Poomerio Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 (edited) Hi guys. I've spent all day building and rebuilding my firehouse. I've come up with something I'm happy with, and I think it looks pretty good :-) Sorry about the pictures; they were taken in a bit of a rush >.< (Clickie for album, when moderated.) Hope you like it too ^^ - Poomie Edited August 12, 2007 by Poomerio Quote
zeki Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I kinda don't like it... it's small, no details, only 1 garage (ok if it would have only 1 car)... Try to make it more reallife... Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I like it! It isn't anything I would picture in a big city, more like a small station for a volunteer fire brigade! *y* But I must agree with Zeki, it does lack details. *n* Fire on! Quote
Poomerio Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 Yeah, I know about the lack of details. I'm going to be tweaking it some more soon. And yes, it is only supposed to be a small station for a handful of firefighters ^^ My first MOC, mind. - Poomie Quote
Poomerio Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Well I was inspired by the #7945 firestation, so I MODed it, and it looks so much better. I hope to post pics soon. - Poomie Quote
zeki Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 And all of the fireengines HAVE TO BE in garages! There are several reasons: The cars must not be exposed to temperatures below 3 Quote
MatthewUSA Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I definitly give you two *y* up for the effort. What does the inside look like? I also agree that a second garage bay is needed. Plus, maybe add a second storey for sleeping quarters, kitchen & sitting area. Many small town stations have a second storey for such uses. I think your MOC is a great start Poomerio. Model On!! Poomerio Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 Well, many a constructive criticism. Well I rebuilt #7945 and then MODed that. I am rather happy with the result; I'll get pictures ASAP. - Poomie Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Its nice but I also think a second story would add some character to the building. You could make a 2nd storey just covering the black baseplate roof and leaving the garage section as is. One suggestion, if you could replicate the fancy cornerstone on the other side of the front door I think the symmetry would make the overall construction look a lot better! Quote
Hinckley Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Great job Poomie. I especially think you have a great attitude with the constructive criticism you're getting. Everyone has to start somewhere, right? And putting up even your earliest creations in a discussion forum is a great way to grow as a builder. That being said, I do like the effects that you went for. 7945 does do the trucks the disservice of not being fully enclosed. How can they stay above 3 Quote
Poomerio Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Thanks Hinckley :-) Yeah, the fire trucks in 7945 aren't enclosed. They just have a roof over the "garage". Clavin: I just didn't have enough pieces to have white corner stones on both sides, but I didn't think to take out the ones on the left >.< I'll play around with my MODed 7945 a little more, and I should be able to post pictures of it soon. - Poomie Quote
Wouwie Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 the idea of a smal firehouse is great but it really need a second garage..... Quote
Poomerio Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 "Yep, Poomie, it definately needs a second garage, even if you didn't have enough bricks to make it, so you just used what you have avaliavble." That sums it up; why I only built one garage, and why it's so small. I only have the 7945 and a few red bricks to work with when building myself a station. I'll look around on brickshelf for some ideas, and maybe I could buy some bricks from S@H, Ebay and maybe Bricklink. - Poomie Quote
Wouwie Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 yeah, building with the bricks u have....., i'm going to dig up some instrucions of my fire collection for inspiration Quote
Poomerio Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 Well brickshelf is great for inspirational ideas, so I advise you check it out :-) - Poomie Quote
Wouwie Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 yeah i found a nice one, http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SoCalRay...t2station01.jpg i wanna try to make one like an american fire house...... but i have not much useable red bricks >:-( Quote
Wouwie Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I only have the 7945 and a few red bricks to work with when building myself a station. a fire house doesn't always has to be red, our local station is kinda grey-black Quote
