-JD- Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I liked the episode, very well written! It was a shame the monster died at the end, but that was bound to happen with the new writers. Didn't the monster look like a cross between a turkey, half-naked porcupine, and a dinosaur? Quote
simonjedi Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 That was a really good episode, i liked that the 'its funny because they are normally associated with that thing amirite?' scenes were kept to a minimum (Amy's sunflower scene). and that 11 was really that bothered about meeting van gogh. But I doubt the Cybernen would be the finale either. I bet it is this one. The Cybermen are in the finale though, didn't you see the bit in the trailer where There's a damaged one, that's following Amy: http://img.skitch.com/20100319-e9id59w1p2g...cg336mwi2j4.jpg Plus i don't think they would waste the cybermen in the 'crap' episode. Oh, The blond girl who James corden lives with will die during the episode, calling it now. Quote

Lord Arjay Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Yeah I knew that. Hang on, could this be another three parter? Maybe but I doubt it. Especially seeing as next week is the companion-lite episode, more likely to be a little cliff-hanger that is largely nothing to do with the main story though. Anyway after watching Vincent and the Doctor I can agree that it was an enjoyable experience. In a deeply moving sort of way. It was a good idea to make the giant turkey a metaphor of Van Goghs' instability. So yeah it was a nice little break from the main story arc, but next week we simply must get back to the crack. Lilsniffs Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I just thought of something. If something that takes the image of an angel, IS an angel, what would happen if an angel was caught in a mirror fun house at a carnival or something. Would it just keep making angels? Quote

I don't think reflections count, plus Funhouse mirrors are distorted and stuff so we'd have load of deformed weird angels. It does explain how 10 and Martha got stranded in 1968(?) during blink The angel picture(s) that Sally gave them became angels Quote
Batbrick Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I don't think reflections count, plus Funhouse mirrors are distorted and stuff so we'd have load of deformed weird angels. It does explain how 10 and Martha got stranded in 1968(?) during blink The angel picture(s) that Sally gave them became angels I don't think so, since there were already Angels in the episode I think the Doctor and Martha were both attacked by them and sent back to 1968. Also in The Time of Angels the Doctor mentions how they were not organised like those Angels and didn't have their extra powers. That said while it takes a while to get your head around them I think the angels two-parter introduced some great concepts to the Angels to make them incredibly threatening. Someone on a forum (Hint: It was me! ) had a pet idea that that the angels are such a malevolent threat because they could destroy a planet by virtue of simply one being there. The resulting video cam footage focusing on the Angel and broadcasted worldwide would result in millions of "Angels" all part of the one consciousness of the original Angel. Additionally their being some of the oldest beings in the universe, as well as in-show references by the Time Lords about their existence means that there could be many interesting stories about their malevolence stretching back all the way to early Gallifrey, giving them a reputation similar to the The Great Vampires and other beings that waged war with the Time Lords. I truly think that the Weeping Angels should definitely become one of the Doctor's greatest enemies, alongside the Daleks, Davros, Cybermen, Sontarans, The Master etc. They certainly have a unique look and modus operandi, have motives that could extend beyond the simple "exterminate!" of the Daleks and conversion method of the Cybermen, and have a mystery about them that even the Doctor himself does not know much about. Also, Lovecraft's Old Ones, such as Cthulhu and Shub Niggarath simply MUST be the main big bad of a season one day, they could make the most epic story ever, I repeat, ever, told. Batbrick Away! simonjedi Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Told you it wasn't the cybermen! Oh, The blond girl who James corden lives with will die during the episode, calling it now. Also i'm Technically correct about that, the crack in the wall probably erased them from time. It was a very good episode, i'm glad Corden wasn't trying to be 'funny' in it. Matt had some great line and looked like he really really enjoyed it. Edited June 12, 2010 by simonjedi Quote
The Crazy One Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Okay, but you can understand my mistake can't you? I quite liked the episode. It was a fresh tone which was nice. When he Doctor played football was quite enjoyable. Quote
Sandy Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I really liked this episode, even though the whole "friends to lovers"-sideplot was horribly clichéd and predictable. The best bits were of course the Doctor trying to act like a human (even though it's odd that he was behaving so much like an alien despite having visited Earth for decades). And only Matt Smith could go to that level of zany, I don't think the previous two Doctors could've achieved that. The "bloke upstairs" was super creepy as well, luring people there by using their "humane weakness" against them. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't turn out to be an alien after all, but an A.I. hologram. The cat was supercute as well! I kinda felt sorry for Amy, all she had to do in this episode was to wobble and hold onto her dear life. The end shot was sweet, though. Of course, this episode was just the calm before storm, as it seems that the season's two-parter finale is epic beyond belief. I mean, Romans and Stonehenge and River Song and Pandora's Box! I really don't care for the Cybermen, though, they're annoying as hell with their clinks and clanks . Quote
The Crazy One Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) Yeah, I can't wait for next week's episode. It looks to be a real cracker of an episode. The ' being ' with a thousand races blood on his hands must be........I don't want to spoil it, because I am sure it is correct. Maybe we could see a few revamps of old races specially for this episode? Edited June 13, 2010 by The crazy one Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I enjoyed the episode (especially the scene where the Doctor and Craig 'exchanged information'), but I was hoping in would give more of an insight into the finale, like with Turn Left, or Waters of Mars, as opposed to only giving us hints in the 'next time' section. Did anyone else notice the Van Gough exhibition leaflet in Craig's flat? Van Gough story arc FTW! Yeah, I can't wait for next week's episode. It looks to be a real cracker of an episode. The ' being ' with a thousand races blood on his hands must be........I don't want to spoil it, because I am sure it is correct. Maybe we could see a few revamps of old races specially for this episode? Well according to Tardis wiki, we shall be seeing: Chelonians and the Drahvin. Though it is a wiki, so take it with a pinch of salt. Quote
Lord Arjay Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I quite enjoyed that episode though I would have preferred a bigger ciffhanger or something. Also what was up the stairs? A Tardis? Who on Earth built that? I wish that bit was explained more unless it will make a re-appearance. Quote
simonjedi Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 The Pandorica Opens was excellent. Loved the cyberman scenes Quote
Lord Arjay Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Agreed. Yet it was nt flawless, the main problem for me being the Rainbow Daleks working with inferior species. Surely they would just externimate everyone? I'll post more in-depth later. Quote

