The iconic DB Class 103 was the reference to one of the most beloved LEGO trains sets 7740. It is our goal to make this new version become a real LEGO product, but this is not the only goal of this project.

In 2013 the RLUG Danish ”Byggepladen” reached a Guinness World Record for longest plastic toy train track. 4,000.25 meters (13,124 ft 2 in) all done in old blue LEGO train tracks. Danish Lego enthusiast Henrik Ludvigsen was the man behind the project, and now he and Byggepladen is going to go even further. Actually 10x further.

42,195 meters (131 873 ft 45⁄16 inches) = 329,718 LEGO train tracks

The iconic marathon distance has been covered by athletes all over the world, but to build the tracks out of LEGO train tracks is a daunting task. The first hurdle is the 329,718 LEGO tracks that is needed, and this I where you can help by supporting the DB Class 103 project.

If the DB Class 103 project reaches 10,000 supports and becomes a LEGO Ideas model, the 1% of the total net sales will be used to purchase the LEGO tracks and make this record become a reality. If the project never becomes a reality the 1% will be donated to UNICEF.

We are planning to make the new Guinness World Record in the summer 2017.

The locomotive is designed by Lars Mogensen - a member of the Danish RLUG "Byggepladen". The locomotive are build using 474 LEGO bricks.

The locomotive is ready for Power Functions.....

Find it here: http://ideas.lego.com/projects/102291

Please support this crazy idea - thanks.

There's a typo on your ideas page where it says "40,195 meters."

I remember your last world record. It was really cool! Will you be using blue tracks again?

I know .... It Will be fixed with the help of the LEGO ideas team.

This one with not be with the blue tracks... I am pretty sure that finding 660.000 blue tracks is very hard, if not unpossible..

It Will be with the new tracks....

Yeah, when I saw your original video, I wondered how you were able to find so many of those old tracks! That was a ridiculous number of them.

I just ordered 275 more of the new tracks. I thought that was a lot. (I'll have about 400 altogether when the order comes in.) That's nothing compared to what you're doing! :classic: I wonder how many times the batteries will die before your train reaches the end!

42km? Can the batteries last long enough for one complete trip? It's too bad the metal 9v track doesn't handle power over that distance.

No, the batteries have to be changed during the ride....

Maybe we should look at a custom battery box on a tender wagon? Or two linked.. ?

I just noticed something. Is there a possibility of using a printed windshield piece like on the HE? That would give it that distinct two window shape of a DB 103, while still staying in budget.

Thanks for the support - when we are going to make the new World Record we will be using 330.000 tracks ... We do not have all the tracks.

After summer - we will launch a BULK - buy tracks from LEGO - all the tracks will be delivered to us, we use them for the record, and then the tracks will be delivered to you.

We wil contact every RLUG after summer ......

Sorry, I can't support it because I already am. Sometimes I wish I could vote twice.

Nice video...
