simonjedi Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Its not the other Glove. In "They Keep Killing Suzie", it is used to bring Suzie back to life. Jack reveals that the glove was recovered from Cardiff Bay 40 years prior, and theorises that whoever owned it wanted to be rid of it. Gwen is the only one with the degree of empathy required to operate the glove without Suzie. When the glove was used on Suzie by Gwen it worked the same way as before, keeping her alive for the allotted amount of time however, when Gwen felt her begin to slip away she tried to forcefully bring her back and suceeded... but at a price. Gwen's forced attempt to keep Suzie alive established a non physical connection between the two with Gwen's life force slowly draining from her into Suzie, healing Suzie and killing Gwen. She even began developing the same wound as Suzie, in the same place (i.e. gunshot wound in the back of the head) and would have caused Gwen's death if the Glove was not destroyed in time (which Tosh did by shooting it), thereby reviving Gwen and killing Suzie. Again. However, Ianto points out that "gloves come in pairs", implying that there may be another glove.[23] The second glove appears in the episode "Dead Man Walking" in which it is retrieved from St. Mary's church where the Weevils had established a colony. It is used to revive Owen Harper who had died from a gunshot wound in the previous episode. This glove appears to have the same powers, except Jack can use it unlike the first, implying that the glove works best on those the wearer is emotionally involved with. The power that brings Owen back to life however seems to imbue the glove with a mind of its own and during an attempt to embalm Owen, the glove attacks the team; mainly Martha Jones, who is aged by the assault. This glove was destroyed utterly by a shot from Owen (just as the first one was by Tosh) and was not seen or mentioned after in the episode. It is interesting to note that whilst the first Glove existed, Suzie could not be killed just as Owen couldn't. However, she showed the ability to heal – rapidly – and after her Glove was destroyed she died. Owen, however, never healed after resuscitation and continued to live after his Glove was destroyed. ???theriddler??? Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I got yesterday the complete specials box set! It's awesome! Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) What a finale! Bit confusing, some loose ends I suppose, but emotionally perfect. I was afraid there was no better way to bring everyone back than in The Stolen Earth / Journey's End, but this was great. Such a painful yet beautiful idea to have Ten try and find out whether Joan Redfern had been happy. And how stirring to let Ten give Donna a present from her dad, who couldn't be there. Geoff Noble actor Howard Attfield had actually died during the making of series 4 - this little scene had me reduced to tears! The Davies / Collinson / Gardner / Tennant era is over, then. Blimey. It's been great. Sad to see them all go, but we've got Moffat / Wenger / Smith to look forward to. That should be good too! But because I just can't say goodbye to Ten yet (he really could've done so much more), I'm starting work on a small stop-motion Lego animation adventure for the Tenth Doctor. Oh, and simonjedi - fabulous moving profile picture! Wonderful chaps, all of them. Edited January 17, 2010 by Mr Spielbrick Quote

Batbrick Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Torcwood has been confirmed in America to be in the works for Fox. Link It is unkown wheter or not if Gwen and any other surviving members of the last four Torchwood series will return. I give it 3 episodes before it bombs due to "translation". What is it with American programmes? Do they think their nation is stupid and can't handle an accent or something? Grief! Bombed with Red Dwarf, bombed with Kath and Kim, bombed with Fawlty Towers, bombed with Spaced, sucked with Life on Mars and it'll do the same with tihs. Calling it. Grrr. Batbrick Away! Quote
toatali Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I am NOT watching those damn Angels again. I wish they would just forget about them. They really scare me... Mrs Evangelista scares me btw nobody post a pic of her please Quote

