Richard Dower Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 WTF?....i have seen two Ebay webstore have these panels (brand new) listed for sale at €59.99 and €39.99 (for the #5 + #6 Yellow panel). Another store had them for €17.99 for the 5+6 panels....WHY are these panels soooo expensive?? https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=64681&colorID=3&in=A https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=64393&colorID=3&in=A Its making it very hard for people who want to build old Technic sets long sold out buy buying in the parts...sucks! Anio Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 It is a very common part in the Technic line in a common color. It will be widely available someday. Just like panel 5x11 red which was expensive because of 8258. Now it is in 42029, and you can buy more or less as much as you want to the Lego customer service. It is just a matter of time... Quote
Richard Dower Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 I hope so....i hope we get more sets using these Yellow panels to stop the speculators and price gougers! Quote
bj51 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Lego still makes them: there were about 12 of each in a 30kg box of parts given by Lego for an event a few weeks ago. Quote
gti180 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 its bordering on robbery!! if you think a price is too high just don't buy, that way the seller is stuck with parts he/she cant sell then the price comes down. Almost every Lego part has an alternative anyway! Quote
dr_spock Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 You could build the old Technic set in a different color if you can't obtain parts in the original color for a price you are willing to pay. Quote
Saberwing40k Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Yeah, just because somebody is charging insane prices on evilbay does not mean that's actually what the thing is worth. I've personally seen somebody charging a $1.50 for bog standard 2l friction pins. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Such is life. There are many examples of this (red #3 connectors - crazy prices). Compensation (building in other colors, using liftarms to build a panel) is a technique that every frugal collector/builder needs to get used to. My favorite is using third party RC tires for large trucks instead of power puller tires. I think third party tires are so so so much better, and I can get them for half the price of PP tires. Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Hmmmm, lets see,... I have 12 of each, that's 24 x 60 € = ... - yes, I'm rich, now only to find an idiot to throw away so much money for them Lego still makes them: there were about 12 of each in a 30kg box of parts given by Lego for an event a few weeks ago. I don't know if they actually still make them - but its true: Sealed bags from 8043 with those panels in'em are given as LUG support for certain events. I guess those are leftovers from 8043 production line. Edited May 20, 2015 by MajklSpajkl Quote
sm1995 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I know! This sucks because I was planning on building a yellow supercar but now I have to go with red or white because these prices are insane. Quote

Don't be fooled... Red and White also have their rare and crazy expensive parts as well... just an example:http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=1&itemID=530 http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=5&itemID=559 Quote
Meatman Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Holy cow. I never knew those panels had gotten that expensive. Quote
