[MOC] BARC Speeder

Hello,

here is another small build from me, BARC Speeder.

There is a Lego spring-loaded shooter under the nose of it.

It looks nice, if a little off scale.

Looks nice! I like all the individual plates opposed to solid bricks. It gives it a nice feel. I'd love to see what else you can do.

I think it would be greatly improved if you just took the minifigure off of it, because then that makes people think it's to minifigure scale and that makes the whole model look off. On it's own it's fantastic though.

I'm going to go ahead and echo IronFish and TheRacker about the scale; this thing is massive for a minifigure to be piloting. it would seem that, if anything, a Technic figure would be much more at home [and to scale] piloting your BARC speeder.. the only other thing that stands out in a somewhat lackluster fashion is the slight mixing of old light grey with new light bley parts, but hey, I can completely understand having a limited number of bricks to work with. 'nd as far as I can tell it's only a couple of pieces anyway.

overall tis a lovely rendition of a BARC speeder, just a wee bit over sized for a standard minifig.

I guessed that the scale will be the subject with this build, but it is often a problem with the vehicles of this size.

I had the same problem with 74-Z Speeder Bike and the Droideka, but the result has been

the same; the looks are so much better when the scale is slightly bigger than it should be.

The same idea applies to this BARC Speeder, too. Though this is even bigger in scale than the Speeder Bike

and the Droideka, but on the other hand, I didn't personally find it bothering for two reasons.

-Even though the scale is bigger than it should be, the vehicle is in absolute studs only a thumbprint longer than the

official one in the set "Battle on Saleucami".

-BARC Speeder is supposed to be the heaviest speeder bike there is in Star Wars universum, so it has a right to

be a little big. I mean, in "Revenge of the Sith" BARC Speeders fly among the LAAT-gunships - something that would

be rather impossible thought for a regular Speeder Bike.

Well, there is also my personal glimpse when I look at the vehicle, and I don't feel it to be too big. But there is the fact

that I don't expect the driver's feet to be long enough to touch the pedals that would be anyway impossible, because

of Emmet and X-jumps.

One comment still for the correct colours. I actually do have quite a few bricks, though the pedals are available only in the old grey.

But mostly some bizarre colour asymmetries are simply due to the laziness of finding a certain brick in a certain colour for I only use

colour sorting (yes, it has its disadvantages but it also has some advantages). x)

it is true that the BARC is one of the most powerful speeders in the galaxy. they were used to escort LAAT/i's from time to time 'nd such.

I dunno what that point has to do with the scale you used all the same though... 'nd it's not like LEGO is renowned for getting scale right

with pretty much anything within the SW universe, but hey, when it comes down to it ~ all that matters is if you are satisfied with your creations.

I didn't know that that part was only available in old light grey.. huh.

your 74-Z 'nd Droideka are also very lovely, just to let you know.

mayhaps consider making some brick-built figures to accompany your creations?

I dunno.. it's just rather distracting to the eye.. makes your minifigures look extra small.

anywhat. tis all just my opinion, as long your bricks make ye happy, keep doing what you do.
