Bob Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Main Street Mafia Day Two: Heads Will Roll It's late at night, and Shirley/Shelly Carter (def) is walking back from one of her shady back alley boxing matches. "I can't wait to get home and see how many people have bought their very own Bob." "Hey." a darkened figure says. "I've got a -" "Hey, I've been around long enough to know that you're here to kill me! Put up your dukes, let's get down to it!" "But I have this." the figure says. "Oh. Shit." *BANG* "And I never even sold a single jerk..." And that is the end of Shirley Carter (def). Elsewhere, Carl Hill (KingoftheZempk) is leaving Chez Albert after a late night. "Howdy. Do you want to take a look at my sword?" "It looks really cool and all, but couldn't you kill me with something a bit more conventional?" Carl asked. "I would, but the host used a ton of weapons in the mob scene yesterday, and he didn't want anybody looking for clues in the pictures." "Fair enough." And with a mighty swing, the sword flies right towards Carl's head... Causing it to roll away. Poor Carl Hill (KingoftheZempk) never stood a chance. Meanwhile, Katherine Murphy (jluck) is returning home after a peaceful walk in the park. "Crap. Where's the killer? There's got to be one around here somewhere. My night actions senses are tingling." *KABOOM* Katherine Murphy (jluck) was dead before she hit the ground. Elsewhere, somebody punched Al Cooper (TinyPiesRUs) in the face! "Ouch!" he said. "Who hits an old man?!" But besides that, he's unharmed. The Mayor stands in front of a ridiculously large assortment of unnamed NPC's to make his announcement. "I have good news and bad news." he starts. "The bad news is that Shirley Carter (def), Carl Hill (KingoftheZempk), and Katherine Murphy (jluck) are all townies! But there is good news! Brian Barnes (Shadows) was scum! Good job everyone! Find me some more mafia members!" ~~~ Players (14): Sarah Harris, owner of the Grand Emporium -- Jackjonespaw Christopher Harris, Sarah's Husband -- Dragonfire Wanda Barnes, Brian's Wife -- Piratedave84 Eric Foster, Co-owner of Chez Albert -- Palathadric Ann Foster, Co-owner of Chez Albert -- StickFig Eugene Bryant, Chef at Chez Albert -- Dannylonglegs Irene Allen, Firefighter -- Mostlytechnic Louis Murphy, Owner of the Pet Shop -- Jamesn Linda Cook, Owner of the Palace Cinema -- TrumpetKing Al Cooper, Owner of Al's Barber Shop -- TinyPiesRUs Pamela Cooper, Al's Wife -- Tamamono Ace Brickman, Private Detective -- Kintobar Russell Price, Dockworker -- Sandy Gregory McHenry, Res-Q Seaman -- Lady K Gone, but not forgotten: Brian Barnes, owner of the Green Grocer -- Shadows (Scum) Shirley Carter, Brickman's Secretary and Lover -- def (Townie) Carl Hill, Waiter at Chez Albert -- KingoftheZempk (Townie) Katherine Murphy, Louis' Wife -- jluck (Townie) Rules: 1) Every player has received their own character. You are either aligned as a Townie or Scum. The town need to eliminate the scum and the scum need to outnumber the town. Any third party characters have received their own conditions. 2) Every day you will be able to vote for a player. Voting should be done as so: Vote: Character (Player). Unvoting is to be done in the same fashion: Unvote: Character (Player). A majority vote is required to lynch a player. You must vote every day, or you'll receive some sort of devious punishment. 3) A game day will last 72 hours, but if a unanimous vote is acheived after the 48 hour mark and the day thread goes quiet, the day may end early to my discresion. You may not vote within the first 24 hours of the day. Once the day is over, you will have 24 hours to send in a night action if this applies to you. Nights will last at most 48 hours, but it usually won't and I'm just saying that so nobody faults me if I'm late. You may not talk about the game outside of the day thread. 4) The alignment of players who have been lynched, as well as those who died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5) You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6) You are encouraged to role-play in this game. I've provided a role for you to expand upon if you wish. With that being said, please try not to post out of character in the game thread. You may PM other players, but do so at your own risk. 7) If you die, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any players. Any information you had is null and void and is not allowed to be passed on under any circumstances. 8) Don't edit your posts. 9) You must post in every day thread. 10) Try to be nice to your fellow players. It's a game on a LEGO forum. 11) Violation of your first rule will result in a 5-vote penalty and your second violation will result in your death! 12) If any player asks you to break these rules or does break these rules in private, report them to me immediately with proof of their violation.
