I was rather sad at poor old Rory getting erased from memory.................sorry, wait, who is Rory? *huh*

Anyway......next episode looks, very wishy washy. From what I could see it was a dragon. Oh gosh, and this changing history thing is back in play, AGAIN. It is a very clever idea etc. but it is being a tad overused, no?

A relativity good episode. It was nice to see two sides to the Surilians, with some seeming truly 'good'. Surprised at the loss of Rory, hhe was starting to warm on me. :sceptic: Oh, and after evaluating Amy's 'wardrobe', she's now my third favourite female character!

Next weeks looks good, I see Vincent will join Dickens, Queen Victoria, Shakespeare and Agatha Christie in the library of real world (one off) companions, though I would've thought they'd keep it to Churchill.

I thought it was a bit stupid that he reached in the crack in time and pulled out a piece of the TARDIS.

May I ask why?

What do you think? :classic:

I thought it was very good, an improvement over last weeks which was good but this one had a lot more interesting stuff in it. There was a drag in the middle though because of slow pacing. I hope never to see Chris Chibnalll as a writer again though, the man's insane! I like that it ended on a hopeful note (regarding the Silurians) since I was very, very worried they were gonna pull another damn "There entire species is gone!" shtick. oh, and RRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRYYYYYY! He was such a good character too! I'm hoping he'll return for the finale.

Wait, who was I talking about? Oh well :classic:

Wait killing off a companion? The last time they did that was
.

Russel T Davies kept threatening too with every freakin' person saying lines like "You will die" or "One will still die" for BOTH Rose and Donna....but didn't go through with either.

Well, given that the entire series is based on that concept, I'm gonna say........no.

Wait a second, if time can always be changed, where do the reapers from series 1 fit in? I swear they always appeared when time was changed. I'm sure I am missing something but still, I would of thought they would appear by now, or maybe the crack over powers them?

I can answer that with two different sentences:

1. The writers forgot about them.

2. The Reapers never existed.

No.1 is more likely but the thing about this crack is it is like a great big undo-button, unfortunately this messes with the continuity in a way that boggles my mind thinking about it:

Example 1: Rory never existed, ever. This causes a lot of things to change which the mind can't begin to comprehend. What happened in FaS at the end seeing as Amy wasn't engaged?

Example 2: No daleks attacking the Earth, really? That basically means that Herriot Jones survived. It also means that dalek cann would have never existed, which means he didn't over throw dalek sec in EotD, this also means he wasn't there in Doomsday.

As you can see this silly crack is very complicated and is making my head hurt. So back to your question, the only real way to understand everything without your brain exploding is to forget the consequences. To h**l with consequences! You should also forget everything that I've just said, is that a crack I see?

Yeah, also, surely Venice would be gone, Prisoner 0 still alive. Oh god its too confusing!

EDIT: though it does spice thins up a bit.

I actually really liked this episode. I loved the "negotiation" bit since I knew the perfect deal would be botched up eventually by both humane and "homo-reptilian" flaws.

As for Rory, I wouldn't write him off so soon if I were you. There's still the ring he failed to give to Amy, so I have a good hunch he'll return from the crack by the end of the season.

This is all just pure speculation, though, so don't blame me for spoiling it you if it turns out I was right.

Or the Reapers don't always turn up to these time mess-ups.

I think the crack removes stuff from time, but puts up certain 'supports' to keep the general line of events the same. It's like removing a brick from a wall, and putting in a metal support to keep the general functioning the same.

Example 2: No daleks attacking the Earth, really? That basically means that Herriot Jones survived. It also means that dalek cann would have never existed, which means he didn't over throw dalek sec in EotD, this also means he wasn't there in Doomsday.

That's assuming Caan was absorbed by the crack, though.

I think the mechanics of the crack will be covered in more detail later in the series.

Also, I reckon the crack absorbed both Rory and the Silurian that killed him. Which would mean that that Silurian never killed him, so Rory would still be alive within the crack. That seems like a logical way to bring Rory back, which I'm sure they will do.

I just finished in one hour and a half. The grapics are not that great, but it's really good for a FREE game, keep dat in mind. It's like your playing the doctor. It's just like one complete Doctor Who episode, and you play it. Sometimes the camera is a bit annoying and Amy is sometimes not that quick, so she get shot by The Daleks and you have to start again.

It's a really fun game!

If Rory never existed there would be nothing to kill so even if the Silurian was absorbed in the crack this logic wouldn't save Rory.

If the Tardis is in the crack would this explain why at this point no-one remembers the Daleks in London? If there was no doctor or tardis, history via-a-vis doctor related events, would have changed somewhat. I also think that the Doctor's solution to the permanent deletion from time, namely recalling the individual's memory over and over, was mentioned for a reason. Hope we don't go down that road.

But it would, because if there was nothing to kill, then the shot would never have been fired. So he'd be alive.

Except he wouldn't be saved because he NEVER EXISTED. He didn't die, because he was erased from existence. Which means he was never born, never met Amy, never went on the TARDIS and never died. Doesn't mean he's alive, it means he never existed at all. Therefore, as Dfenz said it, nothing to save.

Granted, I still reckon he'll be back, but stable time loop logic doesn't apply.

Haha, I loved it when the Doctor couldn't bear time passing by. It did make me laugh I have to admit. Yes, I fell into the trap of thinking Van Gough was dead in the trailer. Oh well, I have done that a lot.

Is it me or have the special effects really gone off since last series?

I did like this episode, but it wasn't my favourite. It was different though, so that was nice. It was going for something else than just adventures, more dealing with depression. The message was surprisingly powerful I thought.

Next episode looks good. It seems very Cybermen doesn't it?

Yeah, I thought that, but thankfully they weren't ever-present in this episode.

I loved the whole thing, especially Bill Nighy. I was worried it'd just be a regular generic episode with some monster and that'd be all there is to it. But that was really just a reason to get the Doctor there.

I didn't think that initially, but I kinda get what you mean. The Cyberman in the trailer was in a cave, though, so I doubt it'll be a Cyberman episode next week.

Sewage system beneath the house? If it were Cybermen they would do something beneath the house.

I've not yet seen the episode yet, so I'll post my views later.

I love that because it makes so much sense. The Doctor is a man with a time machine, he doesn't wait for anything he simply arrives whenever it happens. Its great to see moments like that.

It was different though, so that was nice. It was going for something else than just adventures, more dealing with depression. The message was surprisingly powerful I thought.

I agree, I like that they didn't shy away from the depression angle and certainly addressed it in a mature way (with aliens! ). The comparison between Amy's unknown sadness and Van Gough's own turmoil which he couldn't understand was cleverly done, as was the reveal that not only could the heroes not see the monster, it couldn't see them, and the significance of that in relation to The Doctor and Van Gough's own way of seeing the universe.

I But that was really just a reason to get the Doctor there.

That was another thing that I loved, I respect any episode that can give a good reason for the Doctor finding trouble other than simply arriving there at a bad time. He saw something off and investigated, like in the Angel two-parter.

Or alternatively in a cave beneath the house. That's what's wrong with the new Cybermen, they don't hide beneath things!

I saw the episode, and enjoyed it! The doctor waiting for the monster was quite funny, and I was moved by Vincent in the gallery. :cry_happy:

I'm secptic about next weeks episode, it could turn into another 'Fear Her'. Also, I don't think it's Cybermen. Whenever Cybermen, Daleks, Surilians, Weeping Angels and any other major villians are going to be in the proceeding episode, they can't resist putting it into the trailer.

But I doubt the Cybernen would be the finale either. I bet it is this one.
