Nice job to my fellow townies!

My role was particularly weird, and I'm honestly surprised TPRU believed it, as well as glad that Bob made last minute adjustments that made me town rather than scum.

Thanks for hosting Bob, it was a lot of fun.

I'd be interested to see your role PM. Were you some kind of prankster, or a joke role, or what?

It was a total joke role that I included just because the idea amused me.

Linda Cook

Welcome to Main Street Mafia! In this game of wits and intrigue, you are playing Linda Cook. You own the Palace Cinema in Cedar Falls. You are unmarried, having never found a husband due to your years in Hollywood as a B-list movie star struggling to survive by taking roles in awful movies that people love to laugh at. Only you remember what movies you used to star in.

You are the town puncher! Every night, you can select one player to punch in the face. This will have no effect upon them whatsoever. They will be notified they have been punched, however. If you're tracked or watched, it will appear that you did not commit an action. Please let me know whom you wish to punch within 24 hours of the end of the day.

And now for some commentary and whatnot. Some will be longer than others.

Comments: You played your part rather well. I'm not privy to what happened behind the scenes, but it appears you were working with others and you were doing a good job in thread.

Dragonfire

Comments: You were sort of around for half the game, so I guess it's good you were vanilla. There could have been some problems if you were scum or a power role. Regardless you were quite perceptive.

Shadows

Comments: I don't think you'll ever last longer then a day or two in mafia games nowadays. Everything that you say is usually put under a microscope and each word is dissected. I mean, what you said was a bit pingy and it appeared you were jumping onto a bandwagon that barely started, but I don't think you could have saved yourself because there was no way to defend yourself against baseless accusations.

wandabarnes.jpg.png

Piratedave84

Comments: You protected TPRU pretty much every night, which was smart but nobody went after him anyway so I guess it was an alright precaution.

ericfoster.jpg.png

Comments: People keep calling you scum. Even after you were cleared as town people thought you were scum. I didn't see it as much, but at least you were vanilla.

StickFig

Comments: I don't think you were even suspected until you were blocked, which is a shame because you were doing really well up until that point. If JJP hadn't blocked you I think it would have been a different Day Four, but that's just my observations. I don't know what was happening behind the scenes or what others were thinking. Good job regardless though!

Comments: You appeared pro-town, but you didn't really have to do much of anything except not get voted out. As I said, in retrospect I'd change your conditions, but it's too late now. I did love your poetry though. I do swear it was a complete coincidence that you were the serial killer in another one of my games.

Comments: Just when you get back into mafia you're killed on night one. I didn't really notice much on Day One though.

Comments: I already mentioned that targeting def was a bad idea, so you know that one already. I sort of gave you feedback already, but metagaming is always a bad idea.

Comments: You never got targeted at night, but you were still a strong presence in game trying to presumably lure scum to target you.

Comments: The star of the game I think, your move on Day Two had to have been the ballsiest move I've seen in awhile. MT came to me asking what the deal was since he was the godfather and should have come back as town. Amazing job coming back from a bandwagon to leading the town to victory.

Comments: I loved your action so much. I contemplated telling all players that they could submit a random action, but it would've been too much. Nevertheless, I was sad when you died.

Comments: You weren't really around too much, I even mentioned I was thinking of modkilling you. I wish you could've been more active.

shirleycarter.jpg.png

Comments: You were killed off really early by metagaming, but hey, it happens. It screwed over the scum in the end since TPRU watched you and saw MT kill you, so even in your death you helped the town.

russellprice.jpg.png

Sandy

Comments: Welcome back to mafia! Mostlytechnic's lynch screwed you over big time, and you tried valiantly to save yourself, but it was to no avail. I hope you stay around and keep playing though.

gregmchenry.jpg.png

Lady K

Comments: Everyone thinks you're scum every game. I even thought you defected to the scum team somehow. You targeted def on night one to determine his alignment in the hopes of presumably start another townblock. You should've targeted somebody random ideally.