Tamamono Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Epic. So Russel is scum too then. Probably Greg too. Al, did you watch Shelley? Wait, I just noticed that it showed Al being blocked... Wtf?
Dannylonglegs Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Epic. So Russel is scum too then. Probably Greg too. Al, did you watch Shelley? Wait, I just noticed that it showed Al being blocked... Wtf? Zoot! I wanted to be the one to say "First!" Wow. Colour moi surprised about Shady! I pondered endlessly over the events of yesterday looking at them with the assumption that he was a townie! I have to look back at it all now! But before I do, I will agree with Pamela that the boxing gloves look like a block to me. It's strange that we get to see it though.
JackJonespaw Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Wait, I just noticed that it showed Al being blocked... Wtf? Has to be a scum block, then. Probably. There's no reason that the town would block Al. Shame about the three deaths, I really wasn't expecting Shirley to die this early on. Greg's on my suspicion list, too, especially after Shirley was the only one to vote for him yesterday. Bit...coincidental...he died, wouldn't you say? But before I do, I will agree with Pamela that the boxing gloves look like a block to me. It's strange that we get to see it though. Maybe because Al declared his role yesterday, so we'd know it? Not sure..
TrumpetKing Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Nice to see that Brian was scum. I still feel like Russell is likely scum as well, and is probably our best option for the day. Of course, it's sad to lose townies, but especially with a scum lynch, we now have some good markers for other potential suspects. Just because our feelings on Russell seem to be pretty confident, however, doesn't mean we should just mindlessly vote and be done with the day. That leaves us with not much to go on for tomorrow, and unless we have any night results, we're going to need something to push us forward.

Bit...coincidental...he died, wouldn't you say? Maybe because Al declared his role yesterday, so we'd know it? Not sure.. Agreed. Seems obvious to me. Yeah, I don't think so. Probably just a Bob thing. I'm surprised we see it, because that actually hurts the scum. There's none of the reasonable doubt that Al's lying about his role because he was blocked. When he shows up and says he was blocked the Scum won't be able to manipulate that to their favor because we already know.... but then again, who am I to complain?
Kintobor Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I'd assume the scummies hit Al with a role block so they could deal with a vocal townie, seemingly Shelly due to her sound logic and leading a rather good charge against Brian, who, holy crap, was actually scum! Nice job town! Shame though we lost three of our own. Speaking of, anyone seen Shirley, my secretary? She hasn't shown up yet. The three deaths say something pretty important too. We have a serial killer and a vigilante. If we run on a 3:1 ratio for townie to scum, there should be four more scumbums out there. Anyone want to share anything? Al can still claim who he attempted to block, or if he's even the watcher he claims to be. Either way, I want to hear his side of this.
mostlytechnic Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I think that might be a first in my experience, actually lynching a scum on day 1. Good job to the bandwagon! Still think it was more luck than actual scumhunting, but I'll take it. Now, to examine the pictures for clues....
Dannylonglegs Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I think that might be a first in my experience, actually lynching a scum on day 1. Good job to the bandwagon! Still think it was more luck than actual scumhunting, but I'll take it. Now, to examine the pictures for clues.... Agreed! Shame Katherine is no longer with us to share in the success she instigated! :sad_new: Ha! We already have! Also, I totally called the blind trust of Shadows thing... who ever guessed that the blind trusted would be me! *truster. Autocorrect.
