways off.

The DS isn't available on the UK products page either and its no longer available on the Shop site either.

That is odd. I wonder if will come back up. I was told the set wasnt being retired for a while.

LEGO are not generous when it comes to Au/NZ. Unfortunately a single SW purchase even "just a keychain" that costs AUD6.99 will require AUD25 of postage. So that simple purchase from the generous LEGO will acutally cost you over AUD30 each time. LEGO bleeds us dry on pricing and screws us over on postage. Compare the UCS Tie. US LEGO site charges USD199 our cost is AUD299. Even with our currency in the toilet from an exchange point of view USD199 equates to ~AUD250. What is the US free postage limit? LEGO site suggests USD75. Bargain. What is the Au free postage limit? AUD200!

LEGO aren't generous to us. Throwing around a few UCS Tie Fighters for a competition isn't generous. Whilst LEGO looks after Europe and North America the rest of world gets the middle finger from LEGO.

The US price doesn't show the sales tax for any particular state though... Which then puts it around the $299 Aus range... They're actually quite close in price.

With the current exchange rate the UK price works out at $345 Aus for a UCS Tie. Still think you're being hard done by?

The shipping threshold on the other hand does seem extortionate. I seem to remember mention of bricks and mortar Lego stores opening somewhere... Maybe once that happens access to promotions won't seem such an ominous and expensive task.

If we get a Bricks and Mortar shop it will likely be only in Sydney or Melbourne which won't be of much use to those of us that live anywhere else - I drove from one side of Australia to the other once and it took me over five days! Not exactly convenient if one wants to drop in to the Lego Shop for a browse!

Yep. However I don't expect you to truly understand it given the way LEGO is "available" in Europe in comparison to Au/NZ. Having gone through there recently and experienced the LEGO retail experience it drives home the fact that LEGO treats us as a poor Cousin. Ultimately it works for them because we don't have many alternatives.

Bought the TIE on Saturday and just received an email saying it is out of stock and they’ll ship it later, checked the website and it says it will be shipped from the 19th onwards.

Since I ordered it now I should still get the poster and Yularen, right?

I would assume so... they normally honour those kinds of things.

I didn't say they were generous with Australian prices or shipping; I know perfectly well they're much the opposite. I was saying they were generous with this one specific contest. I recall them giving away large, expensive sets before, but not usually twenty copies at a time. This contest is one of the more generous ones they've run - that's all I was saying.

I didnt read all the post. But where is it avalible and for how long time??

If you're referring to the promotion, it started on May 2nd and goes on till the 9th UK, (so this Saturday) It is available in all Lego Stores.

I wonder if it has anything to do with a possible lack of distribution centers in Australia. The USA, for instance, is covered in them, so it's going to lower shipping costs.

Australia is well-known for being an expensive place to do business. If TLG is weighing the benefits of having a base of operations there vs. the high taxation and overall low population of Australia (23 million over a huge area), then I could see why shipping is not cheap.

Conversely, the order I placed for the Ewok Village at around 00:10 on May 2nd is still listed as "In warehouse", the same status it's had since the first working day (Monday) of the order. I've no idea why they haven't shipped it yet.

Same here. I ordered a few minutes earlier and my order (Sandcrawler) hasn't been shipped yet. :(

Clearly the D2C sets are on the top shelf, and Big Dave in the warehouse that can reach them is off on holiday until next week.