I'll second that TPRU's scum-claim on me was well played. The fact that you did it as an investigation result instead of the true watcher result threw me bad. Yep, I PM'd bob asking if something screwed up and I panicked in my response. If you'd come out with the truth, I'd have handled it better and had a chance (a slight one, but a chance) of saving myself. As it was, I knew you were lying for some reason but that then distracted me into attacking you as much as defending myself.

Posted

I contemplated protecting someone else than TPRU but I offered once and he asked twice so I did. Since I was not in the block PM (if there was one) and sort of outside the block I felt it was the town's best bet to protect TPRU on all nights. I'm puzzled as to why scum did not target him; for fear of being blocked/watched? Had I been scum I would have killed him on night 3.

Also I wanted to be more active but last time I was a PR, I did not know how to handle myself and got killed early on so I was scared for a repeat and instead stayed mostly on the sideline which served to put me on the radar as this is generaly scummy behaviour ....

Posted

Bob, you're right. I did try to be proactive to get someone to activate my trap, but to no avail.

I could be wrong, but if you know you're the Paranoid Gun Owner, it's almost always worth telling everyone.

I should know, I killed two good towny PRs in my first and last stint as the Paranoid Axe Owner. :sadnew:

Yeah, I appeared Pro-Town because I pretty much was. I wanted to make a big show of it day 1 to ensure I was beyond reproach later on, and then it became actually real.

Oh, and if anyone's curious, here are the two poems I devised:

1.

*sips from a glass of a fine Chianti*

Tonight is a good night methinks

For merriment and sausage links

But someone won't try it

'Cause she's on a diet

And being a vegan, she stinks

I drink the wine in front of me

no prohibition for E. B.

I'll slice through Jluck's neck

and the town will say "Heck!"

but I'll get away off Scott free!

(Before you judge, note that I'm a vegetarian irl  )

2.

While the cat's away the mice will play

But soon this dog will have his day

It's such a pity that Ace, poor kitty

will soon be absent from my city.

The young detective's a tad defective

but still refused to be lynched elective

Behind the scenes, a neutral means

I'll serve his liver with Fava beans!

Well, that's two different ways to play it. jamesn's way of trying to draw a scum kill is tough - basically gotta be SO townie and forward that they want you dead without drawing the vig/SK. I think I'd be highly temped to take the easier route and claim it pretty quickly.

Any thoughts on my day 1 play? Since I was godfather I was hoping to draw an investigation by being even more talkative than normal... but that's obviously a long shot since I'm just 1 of 18 players.

Posted

Thanks, guys! It was fun playing again after a long while, although crazy challenging at the same time! Sorry you had to put up with my incessant ramblings, I tend to resort to that when I am under a threat.

I apologise if this is the wrong place to ask, but will there be a mafia school soon? I'm really keen to play. Thanks in advance.

You looked pretty towny, but I had a funny feeling about you since I've never played with town-you and I'm always a bit wary of people who are really convincing when they're scum.

You probably shouldn't have voted for JJP, though. That messed things up for Sandy big-time, and you too to some extent. But well played! :classic:

Always good to have some new faces wanting to play! I'm not sure if there will be one soon, but maybe others are planning something...?

Eric Foster

Welcome to Main Street Mafia! In this game of wits and intrigue, you are playing Eric Foster, the co-owner of Chez Albert, a French restaurant in Cedar Falls. You opened this restaurant despite having absolutely no knowledge about operating it or managing it. Regardless, you run it quite well anyway because business is booming. You run it with your wife, Ann. You employ both Eugene Bryant, a chef, and Carl Hill, a waiter.

You are a vanilla player. You have no night actions.

Palathadric

Comments: People keep calling you scum. Even after you were cleared as town people thought you were scum. I didn't see it as much, but at least you were vanilla.

Yeah, I think people couldn't get over my Day 1 vote on JJP. I never feel comfortable voting someone like Shadows out on Day 1, but perhaps I should be. :sceptic:

I thought I was reasonably active on Days one and two and even three to some extent, but seeing so many of my suspects turning up town and MT turning up scum really threw me for a loop. I still don't know why I took so long to vote for Sandy on Day 3. I can't recall what was going through my head at the time.

I still thought it was funny that so many people voted for me instead of him at the time, but maybe I really was that suspicious.

