I like applying stickers and it is one of the highlights of the build experience. I do not really have an opinion on the lego movie and have only seen it once. I think lego is priced fairly in comparison to other toys and hobbies. I hate The Brothers Brick. I think how you play with your own lego is your business. I think the quality of lego sets is improving all the time. I believe lego is both a kids toy and a serious art medium - like paints and pencils. I think the lego community is one of its best features.

Oh, and I also don't like Grand Emporium or Parisian restaurant. Though I will not rule out getting it in the future. And I wish the modulars were open back instead of modular - though the liberation of parts from the debacking process makes me glad they are not.

I think my problem with 'Legos' is that it doesn't make sense to me - the company is called Lego. They make Lego bricks. Which are made into Lego sets. Those two are the words to pluralise... Also, it's primarily an American thing, here in UK I have never ever heard even non-fans use Legos.

Having said that, though it makes me cringe every time I see it, I would never correct anyone who uses it. Life really is too short :)

Oh yes.. I also agree that the Lego Movie sets should be scrapped.

as in the series ended? It already has! we got 3 waves and there's been no word on more sets. Combine that w/ the factor that licensed sets rarely make it past 3 waves and it's obvious its game over for the them. the way that society moves these days, that movie is ancient history.

New waves would have been released if it was a true success.

taking into account that no matter how much a LT is loved, it's lucky to make it to the 3 year mark, it's not a surprise its history. Minecraft sets, the minifigure scale, is something i love but i'm already mentally preparing myself for it to get canned in about a year and a half.

I'm more interested in Constraction sets than I am in the normal System type sets. In fact, BIONICLE, Hero Factory, and Mixels are the only sets I buy now a days. (When my parents say I can, anyways.)

Chima had 137 sets released. LotR had 16 sets released. That sums up the success of LEGO LotR for me

This is a terrible example. You do realize a licensed theme is NOTHING like an original theme in which Lego holds all the rights to? Furthermore the number of sets released for LotR and the Hobbit is in line with the number of sets released for other themes we know were a success. Indiana Jones only had 17 sets while Pirates of the Caribbean had 14. Neither of which received a huge D2C set like LotR.

That doesn't make much sense. You are calling for classic lines to be the only ones made and that a core licensed theme be dropped as it has been out too long. If all they did was castles (or castle, pirates, city, space), then there would be continuous rehashes of those sets and the themes would be out too long. How many castles do you need?

You also need to remember that new children are born each day.

Well, this IS the "unpopular opinions thread", after all. ;)

I kind of agree with him, to be quite honest. I mean, how many new versions of an X-Wing do we need, going by your logic? I wouldn't mind seeing the Star Wars lines and anything else licensed being put to bed, even though I understand why they exist and why it won't ever happen. :)

On that note, I am also of the somewhat unpopular opinion that I seem to find collecting vintage sets more appealing than making MOCs... but that might also be because I have two very small children at home and no time for MOCs. ;)

Unpopular opinions...

The Lego movie was exclusively for kids... Everyone should get over it. I watched it with my nephew he loved every minute. I watched it with my wife and she wanted to turn it off after two minutes :). It did nothing to get adults interested in Lego who weren't already interested in itI don't think that was really the point. The jokes for adults were for AFOLS and super hero nerds (like me). My non Lego fan friends thought it was incredibly childish :)"

Why don't Lego use the toy story large scale arms and legs more for figs like vader and chewie or Groot.

People should stop bashing clone companies, especially when it comes to making figs, if they can provide cheap alternatives to spending 200 dollars plus on a green arrow then we should welcome that.

People who discriminate against fleshies or yellow need to get a grip. I used to be fleshie only. but understand now that each has their appropriate place now. Its's just prejudice :).

Monorail is never coming back.

Minifgs are the best thing about Lego and sets need more not less figs, why don't they sell sets of minifgs anymore, as a kid the packets of spacemen were literally the best set I ever bought.

I agree Lego should do a war theme. They won't do war but will sell pirate gallons, all sorts of crazy space tanks, and other clearly conflict based themes.

POTC was great I wish it had lasted longer.

Owning larger amounts of Lego enables you to become a better builder (not saying it equates to talent), everyone seems to ignore this basic premise.

Eurobricks staff never blog small but clever builds. The front page is dominated by spectacular but seemingly always massive builds. I'd like to see more recognition for clever npu and topical builds.

Cmfs should also be released in fleshie. Do two versions...

Sorry but i'm not going to "get over it" when lego decided to basically insult the only reason they are making as much money as the r now! I highly doubt its only the kiddies buying up the big ticket lego sets that really pull in the money. You know stuff like the death star, modular buildings, and the Simpson sets. I highly doubt its only the kids buying all those cmf's, often a CASE at a time, for one reason or another.

Okay.

It was one thing when you were dumping childish comments and some members were once again repeating their favourite bugbears. Now that people are trying to argue points with each other and there are more troll attempts I am closing this.

This is a forum for AFOLs remember.
