Jeroen Ottens Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Hi, I've nearly finished my newest MOC and I just can't resist the temptation to tease you all a bit with it , sorry . It has no PF and to the probable delight of some of you it does feature pneumatics instead. It shouldn't be too hard to guess what it is, or derive the scale from this picture. A harder challenge might be to estimate the amount of pneumatics used in this model... Leg godt, Jeroen Quote
Saberwing40k Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Now I've got the Star Wars theme stuck in my head. Let me guess, it has at least pneumatic wings, landing gear, and cockpit? Quote
Boxerlego Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Is it mickey mouse with pneumatic facial expressions. Quote
DrJB Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Can't be a pneumatic Easter Egg? Or is that too late? Quote
legolijntje Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Is it mickey mouse with pneumatic facial expressions. Quote
darsedz Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 solid design, lot of pneumatic cylinders.... it must be pneumatic nutcracker ;) Quote
imvanya Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Now I've got the Star Wars theme stuck in my head. Let me guess, it has at least pneumatic wings, landing gear, and cockpit? The shapes in the picture did look familiar, but I couldn't put my figure on it. But after reading your comment I started hearing SW theme myself and finally figured out what this hexagonal shape is Anyway, looking forward to the actual reveal, Jeroen! D3K Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Looking very much forward to seeing more of this! When do you reckon you will post an update/more pics? Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Looking very much forward to seeing more of this! When do you reckon you will post an update/more pics? Well, the release obviously is scheduled for the 18th of December this year Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 But in the true spirit of the StarWars franchise I first have to provide a lot more trailers, leaks and debatable content... So here is the next picture, with the question that has kept our minds busy for the past week. Studded or studless that's the question... Quote
allanp Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 They're both good. Hmmmmm. Maybe a more refined studded using some cheese slops and tiles to smooth the shape. Quote
legolijntje Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I like the studs-version more. It looks more like R2-D2, because it has more detail. The other one is just plain white. Quote
lego2lego Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I like the studs-version more. It looks more like R2-D2, because it has more detail. The other one is just plain white. Agreed, but it also depends on the look of the whole thing... so we'll wait! Quote
Rishab N Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Oh I'm very hyped for this. Looking forward to more pics Quote
Boxerlego Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 So its an X-wing after all. Studs give R2D2 some character while the studless make R2D2 look like a radar dome. Quote
Kumbbl Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Studded or studless that's the question... Maybe a unique opinion but i like - by far - the no stud version of R2D2 more. With the studded version it is quite unrecognizable. IMHO the scale is too small to shape a really cute R2D2 with studded plates... But of course just MHO... Quote
Hoth-Wampa Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Maybe the studless with a sticker on it, so it looks like R2 Quote
Doc_Brown Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Awesome! I'm looking forward to more pics! I prefer the studded R2. Quote
bj51 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Can't wait to see this, seeing that I love both that ship and Pneumatic! Quote

IMHO the scale is too small to shape a really cute R2D2 with studded plates... But of course just MHO... You are indeed in the minority with your opinion . The trouble I have is that the 4L hemisphere is too small I think for the scale, a 5L dome would have been better... So the studded version is better to scale, but it clashes with the studless build below it IMHO.... I have been thinking about making a technic version with these: , but I haven't found a neat way to keep that within 5 studs ... So still some creativity needed... Here is the final teaser picture: Quote
allanp Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 You could cover the studs with 1x1 tiles and those little 1x1 slope pieces to make it more rounded and it hides the studs so it'll look a bit more like the surrounding studless. Quote
