I really liked this episode. It was actually creepy, which, as an adult, I rarely get anymore.

When I was a kid I hated Dr. Who. My older brother watched it on PBS, and everything about it scared the shit out of me; the music, the Britain-quality filming, and everything that happened in it. Anyway, when I revisited it, it was rather camp, so I'm enjoying seeing an episode that walks that fine line between camp and suspense.

I've liked every episode of this series more than the last, so I may just make it through the season!

I didn't watch the episode, thank goodness. The Angels are too creepy and scary for me. :cry_sad:

I'll read the episode summary on the internet because I still want to know what happened though.

What are you, six?

The Weeping Angels are creepy, I admit, but they're not exactly the type of monsters to "haunt your nightmares for the rest of your life" - especially in this latest episode, where they overexplained them. It's always better to have some sort of aura of mystery around monsters rather than to know exactly how they behave and why - that just makes them all the more scarier.

"Time of Angels" was not a bad episode at all, I really like River Song (even though I'm utterly confused about the timeline of her relationship with the Doctor), and it was funny how the Church has "advanced" to have a military organization within it. But as I said, they unfortunately made the Weeping Angels a whole less scary with all the exposition. Their first appearance in "Blink" was just so haunting that I kinda knew they couldn't exceed that in this episode, though.

This is a two-part serial, anyway, so I'll wait for the next episode before I judge the storyarch completely.

Just saw the beast below and it was pretty excellent! The whole starwhale thing was interesting and at first I thought might be a bit contrived but I actually really liked it. The smilers were pretty awesome even if they did'nt do as much as I expected them to do. There was many great bits to it and lines like when they meet Liz 10

I really loved this dialogue a lot!

"Before I tell you, just try to stay calm. Say oooommmmm or something"-doctor

"ooooooommm."-Pond

"It's a tongue, a great big tongue!"-Doctor

"Wer'e in a mouth?"-Pond

"Yes but on the plus side it's roomy!"-doctor

I think next week's episode looks really good and i'm really looking forward to the return of the daleks. To be honest i never expected it to be much more then a genesis episode for the new design sothat won't deter my opinion of it later on.

Reading an episode summary is nothing compared to watching the real thing.

It's like reading the script of a film, it's not the same. Just watch it on i-player during the day when it shouldn't scare you much.

Did anyone else notice the two heads thing before the doctor? Or was I just so on edge that I noticed everything?

The first couple of episodes are always dodgy 'Doctor finds new assistant', 'takes to future'/'takes to past' (order may vary), 'have chat about Time War', and then they get to the good bits! Judging from Time of Angels, we're at the good bits! It was creepy, without being scary, especially when that guy's subconscious was taunting the Doctor, And when it was revealed the statues were wearing perception filters (guess the neverous guy was right, it was looking at him!)

I didn't, but on the other hand I didn't really understand that they were talking about the native inhabitants before they realized that the statues had only one head. However, I guessed the statues would spring to life way before that.

That reminded me of the library episode in Season 4 in which River Song first appeared, maybe too much so. Seeing so many plot-devices recycled was a little off-putting for me.

He is fond of mind after death, an interesting SF concept.

I certainly found it creepy. I didn't think they were over explained, just the added scary of their"getting in your head" (I was freaked by all the sand from Amy's eye... but i have a huge thing about getting a lot of stuff in my eye) and the whole image becomes them bit was equally scary. Clever, winking each eye instead of a blink. The deformed ones were just as scary, and always the flickering lights.

I hope the next one is as good.

Yeah, me too. My theory is that it all happened while The Doctor was avoiding Ood Sigma (Between 'The Waters Of Mars' and 'The End Of Time Part 1')

Ooh! I did! Of course rather than realize they were all Angels, I chalked it up to cheap set decoration...

I'm in the US. The one with the Daleks and Winston Churchill hasn't even aired yet.

But I did see the "Next Time" trailer for the second part of the Weeping Angels episode. Looks awesome. I can't wait. The Angels have always been my favorite enemy of the Doctor.

Awesome episode, I really think the Weeping Angels have the capability of becoming a good recurring foe for the Doctor. Not as recurring as the Daleks or Cybermen obviously, but probably Sontaran level. Amy is shaping up to be a great companion, her winking solution for the Angels was great. The explanation of the Angels image was quite ingenious too considering I always wondered what happened if you set up a camera to tape an Angel and just watched it later.

Flesh and Stone looks to kick it out of the park though, Moffat is one good writer. And I'm so glad they'll be addressing the "crack in the wall" arc, looks like we underestimated how this will be dealt. Personally I'm just glad they aren't repeating a phrase over and over that eventually comes up in the finale and selling that off as a proper story arc (Hint: It isn't).

Batbrick Away!

Flesh ans Stone was much better than The Time of Angels. It was actually scary with the angels appearing everywhere.

Also the showing the angels turning was a great addition.

Overall great episode. But we didn't see any other Tardis rooms next.

What did you think of this episode? The next 'Vampires In Venice' looks good.

I think the episode looks very promising. I cant help thinking we have seen them before though. 7th Doctor era maybe?

I love Amy Pond... The doctor is a fool for not taking that opportunity!

Great episode, though for me I felt like the previous episode was slightly better. So far the best moment of the series so far has been the reveal of the decaying statues actually being Weeping Angels!

Also, I look forward to seeing the Doctor eventually being killed (then likely an excuse for a regeneration) by River Song.

Flesh and Stone was a great episode.

It was nice that the crack in the wall was addressed instead of just reappearing at the end of every episode as in the last few series.

Definitely suprised by the weeping angels moving after seeing them stand still all the time.

Not as good as last weeks episode but good none the less.

It was better than RTD's "here are some words you won't notice OH SNAP TURNS OUT THEY'RE IMPORTANT".

.

I'd glad he didn't actually, the whole Rose and doctor 4eva in season 2 was ugh, and he spent most of season 3 whining about how he missed ruh-ruh-ruh rose

I thought so as well, but thinking about it it seems a bit too obvious

I'm sure Amy was just after a no-nonsense quickie!

Is anything really too obvious for Doctor Who? Remember the Torchwood and Mr. Saxon story-arcs?

Yes but that was RTD, who gave us such 'gems' as paving slab blowjobs, 'clap your hands if you believe in the doctor' ending to a really good 3 parter, like 90% of journeys end and the 'I have time to cheat on the lottery and attend a book signing before I regenerate' scene

NOTE: I love most of RTD's scripts and I owe him loads for bringing the show back, but he has written some terrible things.

True, the show could afford to be a lot more subtler now, under a new wing. It's certainly a bit more racier  .

I agree, there were lots of times when the show was to... feel-goody. :sceptic: I always laugh when I look back at the end of series 3 and think 'Yeah, like hope could ever save the Earth' .

I plucked up the courage and watched both episodes. Not as scary as 'Blink', but still creepy.

Was the Angel turning supposed to be how they look when they move, or something else?

EDIT: In the preview for the next episode the Doctor says the Vampires aren't Vampires. I was watching it with my dad and he said they are the Angels. :look: Can any of you see any connection?
