Cecilie Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Last weekend was my Norwegian LUG's annual event, På Kloss Hold. This year we held a contest where we each built a 16x16 section of a beach (within some standard parameters). I chose to build a (tiny) stranded whale for my beach. Here's the result! Zepher Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Will Lisa Simpson offer no assistance?! Nice little scene - very cute whale, love the shape of the mouth and "snout" (what exactly do whales have?). Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 What a lovely diorama! I love the whale, its use of SNOT and such. Quote
deraven Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Best whale I've seen at that scale. Great little scene! Sounds like a cool contest. Do you have any shots of the other entries (or all of them assembled together)? Edited May 2, 2015 by deraven Quote
Cecilie Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Will Lisa Simpson offer no assistance?! Nice little scene - very cute whale, love the shape of the mouth and "snout" (what exactly do whales have?). Go watch this Simpsons episode before complaining http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Squirt_and_the_Whale And I'm no expert in whale anatomy But thank you, I'm quite happy with the shaping of it What a lovely diorama! I love the whale, its use of SNOT and such. Thank you Best whale I've seen at that scale. Great little scene! Sounds like a cool contest. dr_spock Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Nice work. Is it a BeLUGa whale? Would a 1x2 or 2x2 jumper work for a blow hole? Quote
Cecilie Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Thanks guys Nice work. Is it a BeLUGa whale? Would a 1x2 or 2x2 jumper work for a blow hole? Sure, let's say that I tried with a jumper for a blow hole, but I didn't like the look. The blow hole shouldn't stick out like a stud does, so I chose to just leave it out for a more clean look. Bob De Quatre Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 A really like that diorama! It's a nice choice to recreate that Simpsons moment. The tail may be a little too large. Have you tried it with 2x3 wedges? And I'm no expert in whale anatomy I'm so disappointed... To think I was believing in you... Quote
Balbo Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Awesome! I like how you made the whale. The inclusion of Lisa is very nice, too Quote
