Looking to build a long high speed. I thinking of getting two of the 60051s. This will obviously get me one extra car, and I'm pretty sure a second car, but I'm wondering how many additional bricks I'd need to squeeze out a third car. Is it a small amount, or am I just better off sticking with the two extra cars.

Thx

I think it is worth the 3rd car for the long train. The easy thing might be to strip the nose pieces off the end cars of the 2nd set and then add the pieces to make the side and roof and diaphram. You'll need at least 2 magnetic couplers. Also some pieces for the undercarriage. You also have option to turn them into dinner car or baggage/coach car, etc.

Thanks Spock. I've spend the evening looking at a PDF of the instructions, and building out the third car won't need a lot of parts, and none of them are rare / unusual.

Will one PF motor in the front be sufficient, or should I use the second motor in the rear engine, and tie it into the same PF control channel. I'm thinking two motors will be needed.

I have plans on my Bricklink store for one.

My white train has 6 normal and 1 sleeper and 2 trains. Running 1 motor but it does need 2.

ahh its not on my store I will get it up when I get home from work.

I just opened my two 60051's today. I built the first set normal, and with the second set I was able to build the middle car and a second middle car using parts form the front and rear train engines. I only needed a few common pieces from my collection to complete the build I think 2 plates and 2 tiles.

I'm pretty sure this is all I needed:

2x - White Plate 1 x 3

2 or 4x - White Tile, Modified 1 x 2 Grille with Bottom Groove / Lip (could use 1x2 plate)

2x - 1x8 White Brick (could use Dark bley or another color)

2x - Dark Bluish Gray Brick, Arch 1 x 4 (used 2x 2x4 brick instead)
