Posted May 12, 20159 yr My latest creation, a new home for my Lion Knights. I used different techniques I have seen around here. I kept the entire back of the castle open. With hopes that someday I will be able to buy more bricks and finish the backside of the castle, I would like to complete the keep and tower, add a back wall and add another tower. I am also building a town to sit in front of the castle. Enjoy! May 12, 20159 yr This is a very nice, solid castle. It doesn't have much surface texture but that's fine. It looks like it was fun to build and should be fun to play with. I like all the details in the exposed back. It's definitely better than the standard sets! Keep it up.
May 12, 20159 yr Author Thanks, yea it was a fun build, and my kids enjoyed playing with the castle as well. I hear ya on surface texture, I would love to add texture on all the walls, but my legos are limited at this time.
May 12, 20159 yr There's nothing wrong with the classic building techniques. Sure, textured walls look good... but they can be expensive too. If playability is more important to you than ultimate creativity, then use the simpler techniques. I know I would. Either way can look great and your castle is fine.
May 12, 20159 yr Author Thanks Captain Dee, yea creativity cost a decent amount of cash haha. And like you said, at least with the classic technique the playability is more. I would hate to see what my kids would do to some of the awesome creations here haha.
May 14, 20159 yr Very similar to an idea I had to flesh out the Kingdoms lion knight's castle. I like the effect the taller walls give. I really like the open back feature for playing. I was originally building one for my daughter, but then scrapped it because I wanted to build Helm's Deep.. I have since scrapped that idea also, so I think I will go back to building this Lion knight's castle for my daughter once again, thanks to seeing this! You are inspiring. Keep up the good work.
May 14, 20159 yr Author TheLegoDr, thanks and good luck with your castle buiild. My daughter was playing with this today, she loves the princess and the fact that she has rooms to play in.
May 25, 20159 yr Straightforward design - none of the modern "the wall must be bits and pieces" - I like it!
