Posted May 22, 20159 yr Commander Turtle, Operative Q here. When you are done delivering those tanks, there are more ready for you. (This is my first LDD MOC, so please be gentle. :) EDIT: I've now uploaded the complete rendered picture. More pics below.) Awsomnium Drilling Station The full model in LDD, including base. The idea is that the rig simultaneously drills and sucks from the well, thereby necessitating the big engine. The resulting fluid is filtered and separated in the tank in the middle, where the filtered fluid is continued being pumped upwards, while the "slag" is returned to the well. May 22, 20159 yr "Excellent. We are approaching slightly ahead of schedule, expected arrival time is 0945!" Great rig, good and industrial. I'm also flattered about the links to my build :D
May 22, 20159 yr Author "Copy that, over." Thank you. :) Well, you're the the one who got me here in the end, plus basically the first thing I thought of when I saw your ships was how nice it would be with a drilling rig to go with them. Though, conforming with your design did make those tanks very high. ;) I have to admit though, I feel I got a bit lazy toward the end. The time was like 4 AM when I came to the living area, so I didn't really feel I had the strength to build an interior for it. :P In the end though, I feel satisfied with it, being my first LDD build (and not really having any clue how to work with LDD. :P).
May 22, 20159 yr What a nice rig!!! Wonderful for a first LDD. Now the only thing to do is make sure your sigfig will be enbedded somewhere. The rig can't function on it's own. I'll discuss with Bob on the timing of your post... think you are just in time. The judges decided to make an exception once...
May 22, 20159 yr Author Thank you, sir! With all due respect, sir, I could make a revised version which include a couple of minifigures, but in all honesty, these rigs are designed to run without minifig intervention (the housing part is for the control room and for maintenance crew to stay in when they come by). Also, sir, my sigfig is the engineer designing and overseeing the building of these, so it really wouldn't make sense with him being there at all. Also, thank you for checking. I spent so much energy on getting this done in time, it would suck if I didn't just because I spent too much time figuring out how to make the Spoiler-tag. :P
May 22, 20159 yr Good work lad, keep it up and make Kawashita proud. When you have enough posts, I'll add you to our PM group for further instructions. Also don't forget to put a face to your name, we like to see who we're dealing with. A 100x100 picture will be sufficient.
May 22, 20159 yr Author I am terribly sorry sir, I thought I needed 10 posts before changing my profile picture (I actually posted it here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98049&st=275#entry2222851 yesterday)! I have now corrected this mistake, and hope that you can have some oversight with me being new to Eurobricks (at least as a member), sir.
May 22, 20159 yr Another great digital build! I really like how you made this fit along with Commander Turtle's build.
May 22, 20159 yr Author Thank you, Mister S! I'll probably continue using LDD quite a lot in the future, since I do not currently have the amounts of dark red bricks required for large buildings (which I like building). Hopefully my future builds will be better, since this was my first time using LDD, and I only had a few hours until deadline. :)
May 22, 20159 yr This is great, it really looks like a proper industrial functioning bit of kit, and it's nice to link it in to Commander Turtle's build like that. For a first LDD build, it's a cracker
May 22, 20159 yr Fantastic first LDD build. That would look great built in bricks! Love the story as well.
May 22, 20159 yr Author Thank you Robuku! *Bows* My Lady, it is an honour to finally be in your presence. Your kind words are like music to my ears.
May 22, 20159 yr This is a great looking rig! I also love how you incorporated Commander Turtle's tankers into your build.
May 24, 20159 yr Great link with Commander Turtle's build, and nice job on the rendering - makes it much easier to appreciate all the nice features of the build, which are most of it!
