GuyDudeMan27 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Looks good so far. I like the Snot approach you took to the wings. My only problem with that is that they look to short. The angle is also too sharp. This makes the whole thing too short. Instead of using a 1x3 inverted slope, I would use a 1x4 slope, and essentially flip the whole wing so that the studs face outward, and the bottoms toward the cockpit. Something else to consider would be attaching tiles onto the Snot wings to cover trouble areas up, and add some extra height and texture. I think after you do that, you can extend the cockpit out some more, along with the guns. In its current form, it looks a bit too chibi. That being said, I still think you have the beginnings of a great moc here. Keep working on it! Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you post the LFX? I'd like to mess around with this. Quote

GuyDudeMan27, You have correctly pointed out the flaws. I concur the wing angle is indeed too sharp , which makes things look odd (say the length of the model and the look of cannons compared to the wings), but it happened to be the only suitable inverted slope to accommodate the clever angles of part 3048c slope 45 2 x 1 Triple – with inside bar. I did not consider lengthening it because I would eventually run into the chance of being overly long like Lego's released snowspeeders or others' MOCs I have seen across the internet. Additionally, the cockpit looks rather odd compared to other aspects of the aircraft. I am pondering whether to alternatively use these parts: 3823 (or its inverted counterpart), 57783, or 6238 to help with the overall look of the model. And yes I will post the file—and by all means post the alterations you made to this topic! Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 To each their own. I guess what I was trying to say is that it looked a bit undersized overall to me. I'll definitely have a field day playing around with the LFX. Quote

GuyDudeMan27 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I did some experiments where I put the slopes right on top of each other. I also tried out using 1x4 slopes. I kinda had a rude awakening last night when I was playing Rouge Squadron II. I realized the snowspeeder had a weird shape. I think whatever you choose will look good. Quote

Playing Rogue Squadron II lately? that sounds like fun! I have a demo version of Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike and frequent the nostalgic gameplay of taking down the AT-AT walkers (and most other times postponing the mission to admire the awesomeness of them ). Well at last here is the final design of the snowspeeder . I'll publish the file shortly, but I first wanted to hear your opinion on the latest version and if you had any improvements you would recommend? LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Keeps looking better as it progresses. Nice. Yep! and it's finish so far—next is to build with physical bricks, then make a new post on that! Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Yep! Very nice! Thank you! I am indeed very please with the final design! Quote
ScottishDave Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I've been following this thread with great interest. It's great to see the finished design, and especially to see it compared to something which I know very well :-). I like your design for the nose. It's a tricky area to get right, and it's nice to see someone doing something new and original in this area. I also like the SNOT wings, and I think you've done some interesting things with them. I do feel that the join between the snot wings and the nose looks a little messy, and could do with a bit more work - but it's your design! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of it in real bricks. Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Thanks! I am greatly proud of the ideal design I came to accept, and at a time, enjoyed building against the challenges presented prior to what's now achieve (I gratefully laugh at my first design )! NOT TO SOUND CONCEITED IN ANY WAY Hopefully, I am correctly giving you the answer to your opinion… If the nose between the wing looks peculiar in any way, this might be due to the entities brick and plate existing simultaneously to clean up a mutual job of unsightly gaps, while also accommodating the "sloping, trapezoidial, wedge brick," which will conveniently display the detail pattern on the front of the snowspeeder. This being done was probably the only way to get the right angles and eliminate gaps as much possible. Real bricks are up next; I'll also see to incorporating air breaks on the gun tower or energizer! Also too, thanks for sharing your reverse-engineered snowspeeder—excellent component! Quote

LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Thanks! But it just happens I have made several more updates after this one, specifically the power converter, to the final stage energizer tower, then the laser barrel—it looks pleasurably "beefy" in these revised areas, and even more so accurate. See below… More updates… again by Mr. Busy Hands, on Flickr I would issue the new file but I can see more updates down the road. Speaking of outdated files I will remove them for now and replace them when I know the snowspeeder is absolutely finish. Edited May 28, 2015 by LiLmeFromDaFuture Quote
