Al said the cop had investigated you as scum. We've determined that is a lie, but why didn't you say anything when you "knew" it was untrue that you had been investigated as scum? If a townie is investigated as scum, the most likely reason is that a framer is involved (or he is a miller). But you didn't say anything then. I know if someone investigated me as scum I'd be all over the "it must be a framer" or "the cop is unreliable" rather than clamming up and accusing the messenger of lying.

And now you've got a cock-and-bull story about a watcher and a redirector. To be honest, it seems simpler that you were seen actually targeting Shirley and that you are the scum killer.

But on to the question of why you knew it was impossible that someone should have investigated you as scum. Are you the godfather?

By the end of the day most of the town had decided that Irene was their best bet.

"You're so scummy!" Al declared. "I bet you don't even wash your clothes!"

"This is ridiculous! I'm completely innocent! I haven't even done anything!"

But the town ignored her and began to close in.

"Well screw this! If they're not going to listen then I'm getting out of here! An innocent girl like me doesn't last well in prison!"

"Get her!" someone yelled.

The town, accompanied by a blurry cop, all started to chase after Irene.

"Don't let her get away!"

But at that moment, the garage door to the fire brigade burst open, and Irene drove out in the fire engine.

"This entire process is stupid! Seriously, what happened to innocent before proven guilty?!"

But Irene forgot to put gas into the fire engine and quickly her escape was thwarted.

"Aw crap." she said.