Surely they would just externimate everyone? I'll post more in-depth later. The Daleks have worked with many species many times over the course of the entire series. Even in the new series they used the Jagrafass in Series 1, and in Old Who they would use other species very often. They just plan to exterminate them later, which I'm guessing everyone was planning to do to each other once the racks were stopped. I'll also post in depth later, my mind is too busy being blown by what happened. Quote
-JD- Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I need my own TARDIS to get to next Saturday to see the finale! It was great. Lots of things to be tied up and corrected in the next episode! Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Whilst is was great, why do the Daleks and Cybermen get all the lines? Also, why are the Atraxi and Judoon working with the murders? There supposed to be police! Quote

the Inventor Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Can't wait for Saturday to see the finale! It was a great episode, seeing all those different species next to each other. And that the Pandora's Box was actually an empty prison for the Doctor. Did you miss The Stolen Earth/Journey's End where the Daleks tried to reduce everything to atoms? I'd doubt they'd mind this that much. Yea, but if they did that they would still be around and if they don't stop the ending of the reality, even the Daleks wouldn't survive that. the Inventor Quote
The Crazy One Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I loved this episode. Great and very well done. Another thing to point out about the Daleks working with other species is that these ones seem to be a lot mire plotting. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a devious blood bath coming up. Oh.....when Amy was shot it was so sad, and very early in a finale to do it, I like this new format. Quote

I'll let the Inventor answer this one for me: Yea, but if they did that they would still be around and if they don't stop the ending of the reality, even the Daleks wouldn't survive that. Dalek Priority 1: Ensure the survival of the Dalek race. Another thing to point out about the Daleks working with other species is that these ones seem to be a lot mire plotting. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a devious blood bath coming up. Yeah, regardless of what you think of their look (I personally like it though I think they are a bit too bulky) you have to admit its great that the regular Daleks are finally capable of plotting again, much like the one if the first Dalek ep in Series 1. Every one of them since then have just been catchphrase spouting soldiers. Batbrick Away! Quote

I've just got this feeling that next episode will go back to young Amy and that this alliance is merely treated to a cameo. Don't quote me on that as it's just guesswork.
