Umbra-Manis Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I don't "seam" to understand. Literally. Using the Mod? Unpack the zip Cut, copy however you want. Move them into the smae folder you run bluerender out of. Let it overwrite any files it wants to. Then run Bluerender as usual. Quote

Umbra-Manis Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 No, what is it? It looks the same. Without the mod, you can't see any spaces between bricks of the same color, like the hood of your car. It also lets you do some other stuff as detailed in bublible's topic. Quote

Just go to that topic of mine that Umbra-Manis gave you: all is there well written in full detail, just read, read and read... Among other things you will also get logo-on-studs, proper rubber material, proper metallic materials, slope brick grains, custom decors, replacable LDD decors, brick seams and much more! shannanigan Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Bluerender is amazing... I like how simple and fast it is! This may help to tell the differences with the SlowFlow MOD... I did a comparison image of a little house I designed in LDD. The MOD adds faint lines, LEGO logos on studs, clearer "glass" and brightens up transparent pieces (among lots of other things!) It adds a bit more detail to help with the realism of the rendering. Edited January 10, 2016 by shannanigan Quote
LegoFjotten Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 For those having problems getting it to run on Mac: I just installed on BlueRender on a second Mac running Yosemite. What I did instead of uninstalling Java / installing the Java JRE via Homebrew I just installed the Java JDK directly from Oracle: here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html (Installing the JRE did not work on my system, not sure why, it seemed like it didn't register with the OS, I couldn't run the Java command from the terminal) Just follow the rest of the instructions from the first post in this thread and you should be good to go. not-in-use-anymore Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm a new/returning-after-several-years member of this site, and I'm having some issues getting Bluerender to work. I had been able to use it on my previous computer, running Windows 7, but it was at the end of its life and I had to get a new computer running Windows 10. I transferred my files over to the new computer, installed Java 8 and LDD, but when I try to launch Bluerender I get this error screen: http://i.imgur.com/FYEA29x.png I had tried to fix this on my own by uninstalling and reinstalling both LDD and Bluerender, but I continued to get the error message. I looked in the folder where I had installed LDD, and I can't find the database file where the wiki says it should be. At one point, Bluerender prompted me to locate where the db.lif file was, and not finding it anywhere, I mistakenly clicked on the Assets.lif. I've continued to get the earlier error screen since then, and I'm worried I messed myself up at some point along the way. I tried checking the FAQs and reading through some of this topic, but I didn't find anything describing my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
greenmtvince Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Just discovered this software today and it's fantastic for sharing digital designs! I have one small issue I could use some help with: This is the resultant output of one of my steam locomotives using the default scene settings. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for scene file settings I could use to perhaps bring out more of the details in this all black locomotive. Quote

I know it's possible to bundle jar with a JRE in a "native" OSX App. Would be way easier. I'll try to setup a VM on my Mac for some tests. I had tried to fix this on my own by uninstalling and reinstalling both LDD and Bluerender, but I continued to get the error message. If you specified the wrong database file, you could manually edit the configuration files. Should be a hidden file called ".bluerender.ini" in your home folder. Open with notepad and edit the line starting with "db.location" Edited January 14, 2016 by Malou Quote
M2m Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) I just registered to share how to get this running with Java from Oracle on Mac (10.11 tested): Get the Java Runtime Environment for OSX on http://www.oracle.co...oads/index.html Install it In your terminal, type: export JAVA_HOME="/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home" java -version now gives you java version for ex. "1.8.0_66" That's the cleanest way I found to install the latest JRE. You can add the export JAVA_HOME line in your .bashrc to have java permanently in your Terminal: echo export JAVA_HOME=\"/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home\" >> ~/.bashrc Now enter the following command: java -cp "bin/*" bluerender.BlueRender Below example was rendered on OSX: Edited January 14, 2016 by M2m Quote
Malou Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) @M2m might be coincidence. Didn't worked on my freshly installed 10.11 VM... Or I'm the coincidence lol. I believe if I find out why it doesn't work on the VM, I might be able to bundle it in a native OS X application... Tests-Mac:Bluerender0005 test$ java -cp "bin/*" bluerender.BlueRender # # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x0000000000000000, pid=1149, tid=18179 # # JRE version: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (8.0_66-b17) (build 1.8.0_66-b17) # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (25.66-b17 mixed mode bsd-amd64 compressed oops) # Problematic frame: # C 0x0000000000000000 # # Failed to write core dump. M2m Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 @Malou: try to close LDD, before starting bluerender. Otherwise LDD may block some critical resource files. Quote
Malou Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) @Malou: try to close LDD, before starting bluerender. Otherwise LDD may block some critical resource files. No that's not it. EDIT: Must be something wrong with OSX. Doesn't work with Homebrew either. EDIT 2: Mac users can test this. It does work on my Macbook and iMac, but not on freshly installed El Capitan virtual machine using Parallels. Let let know if it work for you or not. It's quite heavy because it include the necessary java JRE. http://dl.bbqsoftwares.com/LDD/Bluerender.zip Edited February 13, 2016 by Malou Quote
M2m Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Is Java in general working on the VM ? Maybe an issue with Java & Parallels ? Quote