In any case, I need to work on not putting myself into these uncomfortable positions so much, though I'm not sure how to do that.

I guess perhaps I overthink things or say more than's necessary for small things. :shrug_confused:

I would certainly appreciate any advice on how I can be a better player. :sweet:

Yea, speaking of which, why did you up and vote for me all of a sudden? Did you see Brian as town and me as scum? I guess it was just a coincidence that you and MT voted for me at near the same time.

Very funny actually, did you write this up as you were sending in the night action?

Haha, yeah, it'it's kind of an inside joke between Bob and myself because my very first game where i was also the SK, I started doing this, and it just kinda stuck. I do this regardless of my role now.

Yup, the bolded name is meant to indicate the recipient of my action. I never even said "target x." I just sent Bob poems.

Of course the metaphor in the last poem indicates that Ace is scum, which, unfortunately was not the case. Sad to see a metaphor wasted. :cry_sad:

I wasn't convinced of your scumminess entirely, but you certainly didn't do anything to make me change my mind later on. I did find your lack of commitment scummy. I did not see Shadows as particularly scummy until later (and as I said I always feel nervous about voting him out on Day 1) and then there was no point in switching. I would have switched if it were necessary to secure his lynch though.

It was purely coincidence that MT and I voted for you at the same time as we had no conversation going behind the scenes whatsoever.

I think I mentioned in the game already, but I was somewhat annoyed to see MT's post after I lodged mine, because I knew that it was frighteningly suspicious and that it would probably ensure Shadows' lynch, since everyone would be quick to point out that we were probably in cahoots in trying to start a new lynch. When Shadows flipped scum, it was even more damning for me, obviously.

Since I knew that my suggesting you as a lynch target was completely because I thought you were more scummy than Shadows, I found it reasonable to believe that MT thought the same way, which was why I didn't let up on you right away (completely ignoring the fact that you were completely scummy. ). Sandy I was inclined to be more suspicious of because he had already been quick to jump on my TPRU vote and then there was also his desire to not switch from TPRU to Shadows, but to jump on you as soon as you were brought up. When Shadows was found to be scum, it convinced me even more that he was too.

I had to go back to the old Prohibition Mafia Conclusion  to find his older poems:

(Night Action against Ricecracker; later changed to JCC1004)

I got a bone to pick with the fellow with the knife

so Ima sneak up behind and end his life

and win the game, unless I die tonight!

(Night Action against Quarryman, it was tails, so he didn't do it.)

I'm the Nuetral Night Killer, here me rawr

Imma kill the Hobo who sleeps by my door

Kill; Ryan Alberts (Hobo)/Quarryman

(Night Action against the mailman (I forgot who played him))

He's got a letter, I think that it's mine

and when he delivers I'll shoot out his spine!

Please don't go back and look at that game. Please for the love of god don't look at it. The only good part was the 13 year old mafia boss played by Shadows, but everything else was quite possibly terrible.

Just wondering, Bob, when you host, do you give out roles to the characters and then assign them to players.

I didn't think that was usually done, but you said that TK's character was originally supposed to be scum or something like that.

I've kicked around the same feeling before, it doesn't matter if I'm scum or town, I'm pretty much going to get slammed early. In this case, I knew that even switching my vote would look scummy at that point, so I sort of just resigned myself to it. If I had even suspected that the town would magically hit a scum every day, I might have fought a bit harder to stir up some confusion first.

There's something about you and sweeps, Bob. Speaking of which ...

Quarry was the best lynch we forced, based on him having a bottle of wine in the pictures in a game about prohibition. "He has booze, he must be scum!"

That was an awesome game, everyone was reporting to me, I was using their info to convince others that I was town, they were going along with everything we said. And, of course, two words ... National Guard!

Love ya Bob, thanks for always hosting Bob games, don't ever let that change.

Oh gods. That was back when I said "imma" unironically. Oof. Man that was long ago!

that was a great game though! I liked the part where I won! I don't think I ever told Shadows this, but when he approached me the last night, my very first instinct was to kill him! Thankfully I changed my mind and followed his plan instead! Everything always seems to work out when you obey Shadows!
