THERIZE Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I'm building a passenger train based of the British Rail Class 43. its basically 2 coaches with a shared bogie (Jacobs bogie) in the middle. simple design but with yellow stripes on the side and yellow front. I'm not sure if i should make more coaches due to the lack of train wheels. i could buy glass for a Dome car but im not sure if a shared bogie would easily fit under a base plate with a depressed section because the bogie would be to short to use all space under the base plate. im realy not sure what i could add except for the roof (im working on it) and seating. pictures will be posted later because i get an error with 'upload skipped (this file was too big to upload)' Quote
dr_spock Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Welcome to Eurobricks. Eurobricks is not really setup to host pictures. You can put your pics on a site like flickr and deep link them back here. Here is a tutorial on how to do that. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97921 You could make the shared bogies longer to fill in more space under the base plate. You still need to have sufficient clearance in curves so that the bogies do not hit the depressed area. Quote

dr_spock Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 There is Intercity 125 in your build. Are you looking to make a depressed floor for a dome car and still have the bogie attach to it? You could use this part to depressed the floor to something like this Quote

You say your train is based on the BR Class 43 / Intercity 125 but that's never had a dome car. Anyway, it's a promising start to a train building career ;-) Quote

garethjellis Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Hey THERIZE, Welcome to Eurobricks and welcome to the exciting world of Lego Train MOC's, It looks like you have made a great start on your first train MOC. A great place to start when building a model of a specific train is to research the real life example, look for photos, specifications and so on. I do not believe the BR Class 43 HST ever had Jacob bogies or dome cars. Some great inspiration can be found on flicker from other peoples builds that could help you with yours. Below are some links, Enjoy and good luck. THERIZE Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 New pictures at my flickr! Old link still works. Quote
detjensrobert Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Looks good, but the top edges are quite angular and flat. Might be good to use some rounded bricks on the top to make it look smoother. Nice job with the yellow nose though. Quote