Lady K Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Losing three townies is bad, but getting a scum on day 1 is great. Katherine was the first to vote for Brian....sad she isn't here with us now. At least we can now look back at the voting to see how it went.
Piratedave84 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Scum on day one! Perfect start! Carl's kill would certainly be the SK whereas Shirley is like ya scum kill. Now we need to figure out who could have targeted Al and we are likely looking at another scum.
JackJonespaw Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Now we need to figure out who could have targeted Al and we are likely looking at another scum. There was so much switching between votes yesterday that it potentially could be anyone. Eric voted for Al first, and then switched to me, so looking into him could be worth something. Has anyone started a table to keep track of votes? If not I will.
Palathadric Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Wow! Good going! I didn't really feel confident in the Brian, but good thing we offed him when we did. This has to be a first Day 1 scum lynch in a long while, in a situation I've been in at least. Scum on day one! Perfect start! Carl's kill would certainly be the SK whereas Shirley is like ya scum kill. Now we need to figure out who could have targeted Al and we are likely looking at another scum. Carl's kill would certainly be the SK whereas Shirley is like ya scum kill. Now we need to figure out who could have targeted Al and we are likely looking at another scum. I've been away from this thing for a while, but what makes you feel so certain Carl is the SK kill and not the vig-kill? Perhaps I'm missing something. Also, I will throw a new theory in on the "punching Al", maybe it's just a host ploy. Though, really, Al should be able to confirm if he was blocked or not when he comes around. Oops, quoted twice somehow. While I think Greg is highly suspect on many people's lists, I don't quite understand why Shirley being the only one to vote for him would be particularly telling? Were you expecting a lot of people to switch over to Greg after we already, more or less, secured the vote for Brian? Shirley was an obvious choice for the scum death, considering how active she was and how much she contributed, regardless of whether she voted rightly in voting for Greg or not. Also, I must take a line to mock your first three sentences. Ha, ha, ha! Here's to stating the obvious! And the last sentence on the line receives something of a .
Piratedave84 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Carl did not participate much; he seems like a perfect SK kill and Shirley is obviously a threat to the scum given her experience. I suppose Katherine could have been the SK kill ....
JackJonespaw Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Oops, quoted twice somehow. While I think Greg is highly suspect on many people's lists, I don't quite understand why Shirley being the only one to vote for him would be particularly telling? Shirley was an obvious choice for the scum death, considering how active she was and how much she contributed, regardless of whether she voted rightly in voting for Greg or not. It's more so that Shirley unvoted Brian, who at that point was already near lynch (Shirley's vote put him at 8), and so firmly voted for Greg. I'm not throwing any definite blame on anyone, but hardly anything is chance in Mafia, and Shirley would have most definitely (I think, at least) pushed for a vote for Greg today, if she was still alive. Also, for everyone, here's the mess of votes that is Day 1: Clicky! Really difficult to organize in any chronological way, so I just put numbers in front of the order of the vote, i.e. Eric voted for Al first, so there's a 1 in front of his vote; Carl voted next, thus, a 2.
MagPiesRUs Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Ow, my face! As far as I'm aware, I wasn't blocked. I'm not sure why I was punched in the face or what it did, but it sure did hurt. I might as well have been blocked though, since I decided to track Shelley last night. She didn't do anything, so she was presumably a vanilla. That's certainly good news that Brian was scum though! In light of this news, I think the three who tried to shift the bandwagon from Brian to Sarah - Irene, Eric and Russel - are extremely suspect. Also, I will throw a new theory in on the "punching Al", maybe it's just a host ploy. Though, really, Al should be able to confirm if he was blocked or not when he comes around. Why do you say that? Sounds like you know something we don't. Are you perchance the serial face-puncher? I was told via PM that I was punched in the face, so I'm guessing it must be some sort of night action.
