Posted April 15, 20159 yr Hello, Some weeks ago I built some train elements to be used as "atrezzo" in my pictures, they were intended to be decoration elements, but friends suggested me to build the complete engine and wagons, so I did it and this is the final result. The pictures are a bit blurry due the lack of light, sorry.
April 15, 20159 yr You got to be kidding "decoratation". It more looks like the main attraction. Wonderful locomotive and the wagons as well. I really like the boxcar.
April 16, 20159 yr Oh wow! The whole train looks fine ...I really like the first cargo wagon: too beautiful!
April 18, 20159 yr This is a lovely diorama, but aren't the wheels/chassis on these German steamers supposed to be red? I looked on Google images and the only two color schemes I could see for the BR 86 was black/red and full grey.
April 19, 20159 yr Author Many thanks! This is a lovely diorama, but aren't the wheels/chassis on these German steamers supposed to be red? I looked on Google images and the only two color schemes I could see for the BR 86 was black/red and full grey. I'm not a train expert and I can't say why but many German steam engines have their wheels and other red elements painted black during World War II. As I want to represent military trains I chose black.
April 20, 20159 yr Oh wow, that is a great train and I have to agree with Man with a hat, if this is just a quick background piece I can't imagine what your builds must look like when you put effort in to them. Well done!
April 22, 20159 yr Author Thanks! Well, I don't put many details in my MOCs. I love hiperrealistic MOCs but they need tons of small parts and are more expensive. I preserve most of my builds as a part of my collection, so each time I build something new I have to purchase most of the needed pieces.
April 27, 20159 yr Hi there Legotron, I agree totally with the others. It's a lovely piece of train and terain work that you've built. A real Panzerzug, wow! I wished that I could see it with my own eyes. It completely fits into my kind of theme as a former Panzer-man. Please come with more detailed photos. Did you build in a PF engine in the loc? Did you scratch-build the loc and wagons or did you use a buildingplan? All the Panzerbricks stuff is also awesome to see! Keep up with the good works and show it all.
April 27, 20159 yr Author Many thanks! I didn't put any Pf in the engine neither the wagons, because that is my first train and I don't have any PF. The pistons and rods work very well even in the curves, I push the train with my hands and they did the complete cycle without any problem. I searched some info about the problem of these trains with the curves and I saw some Youtube videos in which were shown some solutions. I used a picture of a BR86 for reference, and that's all. I needed many rounds of building to get the correct aspect of the engine, and then I worked the functional features. The first wagon was inspired by some pictures I saw in brickshelf, and was the first element of the train I built. The rest of the wagons were built after pictures of real ones for reference. I didn't know the real measures so I built them at my own. I want to take better pics, but after the event I will need some weeks to order and repair everything and make enough room to take better pictures.
May 10, 20159 yr Author I've taken better pictures of the elements of the train. (The wagon carrying the panzer needs some updates and wasn't ready for the pictures). Bigger pictures here:
May 14, 20159 yr Utterly brilliant ballast (and I had not noticed the "rail holders" with the jumper plates)
June 26, 20159 yr That's a great train you've built. The locomotive looks great, I like the steam, and you've got an excellent 8-40 boxcar. Brick on!
