"They're probably not even mean or scary anymore, just defensive. That takes the, uh, fun out of it. Besides, if we do go back to squish em... We have the entire Parlor to do again."

"Aye, lets get back. this has been fun and I could do it again for the trainning and the challange, but speakin the truth I would give anything for a mug o mead or two." Keliim gets in line to get out of the Parlor.

Posted

The dwarf smiled white under his black beard throwing his head back in laughter. "Now yer speakin' on somethin' that makes some sense!" Muradin's face settled into contentment. "Aye, beetles to beer. I wouldn' 'ave it any other way."

Weary of its confines the party moves forward and passes through the portal for a second time. With a stomach lurching pop they find themselves standing once again in the above ground Altar chamber. At least they hope it is, there is no sign of the Falcon Brothers who proceeded them. They look around hoping to see a sign they actually went somewhere when they hear a familiar voice behind them.

magus10.jpg

Ahh, welcome back to the Red Court, the Caliph is awaiting your report. Follow me, please.

The magus leads the party through the halls of the keep, until once again they stand before the Caliph.

delive10.jpg

A smile spreads over the Caliph's face and he raises his arms in greeting. Obviously in a much better mood than when last they spoke.

caliph10.jpg

Welcome back all of you. My Commander Hizari tells me that you have come to the heart of why my Parlor became unresponsive. Please, I would hear what you have experienced and discovered.

Calamity sees no reason to beat around the bush, seeing as Keliim already told the Falcons everything.

"If you'll allow me? Simply said, a demon found it's way to your testing chambers -a portal mage is responsible, mind you- This demon could not find her way out, so creatures went haywire, which messed up your recruits. By the way, from what I've seen of them, no big loss there. Your Falcons were under the demon's spell and served her needs for a while. Eventually, we got the keys together and used the portal device to transport the demon away, freeing your falcons and allowing us to return as well. Any questions, my lord?"

caliph10.jpg

A malfunction with the portal magic. A demon you say? Magus, is what this one says possible?

magus10.jpg

The Magus looks very uncomfortable as he answers.

Well your Magesty, Most high among the rulers of the Desert, there are scholars among us that theorize that our portals harness the space between realms in order to allow our transport. If this small faction is correct, than a being who resides within that inter-realm space could be drawn though accidentally. I assure you sire, it is only a very small faction who believe such. I find it far more likely that the beast she describes entered our, I mean Your, Parlor intentionally. Our magics are beyond repute. Even more so now that we know we have wards capable of containing a Demon. We should have no fear of any of our subjects escaping.

caliph10.jpg

The Caliph cuts him off with a gesture.

Stop your prattling Magus, your position is not in jeopardy. Have your council investigate the issue. Being able to call demons from the Ether, may not be a terrible thing in times of war. But I digress. You have fulfilled your contract with me, and as I pledged I owe all of your a depot of gratitude and payment. Commander, as you spoke so highly of these heroes, please open the chest at your feet and pay each of them their due.

comman10.jpg

At your command my Lord.

The Blonde man opens the chest and removes five heavy bags of gold.

Take these with my thanks. Though you share not my vows or belong to the order, I will consider all of your Brother's. and Sisters.

ALL PLAYERS RECEIVE 100 GOLD COINS

caliph10.jpg

I believe your contract also called for you to each to choose an item from my armory. Are there any of you who would wish to add to the telling of your tale before The Magus escorts you there?

"If demons like that could enter our world at will, there'd be a lot more demon invasions happening and archdemons running around. The world would be that much more interesting."

Calamity weighs the gold, then grins and stashes it.

"Thank you, my lord."

OoC: Keliim will say something, but we are right now in Helsinki on vacation, will post later today when I have more time.

Keliim continues the story Calamity had told and tells some of the same things about what happened, he also includes some of his own experiences with daemonic creatures and that he thinks this was not last what we had seen of the spider demon.

"It will probably turn up sometime... in future."

Then he asks about the traitor Aristune and says if he is still alive his conditions under the Control of a demon isn't anything to envy.

He thanks the Caliph, "Thank thou, very much Caliph. It has been an honour to work for thy."

Then he turns to Hizari and says "Thank thou friend, thou seem like an honourable man. Too bad our visit wasn't longer, if the gods allow maybe our paths may cross again, hopefuly in better conditions."

