Posted April 15, 20159 yr There are few 'what if' threads recently and my intention is not to reverse the clock. It is more hopefully to voice a 'need' and possibly have TLG grant our wishes. Yes, everyone wants to see the 19L black flex axle come back. But, that aside, what other parts you think are long overdue? Here's one to start: The spindle of 8466/8070/Ferraris
April 15, 20159 yr Other common popular parts that we want back -red soft axles(except 19L 11L and 12L) -#3 red connectors -power puller wheels -wheel covers such as on 8145 -pneumatic brackets(Although the demand might go down with the longer cylinders) etc. Personally I want 3713 bushes in black again, red toggle joints, and the steering parts from 8081 which are starting to become uncommon
April 15, 20159 yr Author Here's another one ... I like the 'function' but have not used them in anything specific (besides slowing down doors as in 8466)
April 15, 20159 yr Author Easy for me. 'pictures removed' This has 8880/8448 written all over it. Agreed, it's such a pity that those parts were of very limited distribution, mostly exclusive to those two sets only. Edited April 15, 20159 yr by DrJB
April 15, 20159 yr The metal hook from 8285/8258.....also the gearing/steering stuff from 8070 and those Racers models. In fact...i'd just like all those amazing Lego Racers car models to be released!

April 15, 20159 yr Author Guys. please try to post pictures whenever you can (Should be easy, go to bricklink, find item, and right click copy/paste). Grazie! Edited April 15, 20159 yr by DrJB
April 15, 20159 yr Not really parts but it still Technic. I would like to see Technic Figures make a come back.
April 15, 20159 yr I completely agree about the 9v transformer and the Technic figures. The new PF controllers are ok for certain situations, but the old transformers are a lot more useful.
April 15, 20159 yr +1 for flex system. Non colour vomited axles, connector pegs and gears. Easy for me. I can see the appeal but I think they could design better alternatives to these, like a 8880 style cv joint without the 8880 friction and larger, deeper, 8448 like wheels but with a firmer mounting and better look.
April 15, 20159 yr I think there is a big difference between part types that are out of production as opposed to rare colors of parts that are in production. For parts out of production, if they were replaced by something or there was a problem with the original part, you won't see them come back. Yes, everyone wants to see the 19L black flex axle come back. But, that aside, what other parts you think are long overdue? Here's one to start: The spindle of 8466/8070/Ferraris Since this part has been replaced by the new hubs from 42000, I don't think we'll ever see them again. Other common popular parts that we want back -red soft axles(except 19L 11L and 12L) -#3 red connectors -power puller wheels -wheel covers such as on 8145 -pneumatic brackets(Although the demand might go down with the longer cylinders) etc. Personally I want 3713 bushes in black again, red toggle joints, and the steering parts from 8081 which are starting to become uncommon Many of these are just color wishes which will hopefully be seen again. I would guess the PP wheels and tires are too expensive and have limited application so they won't be back. The pneumatic brackets are probably no longer needed because longer actuators will be available. Here's another one ... I like the 'function' but have not used them in anything specific (besides slowing down doors as in 8466) Those parts had a lot of breakage problems so they probably won't come back. I really liked them, but their application is limited and probably not worth the production cost. The flex system. Again, these parts had a lot of breakage problems so they won't be back. They were rarely utilized to their full potential in sets. Maybe a new flex system which solves the durability problems?
April 15, 20159 yr black 2L axles ... there is actually 10 of them in this year Detective's Office, and a few in some of past years sets (2015, 2014, 2013) .... Edited April 15, 20159 yr by AndroTech
April 15, 20159 yr Fiber optics If you believe this article then those are the last parts we'll ever see again.
April 15, 20159 yr Seems odd that they would cost so much to produce. It was a single revolving red light in a fancy lego brick. Was it that the set itself wasn't very good so they didn't make enough of them for the effects of mass production to bring the cost down? But then they was also in the space shuttle, which was a great set for it's day. Edited April 15, 20159 yr by allanp
There was a big argument about this in another thread, in which I participated. It comes to this. In my opinion, this statement is not accurate: ....The most shocking finding was about sets that included the LEGO micro-motor and fiber-optic kits — in both cases it cost LEGO more to source these parts then the whole set was being sold for.... My guess is that Mark was intentionally simplifying the matter for a simple magazine reading audience. The words "source" and "sold for" are a problem. "Source" is just the per item cost to buy something and "sold for" indicates the total retail price. There is just no way that it cost $100+ to buy (source) a light bulb in a plastic box. I would speculate that a properly specific sentence should have said: ..in both cases the Total Cost of Acquisition of these parts, when amortizing all development costs over such a small number of units, exceeded the procurement cost of the remaining parts in those sets... When interpreted this way, you might be comparing $250,000 in development costs over 4 sets, each with 1 unit, each of which sold 10,000 copies. This would come to ~$6 per unit in development alone and given that only a small portion of the final cost of a retail set is part cost, could exceed the cost of all the other parts in the set. This also fits better with the fact that apparently "no one actually knew". Certainly the per item cost of the element was known. The statement only makes sense if you consider that no one had bothered to amortize the development cost to figure out the total cost.
April 15, 20159 yr Those are some interesting points you made, Blakbird. I think Lego did learn from these mistakes, though. Back on topic, I'd like to see these parts return: Znap flex axle. Although, I heard that they can actually be unwound by being twisted the wrong way, so maybe an improved version. Weight brick Micro motor Air Tank 5571 Black Cat wheels and tires. 3 spoke wheels. Metal hook. Hailfire wheels These click joints Cylinder brackets. Yes, I know, we will be getting longer cylinders, but still, there is no other good method of joining pneumatic cylinders back to back. It's not parts, but I've got some other things that would fall under stuff that Lego should bring back. Colors: Dark pearl gray Teal. Teal. TEAL!!!! Other: Parts packs, with a variety of beams in a variety of colors, or panels, or a variety of parts like pneumatic parts Universal sets.
April 16, 20159 yr Micro motor Yes I would also like to see the return of the micro motor. But I think we should get the gear blocks and chain set back. Edited April 16, 20159 yr by Blakbird : Please, please trim your quotes!
April 17, 20159 yr Yes I would also like to see the return of the micro motor. But I think we should get the gear blocks and chain set back. While I'm certain the little red beast won't make a return, I'm equally certain there will be something to take its place, in the form of an S or XS PF motor.
