Posted April 25, 20159 yr Hi everyone! I would like to display you my custom TATRA T817. I worked on it for 3 years. During these 3 years I had to spend some time on looking for parts, too. Although some colors and other things are still not perfect, and there are a few things I would do in another way, I think I have done it for now. First I wanted to make a trial truck with a Tatra like suspension system. I wanted it to be easy to recognise and good to play with. I think it's really difficult to achieve all these things at a same time. I don't know how much it weights but it's quite heavy. :) The first 4 half axle are my own creations but they could have been done with unimog portal axles. :) A few words about what it can do: I can drive it through my foot with slippers in first gear ratio without crackling gears. Due to its not so good ramp angles I wouldn't take part in TT races. :) At every half axle two yellow springs carry the weight. I have created a small clutch that takes the drive to the supporting legs. It has a battery box and a V1 reciever and another V2 one. I have masked them as cargo on the platform of the truck. Motors: 2 XL, 2 M One M is used for changing gears and another one for steering. Other functions are carried out by XL's: driving, v8 fake engine. The gearbox has 3 stages: 2-N-1. You should switch between functions in N stage. These are: winch, compressor, turntable, actuator, moving the 'hook' up and down, supporting legs. I wanted the switches of the functions to be easily recognisable so I used 'green apple' pieces. It has a pneumatic pump as well so that we can quickly get a lot of air. April 25, 20159 yr 3 years??? Now that is persistence! I like the small details you made. I miss a photo of the underside, and I really think, that the crane supports should have some plate on the bottom. Only naked pneumatic piston head seems to unrealistic to me. Respect for sticking with it for so long. Best regards, miha Oh, and I am a bit puzzled about the clutch - how exactly does it transfer drive to the 4L axle with stop? April 26, 20159 yr That is a freaking beast! So many moving parts. Great job! Nice editing of the video too. Well done with seeing it thru!
April 26, 20159 yr Author Hi guys! Thank you for your responses. I have made a mistake while uploding the pictures of the clutch but I have alredy corrected it. On 4L axle with stop there is: That bush holds the gear. There is a picture of the underside of the truck. You are right. The crane could have been plated in a better way but I didn't have any more parts. Maybe in my next moc :)
