PeterF Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Ouch, considering there are "just" 52 1x2 grill tiles ... That is part actually comes in metallic silver. You can find them for less than €0.10 a piece on BL The rest would still cost a fortune though. Oh and great model btw!!! Edited May 10, 2015 by PeterF Quote
Blakbird Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 A truly beautiful and recognizable model of an iconic car. I've had the pleasure of driving one of these in the real world and your model really brings back memories. It is hard to appreciate what a massive amount of steel is in the car until you are standing next to it. You can captured the unique lines perfectly. If you are interested in some renders when you are working on the instructions, just send me a PM. In the interim, I couldn't help but brighten up one of your pictures to show off this model even better. Before: After: Quote
martijnnab Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) In the interim, I couldn't help but brighten up one of your pictures to show off this model even better. Blakbird, That sure makes a difference with little effort. Nice improvement. How did you do that, just improve the brightness? I always throught this hobby was about building with Lego, but I am surprised about how many surrounding skill can also be usefull when sharing the work with others. From making pictures with good lighting and background, improving them with photoediting, shooting movie shots and editing a movie, cad skills for transferring to LMCad, making nice rendering, Lpub for making instruction or reverse photosequencing. Before you know it it's a daytime job  . But fun to do and nice to see everybody has their own expertise and willingness to help. Edited May 11, 2015 by martijnnab Quote
Blakbird Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 That sure makes a difference with little effort. Nice improvement. How did you do that, just improve the brightness? Not quite, but it was very easy. Took less than 10 seconds. I opened the picture in GIMP and then opened the "Levels" tool. From there you can select a button which allows you to select the white point from the image. Your image was a little dark so there was technically no pure white in it. I selected a spot on our background with no shadow, and then the tool adjusted the whole image to make that point white. That's it. Quote
MacKaiwer Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 One of the nicest Caddys ever and you just nailed it Just lovin the model and your design/build!!! Quote
martijnnab Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Not quite, but it was very easy. Took less than 10 seconds. Blakbird, easy trick, but very effective, thanks for the advice. Quote
agrosskurth8191 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 That is so awesome. Old cars are my soft spot lol. Amazing Work!!!! Quote
martijnnab Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) All, After way too many hours spend this week I managed to complete the instructions of the Cadillac. It was quite a challenge to get it on photo well and at 2.4 kg and 3136 parts it will also be quite a challenge to rebuild the model. Hope you enjoy it and please show me the result should you have it finished!!! http://www.rebrickab...o-biarritz-1959 Edited May 22, 2015 by martijnnab Quote
SilenWin Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Hope you enjoy it and please show me the result should you have it finished!!! Thank you for instructions, Martin! And can I use bodywork of your Cadillac as a part of MOC? Quote
martijnnab Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Sure, go ahead. Would appreciate it if you show me later what you made out of it.. Edited May 23, 2015 by martijnnab Quote

martijnnab Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Wow, that would be a cool contraption. Good luck building it. Keep us posted Quote
Theo van Vroenhoven Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) Another great model Martijn, nice work! Yesterday I collected all the parts, a lot of red and gray! Unfortunately I had to dismantle your Rolls Royce for the PF parts. Luckily I have enough Red #3 connectors since I own 8448 and 2x 8070. I needed some small BL orders to collect the 41 (!) white #2 connectors. It is a matter of time for these to become very expensive! ;-) Hopefully next weekend I can start the build. I scanned quickly through the instructions (don't want to spoil anything) and they look very nice! Thanks for this great MOC, which model is up next? ;-) Edited May 25, 2015 by Theo van Vroenhoven Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 superb. original model and done beautifully with talent. Quote
martijnnab Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Thanks for this great MOC, which model is up next? ;-) I have been looking at a Jaguar XK 120, as its a very rounded model and I want to make it in white this might be a bridge too far, but we will see. Should be similar size as the Rolls. For PF sets I look for 2nd hand crawlers on marktplaats. For €100 you can get them while the PF set alone costs €80 in parts on BL. Quote
jesuskyr Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Hello^^ I just built your great Cadillac using mlcad^^ Thanks for sharing the instruction and then I upload some cad-made figures: and unrealizable pink version^^ Quote
martijnnab Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Wow, Jesuskyr. Again what a great job and in record breaking time. Took you only 7 days to transfer the model to MLCAD, and does it look pretty!!!. As previously I am impressed and trulty gratefull for the effort you put in there!!! The pink is indeed the most brilliant. Clearly shows that Lego Technic is lacking one more primary color: PINK!!!! We should all petition for this. 정말 감사합니다 (Thank you very much!!)   Martijn Quote

jesuskyr Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Hello, Martijn I just introduce your BLACK Cadillac built by Korean LEGO community Bricknara member - Leadcorp: It's huge and looks great^^ Quote
SilenWin Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Hi everyone! Here is my version of Martin's brilliant Cadillac. It was very interesting and enthralling build for me. Main targets was changing color scheme and avoiding blue/red pins/axles in bodywork. The fact that with a large weight and high gear ratio (1.2 : 1) model is still very fast and maneuver suprised me a lot So, now it's time to transform this amazing MOC to something badass Looks like Doc Brown's monster truck needs a brother Quote
martijnnab Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) SilenWin, Thanks for sharing. Always fun to see others build the model. Shows my work of making and sharing the instructions is appreciated. Great edition with the black and red. Love it and sure look forward to your attempt to make it Mad-Max compatible!! Did you use an Sbrick as I cannot see the remote receiver anymore? Edited June 8, 2015 by martijnnab Quote
SilenWin Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Thank you for kind words, Martin! Did you use an Sbrick as I cannot see the remote receiver anymore? Yes, there are Sbrick and 2x LiPo batteries inside the trunk. Quote