It saddens me to hear of the loss of an entire training Cadre. But, the Brotherhood expects and accepts only the best. If they were found wanting, better to know now than in the heat of battle. Magus, take these men to the Armory. Each of you may choose a single item from my stores. I apologize that we are not more fully stocked, but we have many men in the field.

The king bids the party farewell and the magus leads the party silently to yet another wing of the red keep. How big is this place anyway? He opens a door and gestures the party inward. Before them is the Caiph's armory.

Again, Each party member may take ONE item from the armory. There are no duplicates. First claimed is first owned.

Terry goes and claims the Ether Lash Wand. He twirls it in it's palm, the wind magic of his sapphire granting it extraordinary speed.

"Magus, give the Caliph my thanks for this..."

OoC: I wasn't the most active on the quest so I'll wait until the end of the day to choose.

"I can imagine having a lot of fun with this."

Muradin gestured to his milky left eye, his tone heavy "It ain't as fun as it looks." after feigning a beat of seriousness he flashed a smile and tossed himself over to the weapons on the back wall. Examining each ones' sales price lethality.

The dwarf held the dagger in two hands, simulating an overhead blow with a much larger weapon. Giving the toothpick a face of disgust before placing it back on the wall.

"Magic accident, Muradin?"

"Oi wish! No it wasn' a ball of fire that took my eye." Muradin paused his speech with a grin, "If ye really must know, a Jotun can't be trusted with an' ax! An' that's all I gots to say about that." He began weighing the wind blade in his grip.

Keliim looks over the armory, the bigger weapons finds his intrest. He holds the great sword in his hands and looks over the staff ax. But puts them back, thinking some great items here but nothing that really fit him. Walking away, he sees the Scarab Shield. Not really an shieldbearing person but this could be good. The big man takes the shield.

The dwarf spots Kelim in the corner of his eye as he takes the staff-ax "Aye, ye know how to use one of those things?" Muradin remarked, seeing how unwieldy the shield seemed when the large man picked it up.

As the Party Chooses their rewards from the Armory there is a commotion in the hall. Many booted feet running past the door. One man ducks into the room and whispers something to the Magus.

If you would all follow me, I must return to the throne room immediately.

The Caliph and his advisers are both there when the party arrives.

You majesty, this is nothing that is not expected. You asked us to breed more strength and aggression into the Line. In the quest for a better adversary there will be setbacks.

caliph10.jpg

Well my friends, it would seem I must cut your farewell short. I have a small matter that needs to be attended to. Apparently one of my breeding stock has escaped captivity, and is attempting to leave my lands. I cannot allow this creature to escape, we have invested far too much in its breeding and training. If you wish the Magus will return you to Eubric imediately Via Portal.

The Caliph rises from his throne and begins to leave the room.

Unless of course you would be willing to help me in one final task?

Congratulations, you have successfully completed "A Walk Through the Parlor." Each of you may now return to the Hall.

OPTIONAL: Any of you who wish to help the Caliph with his final task may do so, but it is not required. Please volunteer only if you are available to post regularly.

The big man responces back to Muradin with a smile , "Aye, I don´t really like to use shields but they be vert really handy in some situation, especially when I am an tall man I can wield a two handed weapon with me right arm only and hold an shield with the other, helps alot.

I don't think that long staff-ax is much diffrent in how to use it from thy hammer. A great weapon.

Keliim was prepering to head back to Eubric with the others when he heared what the Caliph said about, helping him with this small task.

He turns back to him and says "I would be intrest'd to help out on this final task, I guess the mug of mead can wait f'r a dram while longer.

What kind of task woult this be?

It has been an really great quest Asphalt, thanx for hosting. I had a blast playing it. :sweet: Will post more in the lounge later on.

"I think I want to head home. It was, ah, fun, caliph. As fun as the whole '"life in jeopardy trial" thing could get... But I need to go home to Ma and Pa."

Terry steps through the portal, returning to Eubric.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Outlander, but it would seem your compatriots are eager to return to your city. Again, I thank you for your service. IF I am in need again I will certainly contact your Hall. Please enjoy the hospitality until you are ready to depart.

With that, the Caliph and his remaining advisor leave the throne room. Presumably to deal with his "Breeding Stock" problem.

The Walk Through the Parlor been completed successfully.