jimmynick Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Wait, I just noticed that it showed Al being blocked... Wtf? Naively, it looks like Al got hit by the figure who killed Shelley - and took her boxing gloves? I think it's flavour. Brian wrote this, which I looked at again: I'm giving the first person voted for an opportunity to defend themselves. If they fail to do so, I plan to vote for them. No one else had been accused at the time, so I don't see how you can call that positioning myself with any vote except potentially that one. Since your reasoning makes no sense, I can only wonder if you're trying to come up with a weak excuse to split the vote. It's a bit early for such silliness, but hey, people have revealed themselves for less logical reasons, so consider yourself on my radar. Is it as though he was trying to avoid voting for Gregory? Even though he also said that "general scumminess" is a good enough reason to vote, which is what we all got on Al's case about later that day? And then when he voted for Al, he said something along the lines of "sneaky little hobbitses sheeped the Gregory vote but, gollum, I didn't vote!"
Sandy Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Wow, what a massacre of a night! Glad you guys were right about Brian in the end, though! If you pardon my metagaming, I didn't think it was statistically possible for him to be scum (yet again), but one should never trust statistics, it seems. Epic. So Russel is scum too then. No way! How does Brian being a scum correlate with me being a scum, anyway? Just because I wasn't fast enough to jump a bandwagon that got him voted out in the last minute yesterday? I voted for Sarah because it looked like she was going to garner votes after the lynch mob for Al dispersed. It was only after that when Brian started getting votes, and by then, it was already coffee break time for me. Al is still alive, and he can watch me all he likes during the night, if that is really his night action. I have my hands clean with these murders. That's certainly good news that Brian was scum though! In light of this news, I think the three who tried to shift the bandwagon from Brian to Sarah - Irene, Eric and Russel - are extremely suspect. I don't agree that the bandwagon for Brian had started in earnest by the time I placed my vote. There were no real reasons to vote him other than "being worried he might be scum yet again". At that time, I had no reason to defend Brian, but I had no reason to vote for him either. The whole discussion wasn't even focused on Brian by the time I called it a day! These words were put into my mouth yesterday. "Considering all the lynch candidates there are today, I have to vote for either the claimed watcher (tracker) or the newly appointed Queen of the Lurkers. Wait, who's Brian? Nope, never heard of him!" I agree, I haven't really heard about him yesterday. Sure, he was vocal, but so were plenty of others. Him refusing to switch from voting for Al was admittedly scummy move, but I didn't switch my vote immediately after the role call either - and I'm not scum! Why didn't I? Because there was nobody else potential at the time. The focus then moved to Sarah, so I agreed it was more sensible to vote for the lurker than a possible watcher. Had I voted for Brian just for the sake of voting for Al, I would've been a big hypocrite - along with the other six who voted for Al, too. The three deaths say something pretty important too. We have a serial killer and a vigilante. If we run on a 3:1 ratio for townie to scum, there should be four more scumbums out there. Or we could alternatively have a second mafia family. It would not be unheard of.
MagPiesRUs Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Al is still alive, and he can watch me all he likes during the night, if that is really his night action. I have my hands clean with these murders. So are you still leaning towards me being scum? Even after Brian turned out a Milano? Because if you think we're both scum, I would have thought you'd be a little suspicious of whoever tried to shift the vote to Sarah... Obviously you're going to argue that you're town, but what do you think of Irene and Eric's votes for Sarah? Also, I should probably mention that someone came to me claiming to be the cop at some point after Day One. I'm not entirely sure why they did this, but I'm inclined to believe them unless someone else can prove otherwise.

Glad that "you guys" were right, not "we the town"? I suppose you could be just meaning "you, the bandwagon that lynched a scum" but it still feels awkwardly worded to be a townie statement. Second, you're admitting the reason you voted Sarah with me was just to jump on a bandwagon you hoped would go somewhere? Not because you thought she was scum? And third, so you're just a milano goon, not a scum role since you're asking to be tracked? Could you BE more blatant about it? Also, I should probably mention that someone came to me claiming to be the cop at some point after Day One. I'm not entirely sure why they did this, but I'm inclined to believe them unless someone else can prove otherwise. When are people going to learn patience around here? Every game there's quick claims to people who should not be fully trusted yet. Yes, I suspect you're truly town and the tracker, but there's no confirmation on that. I sure wouldn't be claiming COP to you yet! Good news is they're probably telling the truth since scum couldn't have found and killed the cop this fast, unless they had some sort of day role cop.
