Lok24 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) Hi all, today I want to show some pictures of my trolley-bus. It has PF-Receiver,battery-box and a PF-Motor. Steering is establishd via the trolley system. Two Videos Steering mechanism Two different types of masts, one made of rails, the other of rigid hoses Test-tracks, mixed with both types (as I got only 4 hoses) The automatic switch point The technique inside Some Pictures Hope you like this little project cu Lok24 Edited April 28, 2015 by Lok24 Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 The fact it works and in such smooth manner is amazing! Nice use of old 14 tooth gear to solve alignment problems! Quote
mostlytechnic Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 That's fantastic - if I HAD roads in my layout, I'd 100% be making one of these! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 AWESOME engineering there 'Lok24'......I like the bus design and how you have packed it out with power functions. Brick On 'Lok24' ! Quote
PastVPresent Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Incredible! The design of any individual piece alone (bus body, pf/steering systems, or masts) would be impressive but together its just great - hope a lot of train folks come over to this forum to see this as well! Quote
Lok24 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) ..... hope a lot of train folks come over to this forum to see this as well! ... you could add a link there .... As it is no train I posted it here. Vice versa you find some other similar constructions in the train section cu Lok24 Edited April 28, 2015 by Lok24 Quote
yohai71 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 This is absolutely great work! And it's also nice to see that the bus design is not compromised- it looks very real. Is it going to the Wien westbahnhof, by any chance?... ;-) Quote
dr_spock Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Cool build. Nice compact steering mechanism. Are there any issues with the gears slipping? Quote
Lok24 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) Nice compact steering mechanism. Are there any issues with the gears slipping? Thanks. No, there is no slipping at all, because there is a tile round 2x2 with hole (dark grey) under the central gear, which keeps it in the upper position, so the both gears on the side can't move downwards. As you see in the video there isn't much room between the bus and the baseplates, but it takes absolutely the same way every time with great precision. cu Lok24 Edited April 28, 2015 by Lok24 Quote
eurotrash Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Excellent! That's already a good looking Trolley Bus and you've added some amazing functionality. Quote
L@go Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 That's some brilliant engineering right there - very clever solution. And the bus looks the part, too. Well done! Quote
peedeejay Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 The construction looks so simple but yet this is the most amazing part of it. It looks like something everyone could built, but only a few or maybe no one could think of it. Absolutely amazing. Quote
The Player Nº1 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 WOW. What a nice idea. It's so smooth. Congrats. Quote
alois Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 What a great idea to use the overhead cables to steer the bus. But why not use tubes on the straight stretches? That would make it still better. Greetings from Arnhem, Trolleybus city of the Netherlands. Quote

L@go Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 If you read the original post again, you'll see this: Test-tracks, mixed with both types (as I got only 4 hoses) Quote
Lok24 Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Hi all, thanks for your interest. I now added the Enjoy! cu Lok24 Edited April 29, 2015 by Lok24 Quote
G0M Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Awsome Job ! Simple but not simplistic. In a word, Ingenious ! Look forward to seeing you integrate it in a city ! Edited April 29, 2015 by G0M Quote
BricksMcgee Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Great build - bus is brilliant by itself, but the track system is impressive too. Looks like it runs very smoothly, too! Quote
Ex cinno Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Great project: you've got a really soft movement. Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 That is seriously impressive. Well done. Quote