hewkii9 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Three weeks until The Eleventh Hour! Can't wait! Five weeks until Daleks, then? Quote
simonjedi Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Five weeks until Daleks, then? Unless there's a football match or some national crisis then yes. Quote
hewkii9 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Unless there's a football match or some national crisis then yes. The real national crisis would be 7 million Who fans revolting if they don't get their long-awaited series Quote
simonjedi Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 It was a press screening of the first episode least night and here's an interview with Matt and Karen, Plus 30 seconds of episode footage: Even though Matt Smith's face changes shape every time I see him, I like him more everytime i see him. ???theriddler??? Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Good opening of the series. The music is a bit weird. Matt Smith is a good doctor! Quote
Eskallon Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I liked it a little, he will probably grow on me though. The next time trailer thing looked really good. Quote
RoryoCox Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I loved the opening episode. Brilliant with a fast pace and funny. BUT I am not sure on the opening titles. Quote
Sandy Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Loved to see the Doctor back in action, with a new face and a whole new look-out on things! No more carrying the burden of the whole existence on his shoulder like the Tenth Doctor, Matt Smith's version knows how awesome he is. I really like Amy Pond, too. I genuinely felt for her after she was left waiting for so long, and her obsession with the Doctor really sets her apart from the earlier companions. Really looking forward to seeing all the adventures these two get in on! Quote
simonjedi Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 No more carrying the burden of the whole existence on his shoulder like the Tenth Doctor, Personally i'd say that description applies more to the Ninth doctor, he was the PTSD doctor. I loved the new episode, Matt will be a brilliant doctor. Quote
Forresto Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Sadly since we Americans get our episodes later then you people across the pond (lucky ) i'll have tow wait another two weeks and I can't wait. I did however find the theme on youtube so anyother american DW fans can here it I linked it, and embedded it. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> "> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">P.S: If i'm not supposed to embed videos (I do it rarely) I am very sorry and will edit it out Quote
Batbrick Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Loved almost every second of it! Fantastic to see the Doctor return to form, I was very much getting sick of seeing Ten's constant depression, as well as the lazy plot devices used to conclude so many stories (Seriously, The End of Time was so bad even I could have written it better). Moffat writes some damn good Doctor, and I love how unlike so many Who writers he actually uses the time travel aspects of his stories. I seem to be the only one to like the opening title, I love the slightly different start, not darker, but certainly ominous (If that makes sense). The Atraxi were fairly poor, and Prisoner Zero only became creepy in the second half, and DoctorVision should never be used again. But apart from that I was almost dropping F-Bombs to say "**** Yeah!" because it was so much fun, and I'm certainly not someone to swear. Great lines too, and with the new TARDIS it seems we'll be seeing more rooms! Batbrick Away! Quote
AwesomeStar Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Stellar. Simply stellar! Loved every minute of it - I never had any doubts about Matt Smith, and I was right not to. He was simply amazing, and my favourite Doctor yet (IMHO, David Tennant was quite good, but towards the end of his run he got rather stale and a bit too moody for me)! The lovely Karen Gilligan performed superbly, and in the words of new writer Steven Moffat, she was "clever, funny, witty and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it!". I found her to be the best companion yet and can't wait for more. The new title music is great, a lot fresher, as is the animation sequence. I also like the re-occuring strings tune throughout the episode, and hope that'll be available for download soon. Overall, a perfect debut for number 11! ~A.S. Quote
Batbrick Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 (IMHO, David Tennant was quite good, but towards the end of his run he got rather stale and a bit too moody for me)! Agreed, after a while he didn't really bring much to the role, though writing must be blamed for that, man I got sick of seeing that same damn shot of him sulking in the TARDIS. He was also too hammy. I like hams, but when they're the main character it poses a problem, a big one for Tennant who isn't exactly one for subtlety. Not that i dislike him, he was great, but given how bad the specials were I'd rather he'd stopped after Season 4. The lovely Karen Gilligan performed superbly, and in the words of new writer Steven Moffat, she was "clever, funny, witty and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it!". I found her to be the best companion yet and can't wait for more. She certainly got 10/10 on my "Sexy Accent Meter". Batbrick Away! Quote

Not that I consider her a bad companion, but you've only seen one episode with her, isn't it a bit too soon to judge? Donna Noble is the best companion yet in my eyes, and Amy Pond will have to give me twice over if she ever wants to beat her! Quote
FilmGirl27 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I like Doctor Who, it's okay. I haven't watched it since Martha was the companion though...how long ago was that? Lol. I did watch Sarah Jane Adventures though, it was cool. I've seen photos of the new Doctor and... ...I just can't imagine anyone in the role except David Tennant. He was the reason I watched it in the first place. I'm sorry but I'll never buy it. Tennant just is The Doctor, IMO. Quote
hewkii9 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Who da man! I really enjoyed that - the Atraxi were really cool, and while a bit derivative I enjoyed the Doctor montage. Also, DoctorVision should be used to conclude the plot of every other episode up until the end of Matt Smith's tenure. You're just blinded by the viles of a sexy young woman! Och, aye! Quote
