LieutenantBluecoat Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) I created a quite detailed MOC, originally supposed to be a Soldier's Fort overhaul but I felt it was too early considering it was just released. It includes a Defence Tower (Of course), an Imperial Sloop, and a Pirate Dinghy. Additional Images: So yeah, here it is. It could use a lot more decoration, but I'll do that later. The first floor has a prison-like design, and includes a weapons rack and a barrel. The second floor contains a chest with three pickaxes, a table with a glass and a map, a chair, and a barrel. Finally, we have the third floor, which includes four lanterns, a barrel (Sheesh, there's a barrel on every floor!) a mobile cannon, a flag (Supposed to be the imperial soldiers flag but the decal is not in LDD.), and a crane. The sloop was created per Captain Braunsfeld's request. And finally we have the pirate dinghy identical to the one in Soldier's Fort. The minifigs included in this MOC are three Imperial Soldiers, an Imperial Sergeant, an Imperial Captain, and two Pirates. Feel free to give me your feedback, comments, and suggestions! Changelog: + Added Epaulets/Backpacks * Turned the sloop into a gaff rigged sloop (Or at least my impersonation of it) (Changed the sails, added cannons in the middle, changed the bowsprit, etc.) + Added more decoration to the interior * Changed cannons to the miniature launchers. Captain Dee Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 First of all, you didn't waste any time posting after joining up (I left you a welcome on the new member thread) and secondly it's never too early to do a re-make (well, as long as the sets have been released, anyway). The tower looks like it would fit right in with the official sets. Combined with the two pirates in the rowboat it would make a decent set. I would like to respectfully suggest that a little more work be done on the sloop. The sides should probably be built up and the bowsprit should be made from something much smaller in diameter - like the technic bits you used elsewhere. The vessel would be better balanced with the cannon in the middle (vs the stern) and you could probably drop the wheel in favor of a tiller. It's a start, and again, the tower is very nice. See you around! Quote
LieutenantBluecoat Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Bowsprit: Done. Uses the TECHNIC pieces and looks much better (I as well thought the bowsprit didn't look good.) Cannons: Oh, uh... Misheard you there, I thought you meant two cannons to the sides... (Then again, the sloop would be too crowded with the cannon in the middle.) Tiller: The sloop is too big for the use of a tiller. I'm sticking with the steering wheel. I'd love to hear any more suggestions you have. Quote
Capn Frank Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Tiller: The sloop is too big for the use of a tiller. I'm sticking with the steering wheel. Just so you know, there are some real life vessels the size of the BSB that have a tiller, so Captain Dee was giving you some good advice. The Friends Good Will uses a tiller. I've seen it myself. Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Keep going - this is getting better from MOC to MOC! Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Whoa - that's a lot of firepower! Three cannons might be a bit too much. Let me rephrase what I said earlier - if you remove the wheel you could place the stern cannon midships. If you had to keep the wheel you could move it back. The rigging looks much better and the bowsprit is far more appropriate. As Captain Braunsfeld said, this is improving. Keep it up. Quote
Bluecoat officer Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Great build. Especially right after joining up. Quote
LieutenantBluecoat Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 Keep going - this is getting better from MOC to MOC! Thanks, I actually have been getting better. This is how I built my MOCs two years ago: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/9/91/Custom_Creators.png/revision/latest?cb=20131026132955 (Sorry about the link: Image extension isn't allowed on the community.) Thats an embarrassment to every MOC builder on the planet. Whoa - that's a lot of firepower! Three cannons might be a bit too much. Let me rephrase what I said earlier - if you remove the wheel you could place the stern cannon midships. If you had to keep the wheel you could move it back. If I understood you correctly, I have added back the launchers which I think are the "Stern Cannons" you were talking about. Quote