MagPiesRUs Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Hm, so much pinging my scumdar here. Glad that "you guys" were right, not "we the town"? I'm almost certain there's at least one scum aboard that bandwagon, but whether or not there's two I'm not quite sure. If there was two, however, I'd expect them to distance themselves from each other like this. Do you think there's still a possibility Sarah is scum? I'm inclined to believe she's town at this point. When are people going to learn patience around here? Every game there's quick claims to people who should not be fully trusted yet. Agreed, it seems highly unlikely the scum could have found the cop at this point. Shirley certainly wasn't the cop, and I'm guessing she was the scum kill after she helped lead the lynch on Brian. To me, Shirley seems like a clear anti-town kill (scum or SK), Carl seems like an anti-scum kill (vig or SK) and Katherine is somewhere in the middle, and could have been killed by anyone. What does everyone else think?
JackJonespaw Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 To me, Shirley seems like a clear anti-town kill (scum or SK), Carl seems like an anti-scum kill (vig or SK) and Katherine is somewhere in the middle, and could have been killed by anyone. What does everyone else think? This makes sense, to me. Carl and Katherine were both on the Brian bandwagon, but so were the rest of us, pretty much, so that tells us pretty much nothing. Most likely an unlucky vig kill, choosing a random person to kill, hoping for scum; and a SK chipping away at our numbers. Also, I should probably mention that someone came to me claiming to be the cop at some point after Day One. I'm not entirely sure why they did this, but I'm inclined to believe them unless someone else can prove otherwise. Odd move... Only because you claimed town yesterday, right? Still, though..I wouldn't say the smartest move on their part, no offense, but it's still too early to completely trust anyone here.
Sandy Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 So are you still leaning towards me being scum? Even after Brian turned out a Milano? Because if you think we're both scum, I would have thought you'd be a little suspicious of whoever tried to shift the vote to Sarah... Brian was focused on Brian until Irene and Eric brought up Sarah. And at the time of your vote, Brian had 4 votes and Sarah had 2. So a Brian lynch was very much up for discussion. Obviously you're going to argue that you're town, but what do you think of Irene and Eric's votes for Sarah? That's not what I said at all, I simply said that if you are the watcher, you can watch me next night and see that I'm not a killer. I know your night action can't prove me townie, but perhaps your cop friend will. I sure hope so, so I'll get this itching target off my back and get it focused on the actual scum. By the time I voted, I counted three unreasoned votes against Brian and two against Sarah. I made a choice, which turned out to be wrong, but how was I supposed to know? After Irene's attack towards me just now, I can tell she seems awfully interested in placing the blame on me. Maybe she really tried to divert attention from Brian, then, knowing he was a fellow scum? Hm, so much pinging my scumdar here. I obviously was speaking about the people who lynched Brian, duh! I can't take credit for that, and neither can you! Like I repeatedly said yesterday, I had no way of knowing who is scum and who is not on Day One. Are you accusing me for not being clairvoyant? Why wouldn't a townie want to get tracked, to prove he is innocent? Especially when people are suddenly attacking him for no reason? It's not like I even defended Brian yesterday, I was just one of the "unlucky" people who guessed "wrong" with their vote. Besides, Sarah's jury is still out there, remember? Nothing has made her less suspicious than she was yesterday, after all.

Sandy Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Except that she's contributing more and not lurking like she was? That was your reason, after all, so what's the problem now? Okay, I give you that. But just because you've posted more and made a list of votes, you're not automatically town in my eyes. My point was that even though I did not vote for Brian, I did not necessarily vote "wrong" yesterday. I'm still not clairvoyant, that's not one of the perks I get from my union.
